I'd forgotten I had a blog! How come my dashboard doesn't show web history or YouTube history?

^I don't think that's it Seeker, it's a bit of a stretch. Could it be 5 senses? but I can't figure out what SF means... sensory faculties?

LOL @ Maxy Powers, did you get your nick from a pornstar registry? I know I know. I'm proving your point about our saqajaanimo tendencies

Hold on Nuune, there are only 8 planets in our solar system. Pluto is actually a dwarf planet. If you're going to be so pedantic don't make such astronomically bad mistakes 1000=WPW -->words a picture is worth.

What the heck? How is this even news?

Castro, isn't it understood that a mistress in these situations is expected? As long as the affair is discreet, the mistress is not ambitious, and the husband does not shame the young bride by parading his bit on the side to high society, I'm sure Lady Smythers would advice her readers that there's nothing to worry about. But god help him if he tries to acknowledge any illegitimate children

^There's every kind of basis actually, and it's far more reasonable to assume she was forced than that she made the choice of her own free will. 1)She is really young but even if she wasn't 2) He is really old but even if he wasn't 3) The age difference is 90+ years! He has great-grandchildren older than her. But what clinches it is social context. Knowing that girls back home are routinely forced into marriage, especially to married older men, and especially at that age, do you really find it more plausible that a 17 year old made this choice?

Whew. I read all the shocked responses before reading the story, so when I got to the embrace between the husband and his friend I thought "A&T has gone too far!"

So are there any Faraxs/Xalimo's in meteorology? Any possibility this could work in Somalia? One interesting thing I remember about the Moscow cloud seeding is that farmers in rural Russia were complaining that they were experiencing a drought as a consequence. Might be a way to stick it to neighboring countries. It would be really rich if we made it rain in Bosaaso and the Ethiopian highlands dried up

I realize I have too many clocks. There's three just in the kitchen, two in the bedroom, three in the living room. Half of them automatically switched to daylight savings time, the other half didn't, one or two have been blinking for a week since the power went out, and one of them is in the wrong time zone. Yet I don't wear a watch.

Edible Woman Prep time: 15-20 years Cooking time: 5-10 years Servings: 8 Take one female infant, raw, preferably intelligent, full of potential and curious about the world. Use a coarse cheese grater to file away unattractive edges. Wring out curiosity with plenty of mindwashing and busy work, knead personality to desired shape, then place in small pan until she has been molded into rigid social conventions. Bake at 350F, let cool, glaze and garnish with meaningless consumer goods.

^You don't have a thing for old man smell? To get a whiff of Vicks vapor rub and a hint of death as you lovingly shout "SUBAX WANAAGSAN!" (a little louder please) every morning while admiring his liver spots? Lucky girl probably even gets to trim his nostril hairs!

I think like Cawaale said we should move past this minor point of contention. No one can deny that Al-shabaab are extremists, and the author could've just as easily used another example of their obsession with controlling what women wear. To me that's the real shock. I honestly have trouble wrapping my head around the idea of a group of Somali men oo isku shir doonay inay dumar labiskood isku mashquuliyaan. It's like finding out your father prefers one of your barbie dolls over another, and insists you brush her hair every day. It boggles the mind. So the real discussion should be why? What is it about women and women's bodies that serves as an easy rallying cry for fundamentalists, especially in war-torn countries?
-
^Yes but if you search for "Elvis abducted by aliens" you'll get plenty of hits too. And I'm sure Wikipedia will mention that some people believe he is still alive. Although I think you don't need to believe that Al-shabab is into bra burning to see that they are extremists who think oppressing women is the solution to poverty, war, disease, an outbreak of pimples, burnt toast and finding a fly in your soup.

LOL, yeah for some reason people outside of the UK have this weird obsession with working while at work. Very uncultured. Good luck with the paper, I'm gonna go home and hit the sack...

^Have you read Nuraddin Farah? I'm pretty sure he wrote the manual on thrillers featuring political assassinations against backdrop of 1970s Xamar, with generous helpings of intrigue and torrid affairs. Just cannot get into his prose though...
