Jabbuuti Deal: the political settlement we are all crawling to reach!

alshabaabs capacity to govern is
being tested

leadership
(

Hathal-kaagu waxaa laga dhadhaminaa an almost Freudian desire for the Islamic administration in Kismayo to fail so that Nur Cade/Shaykh Sharif/Yey can come flying in to the rescue with their self-proclaimed 'dawladnimo', 'qaranimo', and all the other code word 'nimos'.

The jah-wareer that informs your thinking is the same jah-wareer that caused Shaykh Sharif to stick his foot in his mouth by condemning, in the strongest language possible, the liberation of Kismayo from Malcoon Hiraale, at a time when Somalis around the world welcomed it as Guul Ilaahay uu soo hagay Umada Soomaliyeed.

Shaykh Sharif has undergone a full metamorphosis, completing his devolution from an admired and loved Islamist/Islaami leader to another jago-doon politician begging for scraps of 'recognition' from the international community.

Midaan iga jawaab: What is the 'leadership' and 'guidance' that Mr.Shariif has to offer to nimanka dhiigooda uu horay difaaca dal-ka, dad-ka, iyo deenta ? Will he teach them how to betray their brethren by condemning them from the airwaves ? Will he expound upon the intricacies of leadership from 5-star luxury resorts ? Will he tell them it's "OK" to sign documents that state that anybody who attacks the Tigray/TFG alliance is a 'terrorist' ?

Today, in that ancient city by the sea, a thoroughbred from the farthest North(Zaylac) holds court in the distant South(K-town). Such is the power of Islam-in-Action, something you sorry lot naliga indho-tiray. By one single appointment, the Sons of Somalia wiped away the filth of qabyaalad, something you sorry lot insist on with ur de facto acceptance of 4.5.

While Mr. Sharif prattles about in hotels, meeting with the AU, UN, EU, and all the other acronyms, the brothers on the ground are implementing practical steps to rebuild a destroyed country, ayaga oo kaashanaayo hal meel oo kaliya: Fa Tawakal Cala'Alaah wa kafaa billahi wakeelaa. And they are meeting with resounding success, wal xamdulilah.

And the peaceniks ? the intellectuals ? the seculars ? They bleat like sheep without a shepherd: "The Saudis will save us! Arab peacekeepers! Peace at any cost! I don't know what the heck I'm sayin! It just all sounds soo soo good! A puppet government is better than Ethiopian Occupation! Yey for President, Shaykh Sharif for Braying Minister, Xariif Shariif for Speaker! Unity! Reconciliation! Somalinimo! i feel all warm and happy inside! Guul Guul Guul!"

There's pathetic rationalizations and then on a whole different level, there's the sheeko ciyaaleed rag meeshan joogo constantly, day after day, laso shir-tagaayaan, even when their delusions are debunked, not by words on a screen, but by facts, actions, and reality on the ground.

Ay yo, I don't mind if people wanna eat babies or save the whales, just come at me with an argument that doesn't insult my intelligence and makes me post a reply at 2.41 am on a Ramadan night.

Yes, I feel better :D

belated ramadan kareems and early ciid mubaraks.

Shekh Shariif oo ka hadlay xalka Somalia

Gudoomiyaha Isbahaysiga dib u xogeynta Somalia Sheekh Shariif Sheekh Axmed oo ku sugan dalka Kenya ayaa ka hadlay xalka Somalia iyo khilaafaadka u dhexeeya garabyada is-diidan ee Isbahaysiga ARS.

Sh. Shariif, ayaa xusay in xalka Somalia uu ku jiro nabad la helo; taasoo uu ku tilmaamay inay soo afjari karaan mashaakilaadka iyo dagaalada ka jirta gudaha Somalia ee maalin walba dhaca.

"Somalia nabad ayay u baahan tahay, anagana dagaal waa nalagu kalifay maahane ma jeclayn, waayo waxaan ku badbaadi waynay guryaheenii, haddii maanta la helayo nabadna in la wado waa arin lagama maarmaan ah" ayuu yiri Sheekh Shariif sheekh Axmed.

Mar uu Sh. Shairif ka hadlay xaalada dalka Somalia uu haatan ku sugan yahay, wuxuu ku sheegay inay ugu waaweyn yihiin amnidaro iyo macluul baahsan, isagoo sheegay in dhibaatooyinkaas waxa looga bixi karo ay tahay nabad.

"Dadka macluushu khatarta hada ugu jira waa 3.5-Milyan, haddii aan la helin nabadna si gargaarka loo gaarsiiyo ma lahan, iyaguna qaab ay ku shaqeystaan ma jiro" ayuu mar kale yiri gudoomiyaha Isbahaysiga ARS oo ku sugan Nairobi.

Sh. Shariif wuxuu sheegay in dadkaas ay ku badbaadi karaan nabad la helo, isagoo carabka ku adkeyay in hadii aan nabada laga shaqeyn xalna aan la raadin ay dhacayso in dad badan oo aysan xabadi dilin ay macluul u dhintaan.

Gudoomiyaha ayaa sidoo kale ka hadlay khilaafka u dhexeeya Isbahaysiga ARS ayaa sheegay in garab walba uu aaminsan yahay fikirka uu qabo, balse ay yihiin dad ay soo wada halgaleem oo ay walaalo yihiin.

"Fikirka ay qabaan walaalaheena kale wuxuu noqon karaa mid saxsan, balse waxaan aaminsahay inuu keena ka saxsan yahay uuna kaga dhow yahay wanaaga, isla markaana nabad deg-deg ah lagu gaari karo" ayuu yiri Sheekh Shariif Sheekh Axmed.

Gudoomiyaha Isbahaysiga dib u xoreynta ayaa jeediyay hadalkan mar uu xalay la hadlayay Jaaliyada Soomaaliyeed ee Magaalada Nairobi, waxaana garabkiisa taagnaa gudoomiyaha golaha dhexe ee Isbahaysiga Shariif Xasan Sheekh Aadan.

I differ from my dear freind Kashafa on Shariif's ultimate goals (I don't think is solely about jago). Sheikh Shariif's latest manouvers has frankly proven my assertions about him being naive wrong (with his recent friendhip to the State Department).

However,I still fail to see the peace Xinn is so obssessed with. Peace with whom? With the crumbling TFG? The right language for Xinn should have been peace between Sheekh Shariif, Al-shababa, and other liberation forces so that the transition is made peacefully. I see no role for the TFG.

There is where I differ with good brother Xinn. Who, by the way, banished me from my roost in the general section with incessent Salafist banters and back-hand deals. :D Xinn, I saw your parades of victory on that section where you went on endlessly about my age and what I should and I shouldn't write. Let me tell you I refuse to leave my coocon inside the sensual parts of human body as far as story-telling is considered. You put up or shut up. That I am not there, is as a result of protest more than a heeding of your draconian advice. :D

^"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies. "

Indeed, the TFG has very little substance when one looks at the big picture apart from strunting their muscles behind the Ethiopian tanks in Mogadishu they have very little say anywhere else in Somalia, nevertheless the diplomacy of the peace talk is a step forward rather then backward in my books.

You ask,"Peace with whom", I dont know what eyes you see the reality of the Somali conflict, despite the new memontum of the Al-Shabaab and their sucess in Kismayo, the country is still very much fragmented within tribal enclaves.

Does the struggles of liberation in Mogadishu viewed the same in Puntland/Somaliland/Jubaland/Maakhir state/Somali Galbeed etc etc ,or is it reer hebel's problem and not mine kind of mentality?

The latter dimension is not going to be resolved by the DDjibouti dialogue anyway, dear Malika. You need to see the Somalia conflict in phases. The first phase now is stoping the active fighting in Southern Somalia and ensuring Somalia's fate is back onto the hands of the Somali's again. The Ethiopian are keen to get out (forced to do so- The TPLF/EPRDF are going for a retreat to the northern town of Bahir-dar this week with Somalia the main agenda). I hear they are utterly dismayed by how things turned out there. So, in the face of this backtracking from their backers, and the general hate for this rotten government from the Somali public, where is their relevance coming from? As far as I understand, the TFG doesn't represent Somaliland and Puntland.

Th second phase is bringing all players (South, Puntland and Somaliland) togather and there is where all-inclusive talks and compromise will be most needed.

This is not the day to argue about politics. Since the blatancy of the intellectual dishonest of some of my fellow solers is hard to close the eyes to, I feel compelled however to point out few gaping holes in Tolka’s reasoning.

For starters, the Somali conflict is NOT, and has never been, a one between religious oriented groups as good Tolka man misleadingly suggests! It’s between secular Somali factions backed primarily by their respective clans (and at times by external forces). Whatever disagreements exist among Somalia’s religious movement will evaporate as soon as Ethiopia’s forces withdraw. If one or two movements stubbornly insist continuing with the violence, the absence of the occupation grievances will eat away their support base, and eventually render their struggle ineffective! It follows to reason, holding peace talks between these muqaawamah movements at this point of time to put some semblance of governance in place is missing the point. For Somalia to stand up again, the real challenge is to strike a compromised deal between the secular warlords (apparently tfg is the last standing faction of that group), and those in the opposition group whom the value of sitting down with other group does NOT escape from their consciousness! And that is where the Jabbuuti deal comes in! It’s truly a manifestation of a political maturity in Somalia’s clan laden political settings. It’s real. It’s coming! Its aim is not to let one group dominate or dictate Somali state’s future shape and composition. Rather its purpose is to try to transition the country and take to a stage where Somalis can once again enjoy the blessings that come with having a functioning state!

In the context of 18 years of anarchy, the exodus of millions of Somalis from their country, the divisions, and the external exploitations that exacerbate our conflict, in the context of all of that, opposing any efforts to close this chapter of our history is unacceptable to the most Somalis. The puritans can insist on punishing warlords as much as they want, but the wise ones have bigger problems to solve: reviving a state whose people are deeply divided!

And with that said, lets pray for peace to take root in our land! Gaaladanna shartooda allaha naga duwo, quluubteennana allaha isu soo dumo!

The only noises that seem to coming from the fellas that signed the dotted line at Djibouti are:

" Intarnatshanaal kammonity needs to send troobz to save us from birates"

" UN needs to send us troobz to replace Ethiopians"

and

" Carabz, please send troobz to Somalia".

By all your logical definitions the Djibouti accord has been a complete and utter failure, if we measure it by what it has designed to do; namely: implement a ceasfire on the ground. The only real success of Djibouti is that the ARS has been divided into opposing splinter groups. I bet those Western diplomats are laughing at the amatuer Somali politicians. And some talk about uniting Somalis!

There is no such thing as compromise between and Islamic and secular groups, sxb. Either the Islamists will abandon their calls for a Shariah state and compromise to accept( surrender in plain english) to a secular/tribal charter. Still though, they wouldn't be the first Islamists to do that( surrender to the secular system) in this modern day and age.
