  1. OG_GIRL, I agree with you sis. I perfectly understand and know that. However, I didn't like what wind-talker said. That was too harsh LOL.
  2. Che-Guevara, If I had fears in going back and building in Xamar, and I had other options or places where I think my long term future interests of safety and security can be met, I would opt for the latter and forego my birthplace. It will take some long time to come for people to have no reservations. If the situation improves and tribe is relegated to the background, rule of law is forecully applied wherever and whenever required, these questions/concerns won't come to people's minds. So for now, in the immidiate future, it is better for everyone to invest where they feel secure, or wait to see the outcome of what is going on. Wind-Talker. Were you invited there or you are just ranting in expression of your tribally based bitterness?
  3. Nationalist, People support governments for corrupt ignoble reasons sometimes. Anyway, I still don't get what group you are talking about!! I am a little slow in deciphering coded language. PS. Government is for everybody. If it works fine, if it doesn't, Life goes on. The country is big enough for everyone to settle in their corner if nothing works. Remember that. Dhib ma jiro. Why the fuss and personalize too much?
  4. You guys worry too much about nothing. What constitution? You are Somali provided your father is Somali no matter where you are born. This so called constitution means nothing. A toilet paper's worth if you want my honest opinion.
  5. LoL@Charisma, how do you know all this stuff?
  6. Nationalist, Who are the Nobles? Can you say who are the nobles openly instead of leaving it to our imagination?
  7. Classique, Thanks. Very nice post. I knew you were the good feminist in the area LOL. Keep it up Abaayo.
  8. Imagine dealing with a complete stranger to you that you know little about? No matter how god fearing they are, you have to get to know them, you have to be patient, learn how to express your disagreements in a pleasant manner, forgive a lot, avoid meaningless confrontations, be responsible, work hard, think collectively instead of privately. You have to completely learn new behaviour to succeed. So What is so easy about that? It sure is easy for some who are endowed with good character to naturally blend in with the new life, but I would assume most people would need to learn new attitude to stay and make the relationship work no matter how religious they are. I don't believe just because someone is religious you gonna find them perfect. May be they are easy to deal with by reminding them their priorities in life and make them calm down or back away from what they intended to do that was harmful, nonetheless, they are just like anyone else out there who need to be dealt with. It is better to see Marriage for what it is; A contract, an interest, maintaining decency, having kids, requirement of patience, being responsible, working hard for the rest of your life once you move from singlehood to companionship. I think if you get out of the marriage contract eighty percent of what you are looking for, that is enough. There is no perfect woman for sure as there is no perfect man out there. Better stop dreaming and get ready for the difficulties ahead. There is no paradise waiting for you in marriage I think. It is nice to have someone who cares about you and you care about, someone who does a lot of things for you that others wouldn't, but in the end, it is a struggle no matter how good things work for you or not.
  9. If a certain inventor is Brittish, scottish, Irish, Or German in origin, In America, They are Just Americans and their Origin is given no consideration. America does buy smart people and gives them Citizenship. Very good idea if you ask me. And then America is nothing more than an Immigrant Society in the first place.

  13. Sheherazade, To thee and thy company I bid A hearty welcome. We couldn't have asked for a better treasurer
  14. I don't like aristocratic societies and King/Queen bs, So America rules Once the brittish get rid of the Monarchy, They can talk about Americans. But as long as snobs are yelling "Long live the Queen", It is gonna be Where is "My American accent", "American Car", "American written Books(simple and fun to read btw), And not to forget "American Movies" LOL.

Saxib, if you didn't know, some somalis have an emotional attachment to this Osmaniya Script while most others haven't heard of it or don't see it to have any significance. For some, It is like a revival of something precious lost in case you haven't figured it out. You will learn "the whys" people write what they write as you come along. You won't be Mr.Novice to Somali Politics Hang On Saxib.
  16. Classique, Should you decide to form a Geek-Squad in SOL, I am your backup, or rather, will be part of that group and a follower to you I am not that committed to books as you obviously are. Woow! such dedication!! Did you ever sit with discussion groups and reviewed some books with others? Or you were speaking in the abstract? Btw, thanks but I don't write eloquently. You are too nice Sis. And you do WRITE perfect english. As for why some consider the bookworms/avid readers to be geeks, I have no idea. May be the bookworms are doing what those who name them names have wished to do but couldn't for some reason. P.S We haven't hijacked this thread so let us carry on Classical-Woman LOL.
  17. Qac Qaac: Xoogsade, no one is saying something is wrong with them, but i doubt if a man would go for them, pass that age, it might be immature but that's how men are.. I don't mind a woman who is Older than me if the age gap is not extreme. If I am attracted to her and she is pretty, wise, nice, down-to-earth, and very much fulfills my ever so humble list of qualifications, I wouldn't make her age an issue. There is some work waiting for her though, routine exercise and that she keeps up with me. We will have to slow the process of aging for her down a bit somewhat I think age matters lately. And in fairness, it is better for Men to keep within reasonable age gap. As for the women, like Bashi said, it is up to them to choose whomever they want agewise. One thing for sure, women are more mature always than men of the same age-group, so a little Older man won't hurt LOL.

  19. King, LoL@Prelegal. Not all men are attracted to younger girls when they(the men) grow up to 25 and beyond. Men have different tastes and views. Qac Qaac, While I understand your point, Marriage is pre-ordained. So no matter the desire to marry early on, or the option of delay a girl makes, she will marry when Allah's permission is given. There are very good girls who are beyond 22 but are still unmarried. Some of them even want to marry but may not have a suitor to their liking. I wouldn't think there is anything wrong with them.
  20. Classique, I admire your unrestrained enthusiasm for books. I picked up the habit of reading as a kid seeing my father's preference and love for books. I can still see in my mind vividly images of him sitting on his bed reading with serenity for hours. I also liked to be told stories, so the natural thing for me was too seek the untiring, ever the willing obidient sources that wouldn't object or give me excuses to not tell a story or two. And only books fit that profile. It is always nice to have a good book at your disposal. I don't have too much time on my hands nowadays to read other than the required text books though I still buy books of interest and keep them in my collection. P.S I wish I could master the Arabic like you do to widen my sources.

  22. I shop for books. I have a variety of books in my collection relating to Astronomy, Religion, Politics, History, And English. If I hear a good book being referenced on the public radio or quoted in an online source, and I like the subject, I go buy it. Mostly educational books. I read novels only at summer time when I am off from school always and even if I buy one not in summer, it sits in my small library in my bedroom untill I get to it. I bought the "Devinci Code" last year and still didn't get a chance to finish it. I also shop for nice clothes. Nothing beats nice clothes.
  23. I have no specific dream job but like Anything technical, jobs that require practical solutions, engineering, design, making things work and putting them in order. I would be cool always with a job like that. As for rewarding profession(depending on how one thinks about the world), I think being a teacher and teaching kids is the best. What is better than shaping the minds of tomorrow? I have tremendous respect for teachers. My current job is perfect, suitable for my schedule and continuing education. Nothing beats being your own boss and getting called when people have problems, take care of them and put a smile on their faces, make the day easy and less troublesome for them
  24. Rayaana, The purpose of the link was to highlight Only the difficulties that exist in Xamar, hence, the adversity and the dipilitation shown in the pictures. On the other hand, there is brilliant progress made in every aspect and localities expanded far and wide with modern houses, business is the best in east africa, and etc. People are optomistic over there regardless.

    W O M E N?

Wiilo-funny, Waw! What you wrote had me smiling for a while during work. Qataraa tahay. You perfectly related what goes on in the minds of those dreamers. Laakiin fiiri, waa yaraa makaa saareyso because gabdhaha markey yar yihiin si fiicaney wax u kala og yihiin unlike boys who are typically oblivious about love and crushes. My loox-mate(dugsiga) who was very pretty girl had a crush on me, but my cousins(the girls) had to explain that to me loool. And embarrassingly, I cried being defensive and all lool. Ka warran hee? Gabdhaha i dhahaayo heblaayo waa ku jeceshay ee la hadal isku facaan eheen laakiin aniga wexey sheegaayaanaaba iga oohisiiyey lool. Such innocent days! How could I know or understand such feelings when all I was worried about was the next football game? Second Gabar Tom-boy oo aan arko aa tahay, and you both are natural killers hadda markaa weynaateen. "Natural killer" in this context meaning "The ability to enthrall/charm and influence the minds of those whom you reach with your talk". With your prowess of kaftan and talk, I guess all you have to do is one time chatt. Meeqaa isku waddaa hadda? Kolley tomboynimadii waa ka baxdaye? How many prospective baariyaal aa leenkaaga ku jiro oo aan iska war qabin? LOL.
