A 34-year-old khat user who says he loves the feeling khat gives him; it keeps him awake. Chewing khat can be socially acceptable in a country where drinking alcohol is not.

Salaan...

Waajidna saan maa u dambeysay? Haduu jaad Waajid saan u gaaray wax haray maleh.

Ceel Cali Jeedo wali maku yaalaa taloow? Reer Taruuri taloow ma degan yihiin? Reer Aadan Yare [Cabdiraxamaan Ibbi's father]? The best two months I had spend there in early '91, drinking fresh caano gaal and lo' every day. Dankis, dankis Eedo Xadro, who sidee noo quudineysay nucmaan ku noqonay.

This isn't funny you guys. It's tragic. That woman should be teaching, shame on her for lowering herself so easily.

Khat trade is creating famine in the Horn beacuse its more profitable to grow khat than crops.

What the .. The woman is trying to survive. She's forced to do this. How can she teach, if nobody can pay her allowance.

Boolshidh. Droughts cause famine in the Horn.

Well we dont know her circumstance but it would help if she could still teach, there are pleanty of private educational establishments.

Khat contributes to famine, do some research.

Plenty, but not enough to employ every teacher in Somalia obviously.

Khat plays a small role in this. Of all the agricultural land in the Horn, only a small percentage can grow Khat. Coffee yes, but not Khat.

If you could grow Khat anywhere normal vegetables and fruit grows, every square inch of Somalia would be used to grow Khat.

Hehehe. Aniga waxaanba la yaabanahay. Waajid haddeyba heerkaan gaarsiisan tahay, Burco oo kale ka waran. Hoogey!

Somalis don't grow khat. They import that shyt from Kenya and Ethiopia, which is even worst than growing.
