Su'aashan bal ka jawaab

A healthy language evolves, borrows and adapts words from everywhere. If it doesn't, it dies. Marka, whatever the most popular phrase Somalis use to describe passing an exam will (also) be the correct phrase to describe passing said exam.

Ng, that's beside the point. Words that you assume to be the norm in qurbaha doesn't necessarily make them the norm back home. Hence why I want the Somali equivalent.

Taleexi, waad mahadsantahey.

Abwaan, su'aashaada jawaabteeda inoo sheeg.

Aalliyah: Af Soomaaliga cayaarta ka dhaaf
.... Imtixaankii waa ku cayaaray waxay la micno tahay - waa u dhammeeyey, si ba'an baan ula dhaqmay, waxba uma xeerin, iyo wixii kale oo la hal maala. Balse waa runtaa oo sidii la doono baa loo fahmi karaa thus, your analytical critiquing was not misplaced at all.

LOL thanks for providing an example of how "cayaarta" can also have a negative connotation. You are right it is not misplaced at all.

Haatu, su'aashayda maxaa la iskugu dayi waayeyna? Mise way adkaatay? Here is the answer anyway:

Optimist = Ilsanarag (il-san-arag)

Pessimist = Ilxunarag (il-xun-arag)

Can you imagine that I learned this from a Chinese guy who speaks Somali?:D
