Somalia Campaign (resources for a PR campaign)

Recommended Posts

The Guardian is very responsive. You can email any journalist there via this method. firstname.lastname@guardian.co.uk

Recently, Cameron Diadou, Simon Tisdall (deputy editor), and their East Africa man Xan Rice. Have written on Somalia. Cameron Diadou and Simon Tisdall are very clued up on Somalia. I'm writing to Gary Younge today. He is high profile.

Sad to see the The Independent not taking Somalia very seriously It mainly covers enverionment and iraq, very prominently.

People, word up, you need the media very seriously. The campaign needs to be relentless and clever. It has done wonders for the Jews, now it is time for Somalia.

The Guardian

Write a well written and coherent letter. Don't make long.

Simple and effective and very hard-hitting is the best.

If you want to send the mail in just one shot, a idea from a previous poster is very good. Simply write the addresses in the BCC field, and leave the top fields empty. Write your subject title and send it.

Are Anti Muslim for the most part, not familiar with the rest (Madeleine is concerned with religion and youth, i remember she did a big research last year on Islam and women, and she has wrote few things about Africa and poverty). If you choose to e-mail writers Please take time to research what field they cover and what influence they have if any, don't waste your time e-mailing people who are general racist, islamphobic or nationalistic in foreign policy

Dear Sahardid,

Thank you for your note

You may be aware that we have published many articles on the situation in

Somalia by (among others) Harun Hassan and Paul Rogers; some of them are

here - http://www.opendemocracy.net/author/Harun_Hassan.jsp

We do our best to present careful, detailed, objective analysis as far as

possible on the basis of slender resources and many demands on our time. We

will continue to do this to the best of our ability.

Yours sincerely

^^^The issue is not who is wrong, and who is right, who is clean, who is dirty, I really could not care less, because fortunately for them, the ones with the guns never suffer, nor do they die (otherwise by now they would have finished each other 16yrs is a long time) The ones who get caught in the middle and who die, lose their homes and kids and a lot of the times their life are innocent by standers, and struggling people who have tried for the last 16yrs to build something in the worse conditions. They are getting abused, raped and murder simple because they are caught in the middle of 2gangs. It is them that need our help, it is them that need US to give them a voice above those who claim to speak for them or represent them yet killing them in 100s.

The best way to get them voice is to use the media machines and get their stories to the wider community and the generally masses, who will in turn pressure these animals to leave the poor people in peace.

If you are in London or around London, and you want to show your oppose what is happening in Mogadishu, please PM me. We need to meet up as soon as possible.

The civilians are being bombed mercilessly and the Americans have joined this bombing campaign. We need to organise ourselves as quickly as possible and organize a demonstration.

Letter writing is very important but it is not very suficient considering what is happening in Mogadishu right now.

Lets do something for change.
