Let's just say that Somalis aren't even safe in their own country, let alone people who want to take a vacation there!!! If you really want to go, you will need to plan for a long time and make sure you hook yourself up with about 7 or 8 bodyguards, a technical(machine-gun mounted truck), and a whole lotta bravery, cuz you'll need it!! The minute they see any foreigner, they'll most likely kidnap them cuz they think people from other countries are all rich

Originally posted by Castro: quote:Originally posted by Johnny B: Now , The question is, why a human adult has to drink milk ( a short term nutrient for new-borns ) from the WRONG mamal? What a fascinating question? I've never thought of it that way and I'd love to find out why it is so. Anyone have anything other than "we can"? Nobody actually has to drink milk. The only liquid we need is water. But we know milk is good for you, and the prophet Muhammad SCW drank milk all the time. I would venture a guess that if he drank it, he should know there is goodness in it. We humans are the ones with the big brains(at least most of us) so that's why we do things other animals in the kingdom don't do. For example, humans drink milk from other animals. Doesn't mean we're doing anything wrong.

Come on, man! This is milk we're talking about, not blood or pus or something! We eat these animals, so why is it so bad to drink their milk? Milk is even good for you. Do you suggest I drink Diet Coke the rest of my life(seeing as I drink so much already ?)

LOL I think Rahima's got an ego problem...The male ego, that is!! C'mon sis, you don't have to throw these sweeping generalizations at anyone who mentions polygamy. Like I elaborated upon in the other thread, there's more than just ego involved when marrying another wife, at least for some of us. For the others who aren't concerned with the Islamic aspect of polygamy, they might as well just cheat instead of marrying another one because they're doing it for the wrong reasons.

Originally posted by x_quizit: Many young kids (boys/girls) get molested/raped everyday, will you explain to ur child that the nighty she was wearing was alluring to daddy? These are acts committed by sick individuals who would rape a dog if that's all there was around. You're kinda going overboard with a ridiculous statement like this. Originally posted by x_quizit: To some, an ankle is sexy, eyes are sexy, voice is sexy, SHOULD I BE CONDEMNED AND LOCKED UP IN MY HOME BECAUSE SOME MAN MIGHT FIND SOMETHING OF ME SEXY AND TOMORROW I SHALL BE BLAMED IF HE CHOOSES TO VIOLATE ME? No, you should not be condemned and locked up in your house, but you need to realize there are dangerous men all across the world, whether they are Somali or American, and you cannot tell me that appearance has nothing to do with the subject being discussed. I don't believe anyone in here is even thinking that a woman is to blame if she is raped and wore skimpy clothes. Obviously, if man is that horny, then it probably doesn't matter to him what the girl is wearing. But the point that I, and others I believe are trying to make is that it doesn't help the situation out at all. After all ,we've gone over the verse in the Qur'an about hijab multiple times for a reason. The prophet Muhammad SCW said that there is no blame upon a woman if she is raped, but he sentenced the rapist to death by stoning just like any other adulterer. Basically, sister, you just have to realize that if you do your best to be a good Muslim, you will have nothing to worry about. If a man does rape you and is not brought to justice in this world, I think we all know when and from Whom he will receive his justice. Patience is the key.

It's not just Somalia, either...Any so-called "third world country" goes by the same value...It's called "respecting authority". But the problem is that some people abuse their authority and people started to believe that if they took away that authority, the problem would be solved. You just have to look at how much power has been taken away from authority figures in recent years...Police can't even hold child hookers for more than 72 hours, I believe. Teachers can't discipline unruly children in their class for fear that they may be sued by the parents or the police may arrest them for child abuse. Hell, parents can hardly even discipline their children anymore. If there's a few bad apples, in which every society has, that doesn't mean that authority should be stripped from everyone. Giving kids all the power is not the answer. After all, if we are not allowed to give them proper guidance, who will?

I partially agree with Femme and partially with Castro. But the thing is that Femme is talking about North Americans and their obsession with illness(I'm sure they have a medical name for that kind of obsession ) and Castro is talking about Somalia. They are completely different in all regards. Somalia has suffered through a generation of war and will most likely leave lots of people a little skiddish, to say the least. There were mentally disabled people before the war as well, and were treated wrongly, as if they were worse than dogs. This is a world of difference compared to North America's obsession(maybe it's called mental disorderitis) with disease. If anything goes wrong and they get sad or angry, it must be a medical condition. Look at the thousands of children who are supposedly sick with "attention deficit disorder" and put on pills because their parents don't want to get involved with their children's homework. Or the millions of people "suffering" from "depression" and given Prozac. The problem is that people don't want to solve the problem from the root, maybe they don't want to face the truth or maybe they're just lazy and want a quick fix. Pharmaceutical companies are having a heyday with this and are most likely aggravating the situation by pumping out pill after pill for the problem, not wanting to actually solve it and thereby reducing profit. But the most important thing to remember is that without religion, people are left with an unfillable void that pills cannot fix, and I'm sure most, if not all of you, will agree with me.

I gotta jump in with my $0.02 here. We've covered the alcohol part, so everyone knows alcohol is a no-no(geez, I guess that's why it's XARAAM, eh!!). As for appearances, it is by no means an excuse to rape a woman, but it does play a part. There is a reason why Allah SWT has instructed women to wear hijab and that is so they may be recognized as "free respectable women and not be molested" as the English translation says. A man is more likely to be aroused by a woman wearing next to nothing and not by the woman who is covered from head to toe. There's something about a covered woman that just screams out "Don't touch me". Sheherazade's case is a rare one in which the guy was just a f**king id*iot who likes bother Muslims, most likely because of some ill-conceived notion that we're all blood-thirsty nutcases.(Sheh, you live in Toronto, don't you? Just draw out a sketch of what this guy looks like and I'll gladly make the plane trip down to beat the sh*t out of him and drag him to your doorstep to apologize )

The Islamic system of economy takes the good parts from both capitalism and socialism and combines the two so that one can prosper and have a successful business, yet at the same time, the miskiin are taken care of from the zakah fund. From my understanding, an Islamic govrnment has the right to demand their citizens pay zakah, rather than the citizens pay if they want to or not(if this is not true, let me know). So the gov't could take the zakah likes taxes off your check and use it to help the needy.

Originally posted by Rahima: Liban, do as you wish but cut this nonsense of demonizing sisters who opt for a choice which would quell this option (it is not Fard you know). *sigh* OK then, if you feel I am "demonizing" you or "belittling" your rights and your opinions, then I shall stop. I also realize that I am taking a dangerous step in mentioning disbelief, and for that I sincerely apologize. But you also have to realize that jumping to conclusions such as this Bravo, someone give the brother a worthy clap please. So Somali men marry for the sake of the poor and destitute sisters [big Grin] . If ever there were a time to laugh this would certainly be it. Ina adeer let’s cut the crap, Somali men when marrying a second wife are thinking with a particular part of anatomy and not for the good of the Ummah. I have yet to come across a man who married another wife for the sake of the Ummah. is dangerous, as well. You don't know me. I'm just some guy you know only because you're arguing with him over the internet. You don't know my intentions. So while you throw generalizations at me like the above quote, you also claim this: You see, unlike you and a whole bunch of the other Faarax’s I respect your choice . Are you man enough to respect ours? But do you really? I'll leave this argument alone now, because I'm not really fond of arguing over the internet. You have your choice, sister, I don't deny you that, and you respect my choice. As salamu alaikum wa rahmatullai wa barakatuhu. Masha Allah, you are a good debater. You could get into politics(do us all a favour and start an Islamic political party, and I'll actually have someone to vote for)

He's got a point, though...Even if we're joking, we shoudn't compare the duniya to the akhirah. As Rasulullah SCW said, "A space of Jannah equal to the size of a foot is better than the whole world and everything in it"

I can see that Brother Nur touched on some very serious topics such as female circumcision, abortion, etc. and ticked off a lot of people in the process by stating his opinions in the matter. But I don't see why he would have to apologize for stating those opinions. He is entitled to think whatever he wants just like the rest of us. Brother Nur, there's no need to apologize, I respect you regardless of if I agree with you or not.

I am all for capital and corporal punishment, as it is applied in the laws set out by Allah SWT in the Qur'an and by Muhammad SCW in the xadiis. A married adulterer gets stoned to death, a non-married adulterer gets 80(i think) lashes. And so on and so forth. As for the justice system in America, it does not follow the Sharia, so it comes as no surprise to me, nor should it to anyone else, that it is very, very flawed, same as any other country where Sharia is not enforced as Allah SWT commanded in the Qur'an(before you start about the unfairness of Sharia law as applied in such countries as Saudi Arabia, please refer to where I said as Allah SWT commanded in the Qur'an, not as carried out by people like the self-centred rulers of countries such as Saudi Arabia, insha Allah they will have their Day of Judgement for whatever wrong they have done).
