The delegation led by the Somaliland Vice-President , Mudane Ahmed Yusuf Yasin arrived in Erigavo to a warm welcome from thousands of residents. The delegation which also included the Somaliland minister for Civil Aviation, the Deputy minister for Resettlement, the minister of state at Home Affairs, several members of the Somaliland parliaments and other government officers were met at Yufle, 25 km southwest of Erigavo by the Sanaag regional administration and hundreds of residents before proceeding to Erigavo. Prior to their arrival in Erigavo, the delegation had already visited Sool and Sarar regions, during which they met with local dignitaries and held discussion regarding the situation in those two respective regions. Vice-President Ahmed Yusuf also took part in an inaugural ceremony to commemorate the creation of Sarar region which was held in Aianabo. On the way to Erigavo, Vice-President Ahmed Yusuf spoke to the people of El-Afwein to thank the residents of the town for their warm welcome and to convey a personal message from the Somaliland President, Mudane Dahir Rayale Kahin. Remarkably, the Vice-President arrival in the region coincided with the arrival of heavy rains which are much anticipated and heralded the start of the rainy season. As chair of the Draught Relief committee, Vice-President Ahmed Yusuf recently called for a national day of prayer of the draught stricken areas of Somaliland. Also given brief speech at gathering, Mudane Ali Mohamed Waran'Adde, the minister for Civil Aviation assured the people of the region that the Somaliland government have began to take steps to protect the economy of the area from price inflation caused by illegal and counterfeit money coming across the Somailand border. Mudane Ali Mohamed stated that it is the first obligation of the Somaliland government to secure and developed the eastern regions of the country. The Vice-Presidents' delegation are expected to visit Togdher and Sahil region before returning to Hargeisa.
