  2. Firstlady, if you're under 4'11" then I would worry about being only 140 lbs, because that's really not that bad.
  3. LOL yeah I'm from Calgaria, Albertia.

LOL reminds me of Super Farax, "Aay haaf moore enerji".
  7. Call me the eternal optimist, but I still hold out hope that Somalia can pull together and have a peaceful and stable country and government in the next 10 years. This madness can't last forever.
  8. Layzie, 90% seems like a really high number, but I agree most of SOL is in England with the occasional few in the British Isles, such as our Mick friend Nuune(I'm Irish, so I'm allowed to say Mick ) I would think it's around 60% UK, 30% North America, 10% elsewhere. Abdinuur, why not start a poll?

    C'mon!!!

A few examples of the Somali accent that crack me up: The number 6- sigis Milk- milik The number 12- tu-alif One of my favourites, there is a town in Alberta called Brooks that a lot of Somalis come out to work in the beef factory, and they call it "Baruukis"!!
  10. ^That's what I was thinking too. Nowadays, Hotmail gives you 100 MB, doesn't it? I don't remember.....

    ~REFORMED~

Welcome back, Layziegirl. It feels like you never left. P.S. I prefer Krayzie Bone over Layzie Bone. Better singer.
  13. While the community should share a small portion of the blame for the state of their teenagers, the brunt of it lays squarely on the teenagers themselves. This is a DIY world and don't expect any help from anyone. Your parents and elders can only guise you so far before you have to stay on your own feet, and if they're not there to help you, you have to help yourself.
  14. Yes, there is, Cara. I want to get a picture taken of myself with an AK-47. Maybe I'll bust off a cap or 2 as well, like a true Arab, shooting in the sky while screaming "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH LALALALALALALLAALALALALALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH"!!!!! Know what I mean? And as for contacts, my ex has all the contacts I need for that. Wildcat, there is an af-soomaali class somewhere in London from what I heard, but not anywhere else.
  15. This is my thread and I'll be damned if it gets down to the 2nd page AKA never to be read again!! Originally posted by WILDCAT: So, do you wear a macawiis and chew qaad ? I hope your Somali-ness doesn't stretch THAT far... I'm generally curious what initially drew you to the Somali way of life, and what inspired you to continue the path even after the separation from your wife... It's difficult to be objective about Somali traits when you are Somali yourself... I always enjoy hearing outside viewpoints... so please kindly indulge me as fully as you possibly can if you have time, and if it's not too personal a request... Wildcat, genuinely interested and curious. I have chewed qaad a few times, but it tastes awful and I hated the fact that even though I felt dead tired, it took me 5 hours to go to sleep!! It's just a huge waste of money and its haraam anyway. Basically, I married a Somali woman and just jumped right in, I guess. I may not be married to her anymore, but we're still close and good friends, not just for the sake of the kids, but it turned out we like each other as friends, and nothing more, so I'm still attached to Somali culture in that way. As well, it seems that most white converts adopt the Arab culture by default, and I've always wanted to be different. And I don't know any Arabs anyways, so other than sharing the same diin (for the most part), I have no need to have any Arab characteristics(other than the fact that I love shawarmas and I like some Arabic music). Basically for the most part, Somali culture and lifestyle is very good and I think it's a good choice to raise my children under. But obviously, nothing is perfect and Somalis have their flaws, notably the qabiil issue, but my kids and I haven't seen the detrimental effects of it and probably never will, due to the fact that none of us actually have a qabiil. The qabiil comes from the father's side, so my kids are basically seen as Irish, and not Somali. So I'm hoping they get the best of both worlds.
  16. What a bunch of crap. But I did it anyway. I am..... 3 The life of the party 3's are idealists. They are very creative, social, charming, romantic, and easygoing. They start many things, but don't always see them through. They like others to be happy and go to great lengths to achieve it. They are very popular and idealistic. They should learn to see the world from a more realistic point of view.
  17. Cut your legs off. It's the fastest way to lose 50 lbs!!

^Actually it depends more on the person's learning abilities and their motaivation, desire, and effort to learn the new language. For example, my ex came to Canada when she was 16. 17 years later, she still speaks like a qaxooti because she didn't really care and couldn't be bothered to learn, but at least she's gotten better since she met me. Compare that to a friend of mine who came to Canada at about the same age and has almost no accent at all, because he was obviously more motivated and possibly a better learner when it comes to language. And Al-Muminah, no matter if they came here at a later age, 10 years is still more than enough time to learn english. The problem with most immigrants is that they stay with their owm community and still speak their own language, so they don't get practice speaking english and from the looks of it, don't want to speak english. That's fine if you don't want to speak the language of the country you live in, whatever you do with your time is up to you, and it's none of my business. but don't come crying to me to translate for you when you can't even fill out a simple form or go to the doctor and can't tell him why you're sick.
  19. Looks like I can cancel that flight to Sweden.....

  21. Ghanima, of course I'm joking. Have you guys ever seen me pissed off like that for real? I was just trying to sum up the whole Arab world's opinion on the issue.

  24. I'll be making the trek up to oilerland someday insha Allah, but not anytime soon. The weather here is bad enough, so I imagine it's not any better 3 hours north.
