Seeker.....I had the opposite experience and it was someone that didn't particularly like it. I am thankful for good friends and family but was disappointed in my Somali community. N I run over a cat again. Coofle...That was profound!

^Never too late to start.

Wadani, I guess so. Pakistan has entire genre known as Hamd songs dedicated to the Praise of God mostly. The late Nusrat Ali Fateh was leading figure in this genre but I liked the song below by Adnan Sami Khan. The morning TV started with this song
-
^If there's an entire genre, isn't that going overboard?
-
I could appreciate this as art form but I never understood why there's need for songs or a particular art dedicated to the Prophet (PBUH).And isn't inherent contradiction in what they are doing?

Blackflash, I imagine they tried to lay down their roots somewhere much you like did.

All that money and taxes would be better used in Xamar or Garissa.

Somalia: The Structural Weakness of the Provisional Government
Che -Guevara replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Haatu, there's a lesson to be learned from the all entities that tried to rule Xamar since the start of the civil war and that's their failure to establish a proper working government for Benadir before embarking on securing the rest of the country. I think this government must prove itself by establishing viable government for Benadir that's managed and paid for by Somalis. This means setting up proper security solely dedicated to Xamar and paid for by Somalis, building the district institutions including police forces, investing infrastructures by inviting the diaspora and friendly countries, and creating a mechanism to collect taxes but also offer basic services. The Government can slowly expand into neighboring villages and towns. All this doesn't mean, the Government should disengage from the provinces. They need to work with them and come to political solution. -

No government could exist without guaranteed stream revenue or if it's being undermined by the very people it should be ruling. -
^ I am not really sure but I think they understand Somali person's politics is mostly determined by his tribal affiliation or believe some tribes are committed to Al-Shabaab than others.

One of his better articles, Something to think about specially for those who are ranting about Jubbaland, do you want a Somalia with vilable strong central government that that could offer services to its people and is not at the mercy of foreign countries and entities or Somalia with a weak which is subject to foreign whips and has tribal states that are proxy states of the neighboring countries.
