sounds like the usual toronto issues, nothing new about it. I think i've heard more than 50 cases where the wife called the police on her husband and the guy ends up locked up behind bars and some are beaten by police. the lies these women will say to get their way and how innocent they act. Shoot...they need to wake up and realize that they're only hurting themselves, she aint got no job and now with the husband locked up; who's gonna provide? i can totally understand those women who actually are being abused and call the police (but really, just how many of them are really being abused?). it is a serious problem in the community and the somali mothers need to get out of the "i'm a free women" box, cuz it aint real.

i dont know about other somalis, but i myself cant stand going to see a doctor. The thought of being locked in a small room scares the devils out of me* no clue why*; i'd rather moan and cry my eyes out then see a doc ... often times when i get hit with a serious case of the flu ma literally has to drag me to see the doctor. check ups was another thing my mother was big on, "call the doc and set up appointments! school's about to start and you all need to get your check up" back then it was 'the eye' that did the trick or sometimes mom would come along to make sure i didn't sneak out. hada lakeen, she's given up..'bout time i say, cant remember the last time i went for a check up. so yea...there's that little fear in most people*not somalis only*, fear that going to see the doc might turn up something they dont want to hear. odd but..hey its a fear, however irrational it might be.

List of 'cant live without stuff': 1-microwave; the stove is simply not fast enough. 2-ipod/mp3 player...any music playing gadget. 3-washing machine *three weeks without a washing machine during our stay in syria was pure hell* 4-fridge; oh what a wonderous invention! being without it would be absolute torture. 5-ACs- toronto gets HOT in the summer...and without a proper AC; :rolleyes: you might as well throw yourself in the oven (feels like you're in one anyway). 6. computer cant live without. 7. digital camera i think i carry a camera around more than i do a cell phone...gotta snap up everything i see. 8. answering machines one can simply listen while the callers goes on and on...helps you decide whether you want to actually pick up the phone not; usually go with the 'not' . 9.those ticket booths you see in theaters where you can just pay with a card rather than stand in line for hours...saves you time; oh how i hate line ups. 10.Escalators/elevators; i often times stomp my feets and make a fuss when an escalator stops...its a serious problem, some folks just can't handle running up or going down several flights of stairs. Its cruel to force them to :mad: ... that's about it for now...
