Mahiga deputy traveled to Hargeysa earlier to communicate to Somaliland USC expectations of Somaliland to participate in Somalia's national conference organized by the UN. Even earlier than that, and when UN Security C met in Nairobi with Somali stakeholders, Somaliland reps were told what they are expected to do. Later Somaliland reps mischaracterized the nature of the conference for media conception.

I am hearing the argument Somaliland is making in these forums is that they will do what the UN Security C wants once a non transitional entity emerges from the conference. Looks like this is the only face saving formula left for the secessionists to come back and sit down with their brothers.

Somaliland was always prebared to sitdown and negoitiate once a real Goverment emerges that has a mandate of its people. Nothing new.

But hold your horses till a real goverment emerges.

All indications were that our region in the north was attempting to secure recognition before a legitimate government emerges from Somalia's civil war.

Oh how misguided!

If what you wrote above is true, it will be a set back for the 20 year long dream of recognition and the empty slogans of XX. Tolow caasimada haddii Hargaysa la geeyo Ayoub muxu ku diidi!

-Its the first time in twenty years that Somaliland was invited before the Security Council(first in Nairobi and now in NY).

-More then 10 Ministerial delegations have visited Somaliland in the last 6 months alone!

-Siilaanyo has visited more then 8 countries, where he has been invited by the Goverments!

In all those meetings Somaliland delivered exactly the same message, that it is seeking recongnition. The foreign policy strategy has been changed(something very common in the art of diplomacy), not the end goal.

Gheelle this is a big setback no doubt, no matter how folks like Carafaat sugarcoat it. Twenty years has passed, and the only thing secessionists can show for all the noises they've been making is a tilted relationship with Ethiopia, which puts them in a strategic disadvantage.

Siilaanyo is statesman leading a polarized people. He is like Pawlenty leading the Tea Party pack :D

Awoowe at the end of the day what is measured is the outcome , and judging by that the separatist movement failed spectacularly. I hope the process of remedying the affects of twenty year indoctrination had on the average folks will be peaceful. Unlike your wicked wishes on fellow Somalis, we do not wish a conflict between the mothers. Watching the First Mother ambushing the Love Mother won't please us awoowe.

Thankful

Lol@IRI! Now the NW Somali so-called FM is speaking in an empty board room at the IRI, and JB is acting like it has something to do with the title of the thread.

. Nicely said under the guise of a fellow Somali "brother". You want SL to be invited again to your misery? What has Somalia accomplished during that 20 years? These pathetic selling points need to cease asap.
