Some of my fellow Khatumites on this fora will not agree with me but Khatumo State has to deal with the new realities of Somalia. Our president Sh. Hassan and his government have secretly and publicly showed no interest of having a neutral position with regards to northern Somali clan enclaves therefore, Khatumo has to have a nominal/loose relationship with the Federal Government, mind its business and try to foster a good relationship with its regional neighbors for instance PL & SL. I'm sure the upcoming Somalia and "SL" conference will not amount to anything if SL is given a freehand of representing other clan admins in the north however, the biggest threat of Khatumo remains to be within.

Letting every clan to import weapons may not be a wise thing to do. Managing, collecting and controlling the arms we've already have should be a matter of importance.

If history sums up to anything. There has never been a clear winner in Somali politics and in light of our social fabric there will never be ONE. All we need is a political justice, as long as that is absent; Somalia shall never see the light of normalcy. Nevertheless, the potential is there.

Lots of things are not going right for Khatumo but this land is no longer a disputed area rather contested by two admins. SL has to rethink her long standing of representing all northern clans. Hope the transition occurs with the minimum loss of human life and material wealth.
