  2. From afghanland.com..... here is no single verse in the Qur'an that states that Moses went to a mountain and never returned. The Qur'an doesn't mention his death, but according to Hadith tradition, Mussa was confronted by the angel of death. In those times, the angel of death appeared when he was about to take people's souls. Since Moses was strong, he overcame the angel of death, and the angel went without taking Moses's soul. Then God told Moses to put his hand on a goat's skin, and that the number of goat hairs his hand covered would be the number of years he would live, but then Moses chose to be near god, and so chose to die. Since that time, the Angel of death has been invisible link
  3. I read a hadith in Sahih Bukhari in which the prophet SCW explained that the angel of death came to take away prophet Musa AS, and Musa ended up slapping the angel of death in the face so hard, that he blinded him in one eye. Since then the angel of death decided to not appear to the people until it was time to die.

  5. I'd just like to know what kind of job Layziegirl has that makes her think that $1,000/week after taxes is bad.
  6. I was just wondering who in here is a regular chewer(or at least who will admit to it ) I honestly don't like it much. It tastes like crap, my jaw hurts from all the chewing, and the worst part is that it makes me feel tired and when I try to sleep, I can't!! What the hell is that? I honestly think it's a waste of time and money. For the amount of money I need to buy a bag of khat in Calgary, I could buy weed for cheaper, it will actually do something, and it's no more halal or haram than jaad, so what's the point? Not saying I smoke weed, cuz I quit that a long time ago, but just saying. Why is this thing so popular with Somali people?

    Waa lasoo furay

What exactly does "waa lasoo furay" mean anyways, and why is it sexist? All I know is "fur" means "open".
  8. I believe that Shia's don't follow the hadith that Muhammad SCW stopped mut'a, because they do not trust the narrator of the hadith, and as such, do not follow any hadiths narrated by that person. Abu Huraira, I think? At least that's what I think I remember reading somewhere. But I may be wrong, and Allah SWT knows best. As for "halal" boyfriends/girlfriends, there is no such thing, as Bob just said. Either you're married, which is halal, or not married, which is haraam. If you're married, then you don't have a girlfriend. You have a wife. If you enter a marriage with the intention of divorcing later on, then Allah SWT knows what is in your heart and you will face the appropriate consequence. Allah knows best.
  9. I have to find out who Nomadique is on Facebook, just so I can poke the hell out of her LOL But after Eid, because I have ceased poking operations during Ramadan

TORONTO is good enough for Kool_Kat, thank you very much... It's funny that papers in Calgary have lately gotten to talking about how the crime rate has risen in the last few years, and that residents are "gripped with fear" and "afraid to leave the house". The problem with Calgary and many Calgarians is that they think they live in a small town when the city has more than 1 million people, it's kinda like people are living in denial here and it sucks. Practically the only things that are open after 9 pm are friggin' liquor stores, bars, and A&W, which is 24 hours. Shawarama King is open until 4 am but I'm getting tired of going there all the time. There's not enough variety here.
  11. LOL I'm kinda getting a kick out of reading these posts. Okay, CC, obviously different people have different ideas on what poking means, but I won't explain them to you, I'll just let the Facebook groups speak for themselves...... Opinion #1 Opinion #2 Opinion #3 And while you're at it, why not join my useless group? And feel free to add me, obviously I am the creator of my group, so you know who I am.

  14. I have a feeling that our friend is a Somali teenager trying to resist an arranged marriage back home.
  15. Another thig which I forgot to ask is, where is a safe place to live? Most likely I'm going to move to Etobicoke or North York, but the only thing I really know is to stay the hell away from Jane and Finch
  16. LOL Rudy, you're a nutcase, but yeah, you reminded me of something. My chances of finding a xaliimo in Toronto are much better.
  17. I even heard Tim Horton's minimum wage is $15 per hour in Alberta. LOL I've already got a dead-end job, I don't need another one. I've also heard that Timmy's is hiring for $16/hour actually, but for the most part those fast-food and service-related jobs are still $8-$9/hour over here. One of the reasons why these companies can't find workers is that they still think they can find people for such low wages but lots of other places are paying a lot more. Remember guys, I'm not actually looking for a better job. If that's what I wanted, I'd stay here and look for one. What I'm hoping for is to be where I'm at right now, in Toronto, in a couple of years. I know I'll have to start at the bottom again and work my way up like I did when I came to Calgary, and I'm definitely not expecting to start at any more than $12-$13/hour. BTW Kool Kat, I did a quick search on google and saw quite a few jobs that I'm qualified for that start at up to $13/hour, so that's good news. At least it's better than $8. I'm not necessarily looking for a better financial situation in Toronto, but Toronto has far more attractions, things to do, halal restaurants, and much more Somalis and Muslims, so basically I could enjoy my life a little more over there, and pay the same amount to live,if not less in a few years, because Calgary's cost of living is still increasing. And like I said before, it can only be a good thing for me and my kids to be around more Muslims and more masjids. If all else fails, I can always come crawling back to my parents in Alberta And then i could always dust myself off and try again, I'm not afraid of failure. But that's only as a last resort, as in if I'm so broke that all I have is enough money for the bus to make it back. Go get and drive a truck. That is actually something I am thinking about as well. I don't have a truck, but I have a van and usually courier services take van drivers as well. If I can find a courier company that would take me on as an owner-operator, I would do that. But I would have to learn Hindi and Urdu first
  18. After much contemplation and reflection(about 4 hours of it ), today I decided to make the jump. That is, I have made an informed decision to move to Toronto in 6 months time. I graduated from the country lifestyle to the big city and now that I've been here for close to 5 years, I'm getting bored with it. Calgary may be the land of opportunity with tons of jobs but honestly this place is getting more expensive every month, the cost of living has skyrocketed over the last 2 years, and I see no tangible benefit to being here anymore. At least in the past I could've defended this place by saying that it's cheaper, which it's not anymore, actually it's more expensive than Toronto and Vancouver, and that this is where all the jobs are, but who cares? It's not like I can do 5 jobs or anything like that, and the job that I do have isn't gonna take me anywhere, and I know that. So I figure that if I'm not doing that much out here, I should move somewhere that at least looks better, and has much more of a Somali and Muslim presence, which I want for my kids. Obviously this decision of mine was helped along by my ex-wife's constant reminders that she never liked Alberta since she moved here and if she leaves, she's taking the kids with her, and wherever my kids go, I go too. But I'm not just following her out east. I'm doing this because I feel I need a change of scenery and I need the Somali/Muslim presence as much as my kids need it for the sake of my own iman, which is faltering at times. So I guess in a very, very loose sense, I'm doing a sort of hijra as well. Now I'm not the most educated man on this planet but I'm not necessarily lacking in the skills department as I've done all sorts of jobs and have earned some qualifications which help land jobs that others may not get(at least I hope they will). With that being said, the question I have is this: What kind of a job could a person with no post-secondary education such as myself get in a place like the GTA? Do you think I could eventually make half-decent money after a while, or should I expect to be stuck at $12/hour doing some sh*tty factory job 5 years down the road?
  19. These countries are losing their own people fast because those people see children as a curse, not a blessing. And at the same time, some of these people have the nerve to complain about all the immigrants and their large families. Sorry guys. Don't like it, have 5 kids of your own! If not, STFU.

  21. Edmonton's becoming a bad place for Somalis. There are these 2 young men, another was stabbed to death earlier this year, and of course the taxi driver who got killed by natives last year. Allahu naxariisto.
  22. Grieving Somali community asked to trust, work with police Edmonton Journal Elise Stolte Wednesday, September 12, 2007 Brother of one of the victims, A/ziz Ahmed Isse "How Conviced do you think we will be that there will be Justice" EDMONTON - Edmonton's mayor and chief of police met with members of the Somali community Tuesday to ask them to trust police and work with the city. But many in a community still recovering from the shooting deaths of two young men just wanted answers. "How convinced do you think we will be that there will be justice?" asked Abdiaziz Hassan, pointing to other unsolved murders. Hassan's brother, Farhan, 27, and Kasim Mohamed, 28, were both shot to death outside the Fulton Place community hall Sept. 2. Police have said neither man is believed to have gang or drug ties. On police chief Mike Boyd's initiative, he and Mayor Stephen Mandel met with about 150 Somali men and women at a hall in the northside Athlone community Tuesday evening. Boyd said he organized the meeting to listen to community concerns and encourage people to work with police. "Contact between people leads to communication," he said, as the meeting broke for prayer. "That's when the police and the community can really work together." Boyd's efforts mirror his work with the Somali community as chief of police in Toronto, he said. Those efforts had practical results. "Often when crimes would occur, I'd get a phone call." Later he said: "If there is anyone from the community who has any kind of information, especially in relation to violent crimes, please come forward." About 7,000 people from Somalia now live in Edmonton, said Hassan Ali, president of the Somali Canadian Cultural Society. Most of them came to eastern Canada in the late '90s following the civil war. They've come west in the last three or four years. Members of the Somali community asked for funding for youth programs and to hire staff for the cultural society. They also mentioned housing problems for their large families and struggles children face in their new schools. Farhan Farah, a friend of one of the victims, said many came to show support "and to know what the community is going through." Abdi Osman Mire, another friend, added: "Those guys that got killed, everybody is wondering, 'How did this happen?' " Farah said most of the people in the hall wouldn't be there if the victims had any gang or drug ties. Haanim Nur spoke of fear growing in the community. "I'm too scared to be alone, now," said the 16-year-old. "The people here came for safety," added her mother Sahria Hashi. "It was really a shock." estolte@thejournal.canwest.com Source: Edmonton Journal, Sept 12, 2007

    O'Happy Day

You need to stop telling us your qaxooti age, KK. We know your papers say you were born Jan. 1st 1984, but I think the truth is about 15 years later, sax?
