There is corruption,” said Asha Essa, who lives in a camp for displaced people on the outskirts of the town. “I have seen the officials selling our food aid in town.” The displaced people who live in this dusty, sprawling camp of stick and plastic tents lament the fact that they have to buy the food that should be given to them. Many cannot afford to pay the US$7 (Dh25) for a 25kg bag of sorghum. Rising food prices and hyperinflation have put even basic food out of reach for the most vulnerable. “There’s no food,” said Ali Gouled, a camp resident. “When they bring rice, people take it to town. It flies away from here like a bird.” Like a bird indeed. Shame this happens, but the misfortune is that the business of stealing and selling food aid has been evolving for the last twenty years of the Somali civil war. It needs effective control, monitoring and distribution from the top to bottom. But where corruption comes from the top, the plight of these poor refugees will always remain as deem as the store in which their food is hoarded. Good luck to them but good governance will sure help. Hope changes come soon with the expected elections.

You know, I might need to come back to this kind of thread again and read it. I'm mulling over something, and that thing might send me right into the thick of a troublesome spot. Head first. And since it'll not be humanitarian in nature (I wish it was), it shall be amusing to know how it feels to be a walking target. Bokero, good lack mate.

It is a debate over definition: it was a 'libaax yar' or 'maya maya bisad bey ahayd' It is funny lol. 'Geedoow, waxaan ku moodaayey, mise waxaad igu noqotay, waa waxaan loo noqon doonin'

Sheekadu waa sida Doobkii habeenka dhafray, ee yiri: 'Aaboow iska daa sadex ha ii guurinin, tanaa reerahoo dhan ku filan'. Marka Somalida waxay 10 million u dhaafi weydey oo uu reerkeyguna 40 kun u dhaafi waayey waa 'waaxidka' aan guursaneyno. Anigu sadex baan soo wadaa... Safka hore. No joke.

NY, one tends to find a routine to choose and utilize info or is it the routine that finds one. One or the other. By the way, the 'right' information is not out there. Most of what creates the overload is 'mind-jamming-junk'. I wouldn't say no if I could be begged to have an access to a treasure-house of electronic materials. Just beg me.

Djibouti Trained Security Forces International Support
Paragon replied to Abu-Salman's topic in Politics
^Afternoon Thanks for the article, sxb. Djibouti trained forces are just brilliant! Now those who opposed Shariif on the basis of AU force presence can lay down the axe and support the government. SHariifka has even made clear that he is willing to address the grievances of those clans who've expressed dissatisfaction with the cabinet selection. -

I sense alot of immaturity and 'rag'garadnimo'la'aan' in both Shariifka and Ina Sharma'arke's government. They need political intelligence/psychological experts in order to sail the murky sea of Somali politics. We are dealing with a patient here. I was unhappy about the criteria they put forth for posts appointments (which was in a nutshell segregationist in nature, that'll cause self-imposed state alienation), but also it seems more disappointments are on the way. Imagine putting up criteria that puts you right opposite to the public you wish to rule? Only in Somalia Anyway, enough with my mild criticisms, an able team of experts need assembling, and fast! I think we've got a promising opportunity which we cannot afford to waste this time. Destinity doesn't afford us time to waste. [Considering many things I cannot write herein] it's either now or never.

Val He's not in any way close to being a Philo-student. The boy is in engineering (or something mechanical ) I think/ Now, lad, what is wrong with 33 considering I am in a head-collision with it? And I AM NOT CYNICAL. If anything I am growing more optimistic. Perhaps all we old timers did was to ground your feet firm on planet Earth?

They call it Polyandry, and such traditions are commonly accepted in countries like Tibet. I was watching 'On Year In Tibet' TV show once and it was a surprise to learn of one woman's plight. Apparently, the woman wasn't a wife to one husband but to all the brothers in his family, which were more than three. She was obliged to service every brother as a husband. I thought that was a bit unfair as she was already nurturing around 5 children. Might I also mention that the Maasai of Kenya are 'said' to practive this tradition of Polyandry. Peculiar cultures, I'd say. But as one grows older and reads, one tends to learn of things that are of amusing or enlightening nature.
