I think the regions should elect their own governors and mayors. I don't like the idea of Hargaisa deciding the affairs of Sanaag or any other region, the constitutional powers needs amendment ASAP, the regions deserve more powers.

And some people are against Federalism? ;)

1. For a man to die over the sacking of a Police chief waa ayan daro, hopefully the authorities/community leaders are able to defuse the situation quickly.

2. This president should really learn to stop engaging in activities that might create the perception for a Conflict of Interest, he has a long history of doing this bs.

3. I'm also really disappointed in Warracade, Silanlyo uses the the interior ministers (who are always HY) as his foot soldiers.

4.
I find the none-Somalilanders discussing Somaliland internal affairs annoying (I don't know why)

:D, but like everyone else, no doubt you take part in discussions involving other parts of Somalia?:D

it's good to mix, but to do that first government should be able to be fair enough to it's local community then they can go ahead to next step but now it's wrong guys at wrong time.

Lack of job opportunities for the youth is the main reason for this kind of protests. The trigger can be anything, as long as, there are hundreds or even thousands of unemployed youth wondering around the city centres.

Unlike Somalilanders discussing South topics with constant badmouthing and dehumanising fashion, I find the non-Somalilanders who commented so far in this topic respectful and balanced. This should of course discount the man who rightly classified himself as the Marfuc-al-qalam.

The other commendable point is this topic being started by non other than Saalax. The reverse norm could have been non-Somalilander starting this topic two days ago with Iskudir and ceebeyn fashion.

Will our Xaaji & in a lesser extent Saalax take few lessons from this?

QUOTE=Saalax;992197]You can disagree but the reality says otherwise something else. Those kind of violent protests are not only confined to Burco but also Berbera and other cities in Somaliland people openly defying Siilaanyo's nepotism. That shows the problem is Siilaanyo not the police officer.

Same day in Berbera.]]]]]

Yes same day in Berbera and is widely believed was co ordinated & opposition had some to do.

these things happen everywhere and is easier to pin on gov't, better be rather responsible with fair assessment. Was the gov't responsible when xaqsoor was creating trouble in hargeisa, was gov't responsible when police chief killed in Ainabo, was gov't responsible last time they had same thing in Burao, few months back, when one guy killed by police...and the dead, the police who shot him,the officer who gave orders, the police chief and the interior minister all happened to be from west Burao...same clan. What about if opposition or those on otha side wrong. There is no nepotism involved here, just a corrupt police officer caught red handed. As for Berbera, were they right when demonstrating against Dahbshiil trying to build the cement factory? We both know why!! and now ina Harbi who born & bred in Berbera bought some land & some were vehemently opposed to in Berbera cos he is same clan as Silanyo.Come on guys.

Balanced view here....

waaryaa Saalax take easy bro.

The problem in Burco, as I see it, is that habros there don't like to take orders from president Silanyo. This is very unbecoming of them, as they should respect the president.

Respect is earned brother!. If the old man were to avoid pushing the pressure points, then respect would have been instant as no one would have cause to complain.

Saalax the dead guy is from EAST.He was 17 yr old with wheelbarrow going about his usual errands when stray bullet from otha side hit.

The police chief is in real trouble, sacked(not very sure) and will probably go to jail as I was told. This is not any close with what you trying to paint.

And you don't think if he has secret plans and the locals are opposed to them Sillanyo will fail no matter what kind of police commander he brings? After so many years in politics you don't think he knows that simple fact? And what about the one or two poor people who died, is their life not more important than some police man who was moved else where rightly or wrongly? Reer Burco are just too backward and both of those families who reside there are addicted to violence and trouble ilahay amarkis.

Siilaanyo was always divisive, even in SNM days.So I don't think he learned anything from the

past although he knows. That one person who died was because of RRU, in a cruel twist

of fate they were trying to kill western Burco protestors yet the bullet hit someone from Siilaanyo's

eastern Burco group.
