Cadde Muuse: #1 Sellout

I know the editor of the Shacab newspaper that got arrested in Garoowe, Cabdulqaadir Farey, and although a very controversial figure, he wasn't wrong in criticising the PL government. Granted, the man committed some character assasinations here and there, but the newspaper needs to sell. AfQurac has put him behind bars. I still have nothing to provide when asked about the positive aspects of AfQurac in office.

Yoonis

You misunderstood me. I said if this charade of Cadde continues, than even bring back Yeey if there is the need.

But you claim Cadde is a man of development. How so? I mean, does he have a history of working for or heading NGOs or participated in any kind of community development. We are talking about a man who came from Toronto to wage war for his clansmen, shipped in technicals taxless from Berbere port and set up base in Somaliland. Now I'm being too hard on him, but a saint he is not.

Yoonis, Awood Qaybsiga Beelaha Puntland is long albeit gone. Everybody can become whatever. And hopefully the multi-party system will come sooner rather than later. This tribal system is too dangerous. I agree with Xiin Finiin , I believe there should be another Grand Shir in Garoowe to reconsider the initial arrangements in order to gain a rocksolid foundation. Puntland is balancing itself momentarily on a onelegged chair and its just a matter of time when it will collapse.

Indeed Cadde was extremely lucky to beat Xaashi in the last presidential elections. Xaashi was destined for it and deserved it, but his fued with Faroole and the dissatisfaction of the SSC regions has costed his neck. Faroole undoubtedly has a solid support in the Nugaal region, that's his undisputed territory. Combine that with the decreasing popularity of Cadde in the SSC regions and the council of representatives and indeed we can conclude that that process has already started. How long was a president's term in Puntland again?

Furthermore, I don't understand why a moron like Gaagaab is the minister of Finance, while Faroole was the General Manager of the Somali Commercial Bank.

Baashi; always the wise one. The trouble with Awoowgey is that he is not firm enough. He is good at bantering but nothing further. But that does not mean we should sing for Faroole-- the guy has no leadership qualities or so I have heard.

Yoonis? Where did you get that info from? I think it is just my like my silly assertion about the "Holly Trinity".

Guys the road is ridden with qodxo; laakiin bal intaan qodxaxa loo gaarin gocondhadu yaaney cagaag-naanteena ka faa'iideysanin.

Generale: Where have you been old boy? Walahi I lost my mobile thusly I could not contact you dude. Give me a call ASAP Insha Allah.

Galkacyo and Boosaaso are both multi-clan cities. Boosaaso, for example, is the most heterogenous(clan-wise) Somali city in the North. So, what clan can claim it? None! Your argument bears no fruit - furthermore, you must consider the elders and intellectuals of Puntland who took part of the 1998 Garoowe Conference for fools, if they ever signed on to such a deal!

Promised to Cadde? More coffee shop talk from you, I guess. Everyone knows how Cadde came into power: In the 3rd round, Nugaal votes went to Cadde (as opposed to Md. Max'd Cabdi Xaashi). But the two candidates were dead-even in all other regions. Nugaal votes went to Cadde because C/raxman Faroole was so anti-ina Cabdi Xaashi. If Cabdullahi could ever promise victory in a Puntland election, he would've promised his own victory in the 2001 election vs. Jama Ali Jama!

Very true. However, he doesn't have a "General" or "Colonel" preciding his name. Only in Somalia will you find career military men and militia leaders who hold more prestige than the educated civilian class. That, my friend, is disgusting!

No one is singing for Faroole. Look at the issue from a contextual standpoint: regardless of the technicalities, Cadde signed a deal with a mysterious Australian named Terry. Plenty of pro-Puntland media has already opposed the deal Cadde signed. Are they all wrong for expressing their views? Faroole has not even spoken publicly about his stance - although Gaagaab was quick to insult him during the press conference! I believe someone already made the comment about how Gaagaab managed to slip in as finance minister while Faroole was overlooked for the position he held during Col Yeey's tenure!

Besides, as the Minister for Int'l Cooperation, isn't Faroole supposed to be in charge of an int'l deal, such as the one Cadde signed? There's something fishy in the water, I say!

Thankful

Oh really windtalker, your statements sound really interesting. You don’t tell the whole entire story, just parts of it. The elders voted Abdulahi Yusuf out of Power, something he refused and subsequently ended up taking Puntland by force and running Jama Ali Jama out of town. Qardo was Pres Cade Muse tribal land and was under control of Abdulahi Yusuf's militia. These are the facts okay! Pres. Cade went there to defend his people. Regardless of how you look at it. He did something that was recognized by the UN and other Organizations, including several Governments around the world. He made Peace with Abdulahi Yusuf, took his forces and made them join Puntland Army.

Are you serious? Look where Puntland is now, is there any tension on the Somaliland Border? Is there any Civil war going on? Because there was one way before Cade came, when Abdulahi took Puntland by force. Is there an airport being built? ASK ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN THERE, AND THEY WILL SAY YOU CAN SEE IT BEING BUILT. Pres. Cade has tough decisions to make. He must start getting money into Puntlands economy. Something no one has done in the past. You can complain all you want, but we will see what he leaves for Puntland when his time is done.

And by the way, the term is 5 years!

That's rubbish and should be null and void, good Yoonis!

Walaal Xiinfaniin, I wholehearted agree with your above statement. All I wanted to achieve is only to varify a perception. Do you think that I'm only content with the "caasimadda", for that matter I believe that the people are equal and therefore everyone could get elected regardless of what tribe he(note no she)comes from.

I want Islamist parties rise in the region and mullahs come out of their hiding holes. But that is, of course, a dream of my own.

Very intersting. However I'd like to see a new unelected assembly of saints or a majlisu shuuraa as the upper house of the Puntland State of Somalia's parliament. This unelected assembly of saints would be overlooking the legislation passed by the legislature (lower house, Goolaha Wakiilada)and act as the executive. The unelected house should be made up by the well respected Culumaaudiin such as the likes of Sheikh Cabdulqaadir Nuur Faarax Gacmay and Sheikh Dahir Cabdi.

Anyhow I would recommend all of you reading the constituition of the Puntland State of Somlia, which you can find here Dastuurka 'Puntland

Baashi Innadeer, wise words indeed we've to look at the bigger picture and what is at stake here. We should also avoid negative and destructive arguments and counterarguments and wait until the President addresses the parliament and the people of Puntland. "Seef labood mala noqodo" after we've seen it then we can comment on the deal singed in Dubai. Walaalyaal dacaayadda ha la iska daayo.

Uchi iga raali ahow if I said something that has upset you. I know the level of education of Mr Faroole who is also my adeer. I've seen his CV and in fact my father knows him a great deal aswell.

Iam also aware that certain branches of the Faroole family live in Australia. So don't take my criticism at heart because ilmo adeero baanu nahay waana la is yaqaanaa dee. Garoowana qof iiga xigtaa ma jirto ileen waxaa magaaladda wada dagan waaba anaga ciise riyoolaha(majority).

Anyhow coming back to the corruption issue, we all know what Faroole did during the administration of Cabdullahi Yusuf and Maxamed Cabdi Xaashi when he was "Wasiirka Maaliyada". A guy who last year returned from Puntland after living there said that Faroole was famous in the whole of Puntland for his character.

On the other hand he said "Cabdirixmaan Faroole dhan baa xaraan ka samaysan" because of taking public money/funds to further his career. Even Allpuntland.com gave an affirmation that Faroole might win the election in their election analysis of Puntland because he enjoyed superior money-spending because of his years as the "finance minister". He bought enough votes to prevent Maxamed Cabdi Xaashi to get president even in Sanaag where the majority voted for Faroole for no apparent reason except that he gave them some bribery. He didn't even campaign outside Garoowe, which was at the time described as a new innovative way of persuiting an election victory.

Also he took full advantage of the Maxamed Siyaad Barre regime where he was helped by his brother who also gave him an opportunity to study in Lebanon and other countries.

Faroole doesn't have any leadership qualties and I wouldn't certainly like to see him in office, although he is the closest to me clanwise but I prefer Maxamed Cabdi Xaashi and Cadde much more although they're not close to me like my adeer Cabdiraxmaan Faroole.

Yoonis? Where did you get that info from? I think it is just my like my silly assertion about the "Holly Trinity".

I think so sophist certainly it was the trigger and very thought provoking, just remembered me of the southern somali proverb "Marna Rashiid baa, Marna Risaaq miyaa, inta kale rooti baa.

Furthermore, I don't understand why a moron like Gaagaab is the minister of Finance, while Faroole was the General Manager of the Somali Commercial Bank.

Sky I understand why it is because of his previous deeds that's why. He can't be trusted and in fact the majority of the wasiirs under Abudullahi Yusuf's reign are all corrupt. But Faroole did his best abuse and at the same time benefited from his ministerial portofolio.

You misunderstood me. I said if this charade of Cadde continues, than even bring back Yeey if there is the need.

But you claim Cadde is a man of development.

Cadde is a man of development because of his actions, the new airport is a good start. One will be credited with his actions and Cadde is certainly someone who walks the walk instead of talking the talk.

he doesn't have a "General" or "Colonel" preciding his name. Only in Somalia will you find career military men and militia leaders who hold more prestige than the educated civilian class. That, my friend, is disgusting!

No one is singing for Faroole.

That's excatly what you're doing. You want Faroole in office don't deny it. You get too emotional about these things beside you cannot accuse me of tribal baised because Reer Nugaal baan ahay.

Nacnacdii Caasha Gheele baad na dhex keentay. Listen kid, this "deal" you speak of is a mystery created by those who hate a certain sub-sub-clan in Puntland (common denominator between Cadde & Cabdullahi).

Your argument bears no fruit - furthermore, you must consider the elders and intellectuals of Puntland who took part of the 1998 Garoowe Conference for fools, if they ever signed on to such a deal!

Do you think that I would despise my own people, hell no!!! So your argument doesn't hold up because I was only challenging a "perception" and a "remark" of certain perspectives.

I did not conclude that it was right, good, wrong or applaudable in any way. I was only giving an inside of certain perceptions.

Seriously Yonis, i really would like to know where you continue to recieve these unfounded facts about Faroole and his corruption days, i believe you would have known that his father was a well known religous person in the nugal region. So we would appreciate it if you could sieze these defamatory notion as he is clearly not your uncle, and any tribal association does not carry any merit. If he really did have any money to bribe, we would have seen it on his family and close relatives that live in Melbourne, Australia.

Somaliprides

Regarding your comments, yes 'No faroole graffiti can be found on the walls of Garowe, because clearly if you lived there, the faroole family is quite a large number, and keeping that in mind alot of the young people enjoy putting them up on the walls. Not that they are targeting the old man himself.

And about Terry Donnelly, he did infact take with him a number of Specialists from Australia with wheelchairs etc. But that doesn't excuse the fact that he didnt have his own agenda to begin with and that alone is the issue at hand.

Here is a small enews info I got of Terry Donnell's business circle you would have to be a registered Member at http://www.factiva.com/ (Dow jones $ Reuters) to access it: but you can find it here:

News and Information from Factiva -

Lets be realistic, would you put the lifes of the next generation in jeapordy by intrusting your land on a company that is based in Maldives, but again has investors from Australia. Quite honestly we are not obtuse, we can find an alternative company to do business with. But sooner or later someone will have to leak the contract , maybe it will be me or maybe the government will have address the public about the agreement, and we will all see the shocking figures.

However lets all be frank, the Presidents ambitions for Puntland is great, but surely he has to be accountable for his actions, if he doesn't take into account when given professional advice from within his government. Lets not forget Mr.Faroole intrusted his 15 votes from the last elections on to the President, he would't have done so if he didn't respect him. But then again thats why Faroole did not make a public announcement about this situation, surely he is waiting for the Presidents return and when he is in good health.

Uchi can I ask, when's the last time you've gone to Puntland? How dare you say that the lives of the next generation are in jeopardy! Do you realize their lives are in jeopardy right now as I write? That all they have ever known is living in jeopardy? Do you realize that never in Puntlands history, do the people have so much hope? Although it may not seem much, For them it is huge? No one has put such an interest in getting foreign investment into Puntland the Pres. Cade. Do you realize these guys have money and are willing to put it into Puntland, which will reach the people? And OF COURSE THEY WANT TO MAKE FINICIAL GAIN, CAUSE THAT HOW BUSINESS DEALS WORK, BOTH SIDES BENIFIT.

I have just returned from there and let me tell you, things are not as great as many may think. For those of us that have gone back and lived, life may seem good, but for those that have lived in Puntland all their lives, for many life is horrible. The majority of the Puntland Government and People support the deal. The Government endorsed it; Faroole won't dare come out publicly and say a word about it.

These people need whatever they can get, and insha'Allah this will get the ball rolling for future business deals. We can no longer wait another day.

No need in insulting an elder from puntland. Anyone that knows a little about politics should realise hes not solely responsible for mistakes made by his administration. Im sure he had good intentions as any other politician when they start but somalis are relentless when it comes to clans and any man would break down if his entire clan saw him as an immediate savior. If his boys from Qardo just let him catch his breath for a few minutes he might be able to do his job, but until our leaders are brave enough to stand against their own cousins they will be facing an up hill battle.
