Remarkable indeed but not entirely unexpected, is it?

Any authentic news on what, if any, alert the TFG has put its "armed forces" on?

Somalia's prime minister sacks US-backed warlords

Somali Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi has sacked four ministers, also warlords, who were involved in deadly clashes with Islamic courts militia over control of the lawless capital and its northern outskirts, officials said on Monday.

Gedi fired national Security Minister Mohamed Afrah Qanyare, Commerce Minister Musa Sudi Yalahow, Militia Rehabilitation Minister Issa Botan Alin and Religious Affairs Minister Omar Muhamoud Finnish, a government spokesperson said.

"The prime minister, chairing the council of ministers, has sacked all the Cabinet members who have been involved in the fighting," said Abdirahman Nur Mohamed Dinari.

The four warlords, members of the United States-backed Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter-Terrorism (ARPCT), had defied several orders to stop fighting with Mogadishu's increasingly powerful 11 Islamic courts since February.

In the latest clashes on Sunday, the Islamic gunmen seized control of the strategic town of Balad township, around 30km north of Mogadishu, as the alliance fighters fled to the regional town of Jowhar, about 60km to the north.

The seizure of Balad, a strategic supply town for the warlords, put the Islamic courts within striking distance of Jowhar, which is controlled by warlord and leading alliance member, Mohamed Omar Habeb, and home to several aid agencies.

In addition, Gedi invited the Islamic courts to take part in dialogue with a view to ending the clashes that erupted in February and have so far claimed at least 347 lives and injured more than 1 500 others, many of them civilians.

"The prime minister has invited the Islamic courts for dialogue," Dinari said.

The largely powerless Somali transitional government is based in the regional town of Baidoa, about 250km north-west of the capital.

The ARPCT, formed in February, has reportedly received financial and intelligence support from the United States to help fight the Islamic courts, accused of harbouring foreign fighters and having links with extremist groups such as al-Qaeda.

The courts, which have declared a holy war against the alliance, deny the accusations and claim the warlords are fighting for the "enemy of Islam". The United States has refused to confirm or deny its support for the ARPCT. - Sapa-AFP

Let's hope they don't demand to become the next government. The useless government in Biadoba should use this latest victory to their advantage.

I hear it is extremly excting time for the 'Fadhu ku dirir' gang and brisk business for the Somali biibitooyin.

Apart from that am still gettin to grips with all this different warlords AND how this new develoment may affect Somalia, i'd hate to see another all out war.

The courts now need to establish order and governance pretty soon.

Salaan...

Now comes the hard part as always who is going to run day to day activities,oh by the way did this mean stolen houses will be returned...

The fighters of these fake wadaado with their equally misleading "Islaam" cloak are the residents of those xalaalized "stolen houses." That is why you had supporters of these war-mongering wadaado ku sheega on Tarbuunka on the other day, ironically dadka xabbada leeyneyso waa so-called supporters oo iyaga ah.

Teeda kela Xamar qabqable lagama sifeynin wali. Muuse Suudi Yalaxoow is there, in the whole discrict of Kaaraan; so is Cumar Filish, in Wadajir [Madiina]; so is Cabdi Qeybdiid in a crucial road block to Afgooye. So is even the minimally defeated Bashiir Raage and his junior Beebe at Shibis and Boondheere. Caydiid Junior of Filla Soomaaliya, of Wardhiigleey. Cismaan Caato of Isbitaal Digfeer, Isbitaal Banaadir and Lafoole.

Many sudden experts in their cushy keyboard-ku-dirir of this prolonged Muqdisho conflict on this board, what they completely miss is that at one time in early '90s, Xamar, nay in the much of South, was completely in the hands of one powerful and biggest warlord of our Soomaali civil war -- Caydiid the senior.

In those days, the only part he didn't control were suburbans of Kaaraan and one main intersection in the middle of the city that united three degmooyin -- Isgoyska Dabka.

Caydiid thus controlled more than what the so-called courts can even dream about to control now, before his militia was pushed back, which later became the de facto invisible line that officially separated the city -- green line or qadka cagaaran.

As Soomaalida dhahaan, aragaane. Aragaane wixii kasoo baxo.

Dagaal dambena Eebbe Xamar iyo Soomaaliyaba kama rido. Aamiin to that.

Wax kaso baxay maleh aan aheyn fidno.

There is already the talk of creating a big regional government expanding from Shabellede hose, Banadir and Shabelede dhexe. And ironically under the leadership of Indhacadde how that will go down with the others who were defeated is a question and an obstacle. Secondly does these waddads have a total control of Mogadishu then how come we still have Muse, Raage, and the untouchable Qeybdiid in the city. The latter was never confronted neither were the USC/SNA who control Villa Somalia and its surroundings. Now whether this is a strategic move by the so called Islamic courts or whether they are incapable and fear for their own power base only time will tell, cause labadu magalada ma wada qaado.

The other issue is though the TFG said it would make ionroads in dealing with the Islamic Courts , wonder how that will be done. Will they include them in the parliament, the cabinet or otherwise. What sort of bargaining chip does the control, if ever there is, of Banadir has. Or on the other hand do the new command ,Islamic courts, recognise and want to deal with the TFG?

One overiding question that is been hidden by the exicitment is how fragile or concrete is the unity of the Islamic courts themsdelves?

Could be good that the uncertainty and brutal regime of combined Warlords has come to an end but what will the so calledIslamic courts rule bring needs to be seen.

MMA....Amiin to dat horta...Not big fan Gardheerayaal..huh..loool

Runtaa waaye laakin...Gardheer won't have any credibility if they don't disarm Caato, Qeybdiid, Aidid Jr, basically the lot from Mudug and Galgaduud. Lets hope for our sake, they disarm all militias, and peacefully engage with all parties mostly importantly "the muda-lood" lot who are already feeling cheated and robbed.

Xarago.....Fidno Meesha Kama Maqna...This is Somalia afterall, but one thing that came out of this is the vaporization of warlord invincibility.

Why do you not want them to claim the next government of Somalia? What is the point of Allah's Book and Message if they can't deliver a system of governance for the people?

By the way, if the warlords that selected the president of the so-called government that is based now in Baydhabo are kicked out from their fiefdoms in Muqdisho, again, what is the point of having him as a president, when indeed he was the same, and still is, as those now-vegabound warlords of muqdisho?

Now, let's hope the Islamic courts to become the true representitives of the people that will embody the values of Islam, and materialize the perfect system of God in our social and privite lives.

........well, its coming to that soon, insha-Allah.

These courts will have to make a deal if not they will be brought down to earth.

But alas this Ale Ubahane has no idea what he talks about, he is living in fanatasy world. The warlords who opposed the governemnt, Bootan, Qaynyare, Sudi, Mohamed Dheere are all gone. One must thank the courts and the people of Mogadishu for that.

ehehe, is that you, the one living in fantasy, who thinks the victory of Islamic courts intangible, or me who thinks their is no government in Somalia, and Cabdullahi Yuusuf is another criminal to be brought to justice for his war crimes against the people?
