The killings of Somalis in South Africa - raising awareness

This is being buried by most media organisations. Considering the in thing is social media these days and these outlets monitor them, would a social media campaign help?

#stopthekilling #southafrica #somalis #xenophobic #somalisinsa

Over the past weeks Somalis in South Africa have been killed for no reason other than owning businesses. These xenophobic attacks must stop and we demand the South African authorities to bring those responsible for these attacks to justice.

Put this in your twitter/facebook feed/status. Its a start.

Add other hashtags as you see fit.

We have South African nationals working at Mogadishu Airport, not less than 10 of them, should we gun them down, what would be the reaction of the world media if one of them is hurt, frenzy.

Cawaan weeye, apartheidkii ayaaba loo qaatey kuwan, anigu uma aan diir-naxeen kolleey, I can'tbelieve that link say all Somali owned businesses were looted or burn, ALL, can you imagine that!

again, cawaan aan aqoon si loo shaqeesto ama aan aqoon si guumeestaha la iskaga celiyo, it was only recently that more than 35 of black South Africans were gunned down LIVE on tv for protesting and demanding a pay rise for their mining jobs, LIVE TV shooting by the Police mostly WHITE police.

Now that Somalis in South Africa know the reality and have witnessed it many times, they now know when to head off, but the journey to retart again would be difficult.

Chimera

The only way Somalis will contribute is if those in South Africa compile a list categorized by clan and then mass-deseminate it around the million + clan-portals asking for help.

Otherwise don't expect any support.

I will tweet a short message.

Nomads, please don't post the gruesome stoning video on SOL because it is against SOL rules to publish such content.

UPDATE

New information has come to light about the graphic video of a man being stoned to death near Port Elizabeth.

It seems this may not have been Somali shopkeeper Ahmed Abidi as we previously reported.

Police say this may have been a different incident of mob justice in Booysens Park, that happened a few days ago.

In the footage, which was cut into still images, a man is seen being stoned to death by at least three people, one of them appears to be a schoolboy of about 12 years old.

A relative of Ahmed Abidi, who was stoned to death on Thursday, says this does not look like him and he was wearing clothes at the time he was found.

Police are now trying to determine who the man in this footage is, when he was attacked and who was responsible.
