There are many Somali young people in the music industry, we only speak of K'Naan, but in fact there are many more --- especially in Canada, i don't know about the US. We have plenty of talented kids in Canada including Siham -- she's the sister of a good friend of mine, and i just heard her new material produced in Atlanta, but she's from Toronto. Check out her myspace, and listen to her tracks -- she's really good. You also check out a good friend of mine, Kilo Tonne, he's from Canada as well... also headed towards ATL to work with some producers there, he's also talented and focused at a such a young age -- what do you guys think of their music?

AF, they're both very talented indeed. And what better place to grow that talent than in Atlanta. If these guys went to American Idol, they'd sweep. I'd buy their music if it were sold on iTunes.

I never heard of Siham. As for Kill-your-tone unlike K'nan this dude might have commercial success: First he has that third world flavor going for him and he can actually RAP: I was listening to a freestyle of his last year (a non-Somali schooled me about him ka waran) and I literally got Goosebumps dude.

 

Rhyme scheme was consistent: versatile: Voice was clean and clear: his delivery was on point; with a little more experience the Rap world could be his oyster.

Indeed they are talented – they’re music should be heard everywhere, and they do have commercial appeal as supposed to k’naan.

 

Castro their music is not on itunes yet, but hopefully it’ll be available there, I can forward you some tracks from Kilo Tonne I have most of them, he will be releasing a mixtape soon– he’ll have a website too, where tracks can be downloaded as well.

 

Lastly, about them not looking Somali – it’s their pose, but in person they do look Somali – I doubt that matters thou.
