  1. It is quite a paradox that you would read Juan Cole and Zmag yet support the TFG. If these two and Ariana didn't get you out of the dark and into the light, I don't know what will saaxib.

May be your motto is blood is thicker than common sense. :D

  2. Insurgents and Ethiopia-backed Somali government troops have exchanged heavy artillery fire in Mogadishu.

Both sides claimed to have won the battle, fought with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades, inflicting high casualties on the other.

Witnesses in the capital say at least four civilians were killed when a mortar hit their house.

Years of conflict and drought have left more than half of Somalia's population needing food aid.

But aid workers have also been targeted recently and pirates have made it difficult to deliver food aid to the country.

The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan in Mogadishu says the clashes began when Islamist insurgents attacked a government base.

An Islamist spokesman told the BBC that more than 10 Ethiopian and government troops had been killed.

He admitted that two Islamists had been killed.

An army colonel said 21 insurgents had been killed and an armed truck captured but did not give his own side's casualty figures.

There is no independent report of the casualties.

A ceasefire was signed last month between the government and one Islamist leader but the violence has continued.

Ethiopia sent troops into Somalia in 2006 to help government forces oust Islamists who had taken control of Mogadishu and much of southern Somalia.

  3. ^^^^^ I asked you for evidence of your statement yaa Stoic. I didn't ask for the gospel according to Oodweyne.

That I already knew. It's all good though, brother.

I'll look forward to your coming out party in another thread. :D

    lol. The irony is suffocating.

  5. Now, we all know that people from Awdal, Significant parts of Sanag and Sool, not to mention the silent majority of he clan whose name is abused see themselves as being part of the proud people of Somalia.

You'll make friends with Xiddigo really quick. :D

This is really murky territory. Who knows what the numbers really are. There are no reliable statistics on this. "General" sentiment is no substitute for actual numbers.

The secessionists (and I'm not talking about the public or SOLers) do have their hands full, that's for sure.

Reer Awdal oo Addisababa kaga mudaharaaday Somaliland

There's something wrong with this title. I think it's bogus. Reer Awdal (a.k.a. the G-unit :D ) don't "mudaharaad" much. So I'm surprised they'd bother to do so, and in Addis Ababa no less.

    Ma calayna.

    :D

In that case, we'll both be speaking Amharic and singing the praises of Puntland while claiming Dukie has always been our best friend. A snow flake has a better chance in hell though. :D

    I have time. :D

And don't move the goal posts now. Here's your original statement, in case you forgot:

    because of his mercilessly
criticism of everything Somaliland has achieved

NGONGE, I'll hold you to this:

  8. ^^^^ Come on yaar. Who said it was 50/50? Aside from a tiny minority in other clans, the proponents of Somaliland are overwhelmingly from a single clan. It's a painful truth but you gotta face it man.

because of his mercilessly criticism of everything Somaliland has achieved

Name one achievement of Somaliland I "mercilessly" criticized?

Oodweyne repeats that Marxist red herring whenever he responds to me so he wouldn't have to answer anything. ;)

You too may be feeling an uncontrollable urge to come out of the closet in this thread but this is NGONGE's coming out party. Get your own. :D

  9. Dukie Smith, how soon you forgot .

The TFG is led by Geedi and Jurile who truly piss me of, what on earth do we need to fear from ourselfs that we need Ethiopia to come to our rescue?

I understood the argument for peace keepers but a full invasion by Ethiopia is nonsical, who will get them out? I fear these Ethioians much more than any Somali, warlord or wadaad..

If this happens the TFG is finished...

And in case you missed it the other day, Somaliland, with all its shortcomings, is today head and shoulders above Puntland.

That ought to give you enough heartburn for this evening. :D

  10. Castro: Mr. Oodweyne, welcome to the Marxist hour on TV. We're glad you could join us.

Mr. Oodweyne: Yes. You should be glad.

Castro: What is it that you'd like the audience to know about you and your political views.

Mr. Oodweyne: Do you have time?

Castro: Not really. Summarize in a few words.

    Mr. Oodweyne: I'm a staunch believer in secular democracy and colonial-style ( :D ) democratic institutions, a la Somaliland. I'm also ....

Castro: I'm glad you brought up Somaliland. What is the current status of that region or area?

Mr. Oodweyne: The state of Somaliland is the best kept secret in Africa®. It's an oasis of stability®. It's a state of the people, by the people and for the people®.

Castro: Can you describe it in your own words without using any clichés you've read somewhere?

Mr. Oodweyne: Somaliland is my home, my land, my people's land. Our dream after that nightmare union with the dreadful Walweyn. It's pure and homogeneous. Just as we always dreamed.

Castro: What about the minority clans that live there?

    Mr. Oodweyne: What about them?

Castro: Well don't they count among "your people"?

Mr. Oodweyne: Are you crazy? Not those riffraff. We're only using them to get recognition.

Castro: Speaking of recognition. How is it going on that front?

Mr. Oodweyne: It's going very well. We're almost there. We have a couple of things in the works. Ethiopia and Israel have indicated strong willingness to recognize us. And the US promised if those two great and friendly nations recognize us, that it too will shower us with recognition and aid.

Castro: Is there a time frame on this?

Mr. Oodweyne: Time frame? Stubidh. What time frame? All we have is time. The Walweyn are busy killing each other or getting their a$$es kicked by our friend Ethiopia. The wretched, fake, pirate-full, money-copying gangster infested piece of cow shit Puntland is no threat to us. All we have is time.

Castro: So at this time, it is fair then to say you are a region of Somalia waiting to secede?

Mr. Oodweyne: No, it is not fair. We've already seceded.

Castro: But no one recognizes you as an independent state with recognized borders?

Mr. Oodweyne: Who gives a shit?

    Castro: About recognition?

Mr. Oodweyne: No, about you and what the M00ryaan like you think.

Castro: But it's not just the M00ryaan or other Somalis, Mr. Oodweyne. No country in the world thinks of you as an independent state.

Mr. Oodweyne: Like I said earlier, we don't care who doesn't recognize us. We are one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all®.

Castro: Does that include the minority clans?

    Mr. Oodweyne: Fcuk no!

Castro: Well, Mr. Oodweyne, we've come to the end of the show. Is there anything else you'd like our audience or the world to know. Please keep it brief.

Mr. Oodweyne: We've struggled for centuries to free our land from the clutches of Walweyn, Faqa$h and all sorts rubbish Somalis. We have never been closer to reaching our dreams as we are today. So to all you homeless, no country-having, wretched haters: You can kiss our a$$ from Saylac to Las Caanood.

Castro: Thank you Mr. Oodweyne. Good luck to you.

Mr. Oodweyne: (under his breath): Good luck to you Walweyn duli qaxooti. Uff.

It took a million words for you to finally utter some truth. Even if by accident. :D

Power is always in the hands of a few. No matter where you look.

    I'll see you around atheer.

  12. then in that case we are safe from seeing the sight of good old Mr. Castro trying his luck with us, in-order to deny the existence of Somaliland on the basis of "Dialectical Marxism".

    Deny the existence ..? lol.

I didn't take a vow of silence atheer, I said I would take a break. And I will.

And just because you (and LANDER) are paranoid, does not mean they're not out to get you.

    Carry you on lads.

I'd say Mr. Oodweyne is slightly removed from reality and not just the region.

    Ma calayna.

  14. ^^^^ I've lost interest. Besides, there's nothing to disagree on here. I agree with you that SL is different from PL. But I will add that both suck and today, one sucks more than the other. And their brother in the south sucks the most.

  15. deploying all manner of insinuation and diatribe to any debate that he finds himself in neck deep.

Mr. Oodweyne, which part tickled your fancy most? My favorite was the de facto pregnancy. It was an awesome analogy. Perfectly timed as well. lol

I wanted to get NGONGE to stay up late tonight but he wouldn't bite.

I'll heed your advice and take a break. This debate is getting on my last nerve. Also, I can't be chasing minyaros and fighting secessionists all at once. I've got to prioritize. :D

  16. ^^^^ I couldn't get past the first few sentences of the "sterling" job. You mistook my ridicule for playing semantics.

That you are exerting all this effort in this "coming out" thread of yours is telling saaxib. You're convincing yourself of Somaliland and dragging us all with you.

Be strong. Don't waver. Don't let me dig up a thread you wrote some time ago when you were squarely on the other side. You were either confused then (which is ok) or you are confused now (which is also ok).

P.S. There are no goal posts in this "debate".

  17. ^^^ You could still get all of those while working. It's not one or the other.
