Somali govt (la haystayaal) says going to peace talks with Islamists

Recommended Posts

As long as one single foreigner soldier remains on Somali Republic soil, UIC should not reopen talks with the Ethiopian agents in Baidhaba. Most of these agents are hostages themselves and can not speak theirs mind in a free environment. If president Yeey and PM Geed are afraid for their personal safety, they have to go to Nairobi or to Addis while the Khartoum talks are under way; but the Ethiopian troops have to leave immediately and get out of Somalia. No more foreigner mediators. No more the deceiving Kenyans in the middle of debating Somalis. The oil and army embargo on President Yeey and Geed and their foreigner masters must be tightened if they pursue their doomed strategy for bringing tigrean soldiers to Somalia. Dowladdnima ummadda Soomaaliyeed waa in ay dib u soo noqataa iyada oon qofna ka xarig xiran, waxaanna taa dhalin kara maxkamadaha. FREEDOM lives on the shoulders of the true sons of the motherland who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the wellbeing of the majority. If some of Somalis are not ready to die for Somalia, the existence of Somalis as respectful citizens of the world is in a great jeopardy.

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia's government said on Saturday it had decided to attend a third round of peace talks in Sudan with rival Islamists.

The dominance of the Islamists, who control much of the south after seizing Mogadishu from U.S.-backed warlords in June, threatens the Western-backed interim government's attempts to impose central rule on a country in chaos since 1991.

In September talks, the two sides agreed in principle to create joint military forces and reconvene on October 30 for power-sharing talks on political and security issues.

"We have decided to attend the Khartoum talks," Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi told a news conference in the government's provincial seat Baidoa, monitored by Reuters by phone from Mogadishu.

"We are ready to implement any agreements reached ... We are ready to play our role in achieving a solution to the Somali problem."

An Islamist official said the Islamists were hoping to leave for Khartoum on Sunday.

The two sides have met twice in the Sudanese capital for Arab League-mediated talks that have produced little other than a promise to recognise each other and not make any military moves.

Negotiations stalled after government allegations the Islamists had broken the pact against military expansion by seizing more territory, and Islamist claims of foreign interference in Somalia.

Islamists say Ethiopia has sent troops to protect the government of Abdullahi Yusuf -- the 14th attempt at effective central rule since the 1991 ousting of a dictator.

Addis Ababa denies any incursion although it says it has sent several hundred armed military trainers.

"It is the Islamic courts who breached previous agreements reached in Khartoum," Gedi said. "Instead of appointing their committee to represent them in implementing the agreements they started fighting and expanding their territorial control."

The Islamists flank the administration on three sides and have stopped fuel shipments reaching its sole outpost.

Gedi said parliamentary speaker Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan would lead the government delegation to Khartoum, despite legislators saying this month he had quit that role.

"The speaker of parliament is still the leader of the government delegation. We only heard from the radio that he had resigned, we have not received any official notice," Gedi said.

Many fear the stand-off could erupt into a regional war, sucking in Ethiopia and its rival Eritrea, which denies charges of sending weapons to the Islamists.

Kenya, as chair of regional body IGAD, will jointly mediate next week's talks.

If president Yeey and PM Geed are afraid for their personal safety, they have to go to Nairobi or to Addis while the Khartoum talks are under way; but the Ethiopian troops have to leave immediately and get out of Somalia.

-------------------------------------------------

Who is gonna make Ethiopian troups leave Somalia? You? They were invited by the gov of Somalia, a gov recognized by the UN. They don't take orders from Nayrus.

-------------------------------------------------

No more foreigner mediators. No more the deceiving Kenyans in the middle of debating Somalis.

-------------------------------------------------

You claimed Arabnimo, so they brought you Arabs to mediate you. What do you want now. Everyone, incluning Arabs, know that you are not Arab. So keep the Kenyans out of this. The least you can do is thank them for welcoming the people you are displacing with your guns.

-------------------------------------------------

The oil and army embargo on President Yeey and Geed and their foreigner masters must be tightened

-------------------------------------------------

People who talk about oil embargo, must first of all have oil. Do you have oil? No, you don't. Case closed. As for the old man, he will procure oil through Bosasso, Berbera, Djibouti.

-------------------------------------------------

their doomed strategy for bring tigrean soldiers to Somalia.

-------------------------------------------------

The Tigre army will soon be in Somalia, not because C/Y invited them, but because the Klan Courts invited them with 17 declaration of Jihad since June 1st. Soon you will find out what the Tigre is made of. So you need to stop blaming the old man for this.

On a more technical note, the president, as the highest official on the land, can invite whomever he wants, he doesn't need the authorization from any clan.

Eastleigh businesses have also brought tremendous competition to the market place, which has had a negative effect on many of the Asian businesses in particular. The Asian community has hitherto controlled most of the retail business in Kenya, yet the owners of these businesses can now be seen purchasing their wholesale merchandise from Somalis.According to Narayan Mehta, owner of a city centre hardware store,

Most Asians don’t like to admit it, but the Somalis are really cutting into our businesses. They are willing to live and work in Eastlands areas where most Asians won’t even visit -Narayan Mehta

The cornerstone of this development, the famous ‘Garissa Lodge,’ serves today as asymbol of refugee businesses in Eastleigh. Many Somalis resided in this former guesthouse before its transformation into a modern retail shopping mall, officially renamed Little Dubai but popularly referred to as ‘Garissa.’ From small scale ‘black market’trading in hotel rooms, today Garissa houses 58 stalls in which everything from designer clothing to electronics is sold at incredibly cheap prices. Compare the price of, for instance, a ‘real’ Sony radio (be sure, there are many fakes). At Garissa Lodge the goingrate is 350 Ksh. An identical radio sold in the city centre goes for 500 Ksh. In the commercial centre of Westlands, a wealthy suburb, the same radio is sold for 600 Ksh.While this is only one example, the table below shows the price differential of many staple goods and services consumed by the majority of people

Throughout the 1990s Eastleigh was transformed, largely by Somali businessmen, from a residential community to the commercial centre of Eastlands, and increasingly much of Nairobi.

the Somalis have also created work for local Kenyans, many of whom are hired as low-wage, unskilled labourers. More lucrative jobs include working on Somali-owned matatus and as mechanics. With the general infusion of capital in the area, Kenyan residents of the larger Eastlands area, of which Eastleigh is the commercial centre, increasingly turn toward this refugee-dominated section of the city to seek out a meager living. For many, chances to earn a day’s wage are higher in Eastleigh—the informal economy—than the city centre. In fact, most of the large-scale commercial businesses in Eastleigh are now part and parcel of Nairobi’s formal economy, where greater numbers of the city’s residents are increasingly turning for access to cheap goods and livelihood opportunities

somalis in Kenya are putting big paper in the Kenyan economy

People who talk about oil embargo, must first of all have oil. Do you have oil? No, you don't.

before you engage yourself in a discussion make sure you know what your talking about!

Nayruus wasn't talking about oil in the ground

he was talking about the oil imports that go trough the mogadishu port to Baidoa

so does he have oil?

Case closed.

Six Ethiopian soldiers who arrived here opposing the racist policy of the TPLF regime disclosed that at a time when resistance is gaining momentum within the Army, the regime is resorting to increased atrocities by imprisoning members of different ethnic groups.

They noted that many Ethiopian soldiers are defecting to different opposition organizations and fleeing to neighboring countries opposing the brutal and harsh measures the TPLF regime is taking against members of the Army.

EMF) 11 Sep. 2006 -- Son of the renowned Afar spiritual leader Sultan Alimirah, Ambassador Hanfare Alimirah has defect to America making the total number of defectees to Sixty-three, Sources said. Ambassador Hanfare Alimirah was a Charge D’Affaires; Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary in Kuwait. Another diplomat, Mesfin Mideksa, first Secretary in Brussels has reportedly been in Maryland, USA meeting with lawyers to facilitate his asylums.

Dr. Biruk Hailu, Plenipotentiary and Ato Gizachew Bizuayehu, Counselor in Paris have been reportedly left the regime for political asylums in the USA. According to our sources from India, another diplomat, Eyerusalem Bekele, secretary in India has also defected Meles Zenawi's brutal regime.

Sixty-two diplomats and staff members from various Ethiopian Embassies and Consular Offices left their job over the last three months. The total number of diplomats who left the regime after the May 2005 election is more than twice than the number in this list, which is believed to constitute nearly 75% of the diplomatic staff.

Two commission members, who were assigned by Meles Zenawi’s “Inquiry Commission” to investigate the massacres against demonstrators in June and November 2005, have reportedly left for Germany with all documents which expose the regime itself of using excessive force against civilians.

EMF (Washington)- Wife of Kassahun Ayele, TPLF Ambassador to the United States of America has decided not to return back home to protest the gross human right abuses by Meles regime, sources said. Ambassador Kassahun Ayele, whose term finished by the end of this week, has been called by the TPLF authorities to Ethiopia. He has been serving the TPLF regime since 1993. His wife w/o Haregewein Abebe and his two doughters will remain in the United States but the fate of Kassahun Ayele is not yet known.

EMF (Amsterdam)- The TPLF Ambassador to London, Ato Fisseha Adugna, has defected to the USA, a reliable source told EMF.

This confirms the suspicions that something was about to happen since Ato Fisseha had recently sent away his wife, son & daughter to the USA.

Also the Press Officer at the Ethiopian Embassy in London, Ato Wagaye Birhanu, also defected to America two weeks ago. The former Press Officer at the Ethiopian Embassy in London, Ato Efrem Mehrete-Ab has also defected and sought political asylum in the USA.

Ato Fisseha is an important member of the establishment having served 8 years as a councilor in USA Ethiopian embassy prior to five years as ambassador in London.

This is good news for those struggling for the oppressed people of Ethiopia, as it confirms the gradual breakdown of the Meles brutal regime.

Several reports are coming to EMF that confirms the defect of top government officials.

TPLF Diplomats in Holland

Two professional diplomats have also defected earlier from the Netherlands that made the activity of the office very difficult. Source close to the consulate office in The Hague told EMF that the consular is stuffing its office with persons who do not have work permit in the Netherlands, the criteria being only their ethnic identity. Other diplomats in The Hague, including loyal TPLF servant Ato Mohamed Berhan (Zimam, Alex and Nohomi) are sending their families to London. This indicates that the remaining members of the consular are also preparing to defect the Meles regime.

Top Diplomats

Diplomat Workyie Birye, a chief Ethiopian councilor at European Union has defected to USA to protest Meles crackdown on dissidents.

Source told EMF that Mr. Henok Mengistu, chief legal councilor at the Ministry of foreign affairs has defected to the USA.

Ethiopian partnership delegation seeks asylum

Four Ethiopian politicians who were on an official visit to Dublin have applied for asylum rather than return home, it emerged today.

The men were on a six-day visit to launch a partnership between their towns, Werabe and Butajira, and South Dublin County Council.

The council said its officials had gone to meet the men on March 27 when they were due to fly home to Ethiopia.

“Unfortunately they didn’t turn up for that meeting and we subsequently discovered they had applied for asylum in Dublin,” said spokesman Abe Jacob.

The partnership programme was designed to build up the skills and experience of government officials in Ethiopia in delivering services.

According to the Irish Examiner, the four men are from the ruling party in Ethiopia and had been staying at the Clarion Hotel in Dublin.

The Ethiopian Embassy has expressed its embarrassment about the development and has contacted the council to seek its continued support for the partnership.

“The universal view is that we should continue with the project, that the project is bigger than any set of individuals. We’re determined to press ahead with the project,” said Mr Jacob.

Ethiopian officer defects to Germany

Sept 24, 2006 (BERLIN) — Defections in the Ethiopian armed forces continue unabated. The latest to defect is Maj. Tesfaye Yemane, an officer in the Ethiopian army, the opposition Ethiopian Review website reported.

Maj. Tesfaye told Germany radio (Deutsche Welle) the Amharic service Wednesday 20 September that he is seeking political asylum in Germany, where he was taking a six-month course.

Tesfaye, who served in the army for 15 years, said that he decided to defect because the atrocities the Meles regime is currently perpetrating on the people of Ethiopia has bothered his conscience.

Several other officers are taking various steps in opposition to the injustice by the regime against the people, Tesfaye said in his interview with Germany radio.

He added, the people of Ethiopia are currently living in a hell-like condition.

In the past two months alone, two generals, several colonels, and other high-ranking officers have defected, and most of them joined member organizations of the Alliance for Freedom & Democracy.

Brig. Gen. Kemal Geltu defected to Eritrea with with 150 Ethiopian soldiers on 10 August. Since, he was followed by several defections.

Ethiopian officers who joined the OLF

By Staff

Sep 18, 2006, 17:56

Asmara, 18 September 2006 - Two senior Ethiopian Army officers who recently joined the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) abandoning the TPLF regime said that serving the repressive regime is a historical crime.

In an interview with Eritrean Television, Brig. General Hailu Gonfa, who was a senior official in the Ethiopian Defense Ministry and Col. Gemechu Ayana, commander of the 8th Mechanized Force said that the Ethiopian people have gone through untold suffering over the past 15 years and that they have been repeatedly putting forth demands to alter such a state of affairs but to no avail. The two senior army officers went on to say that as their demand fell on deaf ears, they were compelled to raise up arms against the regime and thus join the popular struggle.

bgen_hailugonfa1.jpg

In Eritrea

Brigadier General Hailu Gonfa

bgen_hailugonfa_180920061.jpg

They stressed that the Army being part of the people should serve a popularly elected government and not individuals. The two officers further pointed out that as the majority of members the Ethiopian Army have come to understand this way of thinking, they are being subjected to heinous repression on the part of TPLF cadres.

Stating that the regime is making futile attempts to pit the Ethiopian people against one another on the basis of nationality, ethnicity and regionalism so as to prevent them from fostering unity, Brig. General Hailu Gonfa disclosed that this same divisive policy is being practiced by cadres within the Army who have no sense of patriotism at all.

Colonel Gemechu Ayana

colgemechuayana_18092006.jpg

Recalling the defeat of the TPLF in the 2005 elections, Col. Gemechu Ayana emphasized on his part that serving this illegal clique is a historical crime, and as such it is naive to think that such a brutal regime would change its ways.

In a message they conveyed to the Ethiopian people, the two senior Army officers called on the population to continue their resistance in an intensified manner. They particularly reminded the country’s Armed Forces to direct their weapons against the bloodthirsty regime

you want to tell me with all this mayhem going on in your own house your going to sustain a long long war against a determined people ready for battle

but remember you don't respect Somalia's sovereignty

listen ato Mogadishu is the largest city in Somalia over a million people live there and they support the ICU

besides that there were protests in over 40 towns across central and south somalia

then we have another region cum country called Somaliland and the administration there doesn't recognise the TFG

so there you have it a clear majority that doesn't recognise the TFG as a real government!

well that's more than i can say of the TFG

You might have some points there.

many many points

whom you have ignored for some odd reason

Sld doesn't recognize the Courts either

never said they did! red herring!

but TFG has more chance to bring them (SLD) into the SomaliWayn fold.

last time i checked the residents of Buroa weren't burning thousands of newspapers that were critizing the TFG no those newspapers that were burned were criticizing the ICU

and ICU won't invade P-land or S-land as you are hoping

the respective locals will implement their own courts

and there will be a national forum like the ICU called for in the past if these talks don't progress

So tell your uncles to stop threatening them.

that's strange i didn't know the president of TFG was threatening S-land

i've must have missed something

don't think all puntlanders have the same political stand as brother duke

You are making it sound like the Courts believe in elections.

my my my

if the ICU only practiced the same form of elections and democracy we see in Ethiopia

we would be one happy nation wouldn't we??

kkkkkkkkkkkk

in exodus 20:1-17 it's says

that includes people's lands

tell your uncles they need to return it to the rightfull non tigre and amhara owners

We will return the lands you confiscated from unarmed clans and the rest we will hold it for ourselves. For ever.

I love it...qix..qix..qix....That is exact what uncle lord lords of U.K. and uncle sam sams of USA are telling Mele Zanawi to leave Somalia alone because if religious war breaks out, it will be the end of the Ethiopean Empire. The wish of Somali nationalists is written on the walls and my friend xabashi is blind enough to see it. War is what Somalia needs and war it should be.
