How do you win (guul) an exam?? Najaxay sounds Arabic and not Somali. I think the correct expression is
imtixanki wan marey
(I passed the exam)....I think
:D

Since imtixaan itself is arabic..when I wrote "imtixaanka waan ku najaxay" it was a joke.

Imtixaanka waan marey waad dhihi kartaaa hadaad uga jeedid imtixaanka waan qoray..lakin hada suaashu waa "I passed the exam" ..waan ku guleestayna ayaa ugu dhow. Guul would mean in this context success. I suppose every language has its words that mean different thing depending what you are trying to say...

Imtixaanka waan marey would be interpretted by most as 'I've sat the test'.

PS: waan fadhiyaa oo buug iyo qalin baan sitaa Macalin :D

Guul = winning. You win wars, money etc you don't "win" exams. The Somali guul and the English win are used in the same way. Therefore,
imtixaanki wan marey
=
I passed the exam
. It's a literal translation and it works perfectly.

@Haatu, sxb sit down and learn from your betters
:D

Hadalku xaguu ka maraya in this case guul means success. And one can succeed in their exams. Tan kale literal translation never works ee ku noqo LOL
