President Hassan is right on Jubbaland/Azania

Kenya and IGAD are facilicating the conference and nothing less, nothing more. They facilicated all TFG conferences from creating the TFG to the recent "roadmap" meeting that gave birth to this Hassan Calasow presidency. Heck AMISOM still facilitate anything that occurs in Xamar, the president's election being one of them. Not sure what is so different when they are doing the same thing for Jubbaland. Again, who really cares where the meeting occurs as long as a fair and a reasonable maamul comes out of it?

Adigu what is wrong with doing the same thing in Nairobi?

Why ask IGAD to stop a conference that is already on the right track when you can't offer any alternative?

Mr. Hassan Alasow shouldn't pull Shariif here or not only he will fail, but also he will lose the trust of the masses in Jubbooyinka!

I have the answer why not hold 2 conferences one in Nairobi and one in Kismayo as some sort of compromise Like in Jubaland 1 conference iyo Jubaland conference 2.

^I got better one. Why not just redraw the map of Jubooyinka and have Kenya have it all to itself.

Zack is just mad the new president doesn't approve of the Odinga/Natenyahu alliance. Waryee that's what presidents do, protect the sovereignty of their nation.

That I welcome. Don't just "suspend" a conference that is on the way. Specially when u have no power to do that : )

President can simply name a governor from Azania for now, that may limit the tention. clans meetings is only benefitial for peace, not for creating administration. Somali must move on puntland style regional administration.

XX thats a resonable suggestion. To have two Jubbaland conferences, we share the same concern as the president for Somalias soverignity but the president should not oppose the wishes of the people.

Kenya is doing the show, you think the prosperity and peace of the region should be sidelined because of the image of the presidency and how little power it actually holds?

Now that the region is somewhat being liberated from Al-Shabaab, the president will appoint a regional governor like that has been done in Galguduud and Hiiraan. AMISOM/Kenya will facilitate the political progress nor matter what cause they are on the ground, so I think if the president wants it to look like he is in control, it should be done in Mogadishu and then in Kismayo, never in Nairobi.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has asked the Kenyan government to suspend the process of forming a regional government for Jubbaland. This process was underway in Kenya for some time. President Hassan’s call is in line with his duty as the leader of a sovereign nation. The issue here is not which clan will get what in Kismayo. The President can get the clan balance wrong. But that is not the real issue. The issue is soverignity and with the Alshabab on the run, it is now high time to demarcate the line on the roles of forien military and political forces. Yusuf Haji, Farah Mo’alin and Affey are Kenyans, they are not from Somalia. So, they have no business in meddling in the political affairs of Somalia.

President Hassan should take the lead in any political process involving the establishment of regional states in Somalia. He has a national mandate. All patriotic Somalis must support the President on this. It is not fair to trivialize the efforts of the President with unfounded conspiracy theories such as the one that says the President is “messing up the initiative as part of a HAG strategy to stifle the emergence of two D-block regional States”. If the President gets it wrong, those who feel aggrieved by his decision should seek redress through national institutions and take their matter to the courts in Somalia to fight the president. They should not run and seek succor from foreigners such as those in Kenya on a matter that is exclusively an internal problem.

Hogwash. I support the new president fully but he shouldn't interrupt a process which has been going on for such a while, and with significant progress about to be made. He should keep his beak out until Somalia is fully safe and able to facilitate the creation of regional governments. Somali Kenyans have been wise enough to attempt to find a solution to their brothers' problems and they should be commended not derided in such a weak and ungrateful way.

Who is organizing the conference in Kenya Nairobi for the jubaland state IGAD headed by Kenya, or Somali politicians in kenya like the guy on the left Yusuf Xaaji Kenya's current defense Minister.

Somalis never learn from the past! Anyone who is dreaming his kinsmen/tribe with the support of kenyans will benefit from this change of hands is daydreamer, BIG time. Let the people of this region sit and decide their future alone on their own without kenya.
