it begin when some english fools who needed supply for their colony in yemen needed livestock and protection for their ships in the gulf of aden. These fools signed some treaties of "protection" with Somali tribes in the north. It did not consist of regions but tribal territories. one tribe refused to sign any treaty with the English and went war with the english lead by the Sayid, known to the English as the mad mullah. Another sultan changed his mind and was shipped off to the seychelles where the english kept some high profile prisoners from their colonies. If your asking what those territories correspond with as for as the 18 regions, they are roughly awdal, waqoye galbet, togdheer, sanaag and nugaal which later was become Sool.

Twisting history to fit your narrow vision will not help you in today's race. British Somaliland was liberated by those who control it today through nonviolent means. Historical records will agree with this fact. It's only fair that the destination of Somaliland's future today, are decided by those who freed it from colonialism and afewynism. Those minorities who dwell inside Somaliland will be respected so long as they respect the rule of law. The union is null and void...

honest question abokor, are you completely crazy or just playing a fool? whose twisting history here, "british somaliland" ceased to exist in 1960 because the british decided to leave, their last governor made the case for Somali Unity and went back to Briton. So how did anybody liberate british Somaliland?
