Living in europe Vs Living in Africa or Asia

Recommended Posts

I was talking to one of my new friend Today morning in nairobi telling me he is looking for any-means he can go to europe and he has $20.000us to spend for that, i was into his shoes for awhile comparing opportunities in Africa and europe though i don't have much experience in europe i pictured opportunity he may assess in africa and threats as:

Opportunity: educated Late 20s or early 30s with twenty Thousands US-Dollar can invest business in kenya and minimally earn 10% Profit.

Threat: Nairobi market is hectic(There is no long run reliability, No indusry specialist or consultant) and Business may get losses where he will not have chance to get such finance but again strong person with knowledge of sustainability can survive and may make money.

In the another side i went blank cuz i been not to europe. I am posting this topic in the hope to get to know what are the opportunitis and threats for such guy in europe as advice for da friend.

Would you please share your experience in europe in terms of Lifestyle, jobs, and whatever that has to be considered by considering long run and short run.

Thanka,

Yaabka Haaji

Life in Europe, very shortly, paralyzes you and those around you and is quite miserable.

But you're not looking to hear that. So I'll tell you what you want to hear: life in Europe is great. There are plenty of opportunities, jobs and lots of wonderful things. Everyone here is happy and making a lot of money.

I am sorry if that was of no help. I am a little gloomy today.

^Its better being a refugee in Europe then Africa..[lol]. Investing in business in Nairobi could be tricky, unless he is in the know how and who in town,$20.000 might not be enough, investing in Africa is a risky business..I would say,let him come here ONLY if he has an AIM..Hadhii kale,he will be like many, meelahaas ayee iskaa tagtayihiin without purpose..I know people who have come here and after 5yrs have gone back home with qualifications and enough money to start a business, build houses etc..marka if you know why you left home, then here is ideal..Work is there depend on what one does, hadhuu kaa xishoneyniin shaqoo, whatever that is..be cleaning, waiter etc etc..

Good luck to him!

Tell him kaalay oo is dhiib aad biilka ila dirtidee. Koley ku aamini mayo oo wuxuu ku oran maxaad meesha iigu diidan tahay.

Best or worst advice depending how you look at it.

The difference is that in the EU you get citizenship after meeting a clearly defined criteria. In Africa or Asia that is not possible (in most cases).

What is citizenship? Is it important?

^Not if you can have a fat wallet.

Legal documents is what most people are after I guess especially those with few dollars. Unfortunately, the only way to get those papers is isdhiib iyo qaxar.

Qolyo baa laga sheegay inay yiraahdeen, "hebel muxuu ka tukan kipanda ma heystee." If you can't bear that much abuse, then kaalay sharci hel ku dheh saaxiibkaa.

A wise man would stay and invest his money there but most people Somalis not in Europe ( and that includes North America & Down Under ) would give an arm and leg to get Europe, so if the dude's heart is set of wanting to get here then let him come and advise him of the bit falls that he will surely have to overcome.

The clever ones are those who came, saw, got the passport and left and in all fairness it seems passport will give u an easy ride in Africa/Middle east, in terms of starting a legal business and getting residence permits.

Isn't that what we always say? It was for my friend, not me smile.gif

In any case, seeing as I have lived here my entire life, I would lie if I said I didn't like it here. You are asking whether the donkey likes being a donkey. What else do I know of? But because I like studying others around me, I've come to learn that Europe does more harm than good for the good majority of Somalis. We are a weak nation and we bend and break very easily. So unless you were born into this madness or came at a very young age, the chances are, you'll sink into learned helplessness. And even if you were born or came young, the changes still are, you're still going to sink into learned helplessness.

Unless you are made of steel. In which case you will succeed anywhere, even where you are right now (or your friend is).

If he's looking to start a business, he should go to the US. If he's planning to just find any place other than Africa, he should go to England and live on the dole the rest of his life :D
