Khalaf, perhaps you should re-read the entire text of the sermon before you defend al-Hilali. I'm particularly interested in how you reconcile the following passage with your conviction that the Mufti was not excusing rapists:

quote:

“But when it comes to this disaster, who started it? In his literature, writer al-Rafee says,
if I came across a rape crime, I would discipline the man and order that the woman be jailed for life. Why would you do this, Rafee? He said because if she had not left the meat uncovered, the cat wouldn’t have snatched it.”

“If you get a kilo of meat, and you don’t put it in the fridge or in the pot or in the kitchen but you leave it on a plate in the backyard, and then you have a fight with the neighbor because his cats eat the meat, you’re crazy. Isn’t this true?”

Honestly. Isn't it true?
Thanks for pointing that out, I didn’t read that part, it wrong and rejected. The victim is never to blame and has no fault weather covered or not. I have said that all along and every decent bani adam would agree.

We are missing the bigger picture however and that is does this promiscuous-immoral society-the West which devalues the women and presents her sexually (biggest industry is what?-yeah the porn industry) produce crime against women? I think it does: what like every 3 minutes a women is raped in the states.

What Taq Din al-Hilali said in the Ramadan sermon and what he later claimed to have meant to say (read: his copout) are very different. The article mentioned that he has not mastered the English language, despite having lived in Australia for twenty-four years, and that may be a factor -- albeit, a teeny-tiny one –- in his poorly-chosen use of that meat analogy. He ought to resign, and then enroll himself in an ESL class. Once he learns how to say what he means and mean what he says, al-Hilali should write a how-to book entitled What Not to Say When Explaining the Virtues of the Hijab: For Dummies and he should then donate the proceeds to the Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault (ACSS).

I find his assertion that women are almost entirely to blame for the sins people accrue in acts of adultery more shocking than the actual comment about "uncovered meat". Al-Hilali seems to be working with the ignorant yet still prevalent belief that women are innately sinful and wicked, and any act of sexual impropriety of which they are a part -- be it consensual or not -- is something they ultimately brought on themselves and the men. The reprehensible logic behind that is more in line with Biblical absurdities, which can be traced back to early Christian accounts of Eve's role in the 'original sin', than anything written in the Holy Qur'an. In saying my Qur'an this and my Qur'an that, I cannot help but wonder if al-Hilali was subconsciously, and of course mistakenly, thinking of his copy of Genesis. I suppose we will never know.

Really? Your verse prescribes something, it doesn't assign blame or the punishment of rape if it's not followed as far as I can see. It doesn't let men who rape off the hook and it certainly doesn't speak for non-believing women. So what exactly does it back up for your opinion?

Koran: 33:59"O’ Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their veils over their bodies. That is most convenient that they should be recognised and not be molested.

The above ayah shows that the hijab protects women from rampant desires of men and their attempt of molestation since the woman's body is covered and nothing would be stiring the men's desires coz they wouldn't see nothing.U can't want what u can't see coz u don't know whats behind there.Take that as another approach if my other approach wasn't enough.

What is the Moral Principle behind the veil?why were women ordered to cover themselves up? They were ordered to do so for their own good,to protect them against the evil desires and afflilitions that they might sexually be subjected to and by having the veil, women would be 1.saving themselves and 2.saving some one else from committing a sin. It's that simple.Simple in all aspects and yet Women would ignore hijab when infacts it sheilds them from everything.

P.s.The koran was sent to all mankind and to the jinn,so anything in it Generally refers to those two beings.By the way,Who would leave alone a Hot chick with a Fancy bikini?Or who would leave alone a hot chick that got dazzling boobs like Tyra banks? icon_razz.gif

If everything is functioning as they should be,one should be aroused instantly. No man would leave a hot babe alone,if one doesn't do anything, one would atleast bother her with some lame line or something.I mean its natural.lol

I was wondering about that too.

The word you emphasized is not an accurate translation of the arabic word in the Quran which means 'harmed'. The molestation (which in this context, you gather as sexual) translation is surely filtered through the bottom-half mentality rampant in religious translation.

"I have not left behind me any temptation more harmful for men than women." ( Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

LX you are missing the point sxb, the women are talking about accountablity about mans actions. Men are accountable if they commit crime woman has no blame, she is not shamed, its not in her power and the sucker should be hanged-period. But there are sick ppl in this world as the Quran says: "those in whose hearts their is disease", thus islam sets guidelines.

Cara says a woman is safer in NY bull, America is rich country, with all these resources, government, and women are raped every three mintues according to statistics! What about places where there is poverty, corruption? Walk down the street in mini skirt some sucker comes tell him "please mister be a man take resposbility." Dont work like that. Thus Allah has set guidelines for your protection.

Xalane, I can't believe you're presenting your immature sexual fantasies as arguments!

Isn't it interesting that, according to you clever faaraxz, a woman either wears the jilbaab or a bikini? How does that work? Are you guys immediately transported to a Brazilian beach when you think of a non-Hijabi?

Please.

Most of you live in the West. You probably interact with women who don't wear a hijab through work or school, or you sit next to them on trains or you buy stuff from them in the shops.

If you get aroused at every turn or if you can't control urselves, then why don't we see more of you chasing 'uncovered' women around town with your weenies? Eh?

Ridiculous and illogical, is all I can say.

Khalaf,

Could you tell us where you're getting the rape rates please?

This figure sums up rape stats in the US since the 70's. According to it, rapes have gone down drastically, even as women continue to dress provocatively (and yes, as the porn industry booms):

Why are there rapes decreasing, in America, despite most women not wearing burkas?

Where are the 'freedom of speech' brigade?

The Freedom Brigades!!!!!!!!! who said there is freedom of speech and "Drawing Cartoons" as showing Prophet Mohamed??????
You misunderstand the concept of freedom of speech. It does not mean you do not face public condemnation if you say something racist, sexist, or just plain stup!d. Freedom of speech means you shouldn't be killed, physically harassed/threatened, etc for expressing your opinion. No one is going to burn down embassies or call for the beheading of this "mufti".
Atleast you now know the limits of Freedom of speech...When they were abusing our Dear prophet..Everybody was saying..Jyllands Posten was within Freedom of expression limits..Were those not "Racist"..cartoonists?????

This time though, let them not cry coz as expressed "These are real meat"..& millions concur with the sheikh..By the way, it was just a "similitude"..of expression..Not real things..

Issues that touched them down their ways of life..am sorry...

...The sheikh is expressing freedom of speech...just as the cartoonists.

Please Burn down our Embassies.... smile.gifsmile.gif or Do I say?

Brother Khalaf,as of the accountability of men's actions, its very clear that the blame belongs to the aggressor but even so,knowing that there are men out there who would do anything so as to get what they want, and the fact being that women know this, why not cover themselves up and avoid the chance of the risk? Why take the chance bro? and by the way, doesn't rape fall under oppression and illegal sexual intercourse?True, any Sucker who forces himself on a poor woman should be liquidated but my point or opinion rather, was about ''covering themselves up',so as to atleast avoid a probable risk.To my opinion, the sheikh was misunderstood or maybe he used the wrong approach and thus resulted in his message coming out in a way that he might have not intended to,but in either case,he too (the sheikh) knows the punishments of a rapist. That is not in a doubt bro.Khalafow, that being that,we have on the other part some women saying or rather claiming that the women have a right to clothe themselves as they want, that women should walk around with their red thongs with out being bothered.Who wouldn't bother them? Its that ,that am kinda opposing. :D

Does your chart prove anything? 59% of rapes go unreported. America is has the largest cases of rape: Somewhere in America, a woman is raped every 2 minutes, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, this is result of their immoral culture.

And this is in America which has law enforcement, judicial system, resources, what about the countries who have none of this in place? Do you think it would be safe for women to walk the streets in mini-skirt? No that is why hijabed is prescribed, mahram, islamic guidelines which protects the women.
