she was a controversial figure but she was also instrumental in sowing the seeds, for the economic booms years under New Labour, which i've greatly benefited from. a no-nonsense politician, thatcher will be sorely missed. R.I.P. as for Madiba, his leadership of a post-apartheid S.A was useless and he was better off in prison.

Not only apartheid, Pinochet, Botha, Savimbi, Pol Pot, Tudjman, Mobutu, and the list goes on. For Thatcher, any enemy of socialism was a friend. Good riddance.

I dislike capitalism and neoliberalism and the way it chooses capital at the expense of humanity. The above associations indicate that clearly.

If you believe that we should treat each other humanely (which I believe as well), then go volunteer at your local orphanage or soup kitchen. Go help the community and donate your time/money to make the world a better place. There's no reason why you shouldn't contribute to people who need it.

All your arguments against Capitalism have already been made in the 20th century. And anyone who's made that argument has already been proven wrong. Economics is just a system to organize resources. It's ****** to mention it with "humanity" or some other abstract notion.

If you want to help your fellow man, help him out. You don't need the help of government to donate to the poor and less fortunate.

Capitalism is neither humane or inhumane. It's neither moral or immoral. It's just a system of trade, practiced for centuries, and even the Arab merchants of the 7th century practiced it. If you think it moral for the State to dictate what you can or can't do (socialism), then you really need to re-evaluate what morality is.

Thatcher had a million things wrong with her, but her policies were way better than that clown Tony Blair, that's for sure

It's always amusing to see an African support neoliberalism.

South Korea advanced because of neoliberal policies. Now, South Korea (which was starving in the 1960s) is one of the richest nations in the globe.

Are you claiming that Africans are dumber than Koreans, and less capable?

I actually have confidence in Africa. You don't.

And remind us how well Africa did when neoliberal structural adjustment policies were introduced in the 70s and 80s?

Right.

Right.

None of it was neoliberal policies. Africa has stagnated in the last 50 years.

Compare Botswana to Zimbabwe. Which country is richer and more prosperous?

Botswana had more open markets and a freer economy, and they are VERY rich by African standards.
