  1. Oba- Based on the criteria you mentioned, it makes every sense for the president to look to the two main Jubbaland clans of that major clan. Like Suldaanka said the president should have a priority and that main priority we all recognize is stabilization and security. If you are fixing a house and the kitchen has been fixed, you don't sit in the kitchen and stay there, rather you move on to the bathroom and bedrooms to tackle. The president's objective is not to stay in the status quo but rather to move forward and provide momentum to change. Your formula is not compatible with the process of conflict resolution and state formation Somalia requires at this time.
  2. Somalia- If you will excuse me adeer, I do not make it a habit to engage chaps such as yourself in this venue. I bid you a good day.
  3. Abtigiis- On September the 12th, I received information directly from the new president's campaign team that suggested, while he was accepting applicants from throughout the greater D-clan for the position of Premier, he had directed his staff to encourage and search out only the Gedo clan applicants. It this was not a signifier from the beginning, I do not know what is. From what I have been told (also from the new president's campaign team), the president's sub-clan wants a PM from Puntland, his party and himself want a PM from Gedo, and the International Community having warmed to the idea of state resurgence in Mogadishu and throughout Somalia shares the President's vision. It is not a fatigue of a clan or anything sinister but real politick. Puntland was organized before the rest and was an oasis where a government without hope and without future could at least claim some nominal influence. This idea is not as forceful for a government with as much hope and future as possible and one which visualizes the stability and security of the entire Republic particularly those in Al-Shabaab territory; a designation Mogadishu itself held until recently. It is more rather a reflection of the changing equations. Previous dormant factors are surfacing; and previous disproportionately outsized factors are giving space in the post-transition. We expect the PM will be from Gedo in accordance with the President's vision and that of his party.
  4. Ilaahay hau naxariisto waxii dhintay, gacan ka xaq daran ayaa dishay. This is another serious moment that shows the menace that lies still and just the work waiting be completed in the attempt to permanently neutralize the Al Shabaab menace.
  5. Che- Yes, it was quite bad. Glad to see swift action taking by moderators. Yunis- Dr Abdiwali Sheikh is definitely a man whose name has reached my ears as well. Ngonge- The president was alluding to the process in the transition (ways of doing things) not the power-sharing formula. The power-sharing formula is a post-conflict necessity until the duration of the provisional government period (the current era of 4 years). What the president was alluding to is the state-less method of doing this and the almost faction like friction between Puntland State and the central government whereby Faroole can dictate to Villa Somalia as its equal. Your question was more rhetorical than realistic.
  6. Che- As cliche as it sounds (considering how used it is in this forum) but my source really is direct from the new President's innermost circle. The president from the beginning settled on the Gedo/Galgaduud/Jubba community and was vetting candidates. He has narrowed down to three and from what I hear has already chosen among them.. The president of Puntland's lack of attendance on inauguration day had to do with a telephone call gone awry on just this issue. He was told (I repeat verbatim) "the era of the transitional governments has ended" I'll leave it to the gallery to imagine just what brought that on and what ensued.
  7. The premier will be from Gedo. It's decided.
  8. Reer Nuur Bidaar are indeed a distinguished lot, but are you mistaking Dr Bashiir Nuur Bidaar with Dr Abdisamed Nuur Bidaar? According to my sources, Dr Bashiir Nuur Bidaar is very much high in the list of potential premier.
  9. Dr Bashir Nuur-Bidaar Hassan Loyan for president. He has my endorsement.
  10. By far the most honest and objective assessment of Somalia's current political situation that I have been privileged to come across recently.
  11. I feel it is my call of duty, born about from a deep desire for the people of Somalia, to do what I can in the attainment of positive change for the Somali Republic. It is a responsibility I owe Somalia. The governance of the Republic must see about a concerted and wholesome change in order to improve the lives of the general populace for the better and bring Somalia back into the fold of the community of nations once again. Dr. Bashiir Nuur Bidaar for President!
  12. The men in that video are from a sub-clan which received two MPs within the clan. Their Ugaas juffo will choose their two representatives in consultation with the Ugaas Guud; both are in Xamar.
  13. Kolay anigu maan arag wax sheegaya inuu kasoo horjeedo ee bal adigu hadaad xog dhab ah haysid waanu kaa war sugi doonaa. Intaa hadaan kusii daro, Ugaaska waxuu ku qasbanyahay inuu codsi kastoo soo gaaro dhagta u furo balse uu la jaanqaado dalabka guud ee ummadiisu u caam ah waxay doontaba ha ahaatee.
  14. Boowe, hadee ummadu waa xor. Ahmed Buule iyo saaxiibadiis haday Gaas taageereen dee ninku waa nin muwaadin ah wayna taageeri karaan ee Ugaaskooda Xamar jooga fariintaas ha gaarsiiyaan.
  15. Abwaan, it seems you and I must somehow find a way to increase our support for Dr Bashir Nur Bidaar in the face of such populism of some candidates, the rumoured warchests of other candidates, and now political confederations being formed.
  16. it is sad how nobody came to him except other IDP kids who drag him out. no help. This comment I find says everything there is to know about this individual. He sits all day in a Nairobi cafe shop and listens to petty gossip while the most creative thing he can possibly do is dehumanize the unfortunate situation of Somalia even more through inappropriate and malicious using of the term "Internally Displaced Person" as a political euphamism to imply something less or not remarkable in the showcase of one's individual right to express their aspirations for their country. I find MMA's response to you in another topic most apt: he calmly addressed your misuse of the "IDP" term and then sought to ignore the rest of your corresponding drivel.
  17. I am speaking directly on the HiiraanOnline summary of the Monitoring Report. It is inconsistent what you and Abwaan have translated from it with regards to Farmaajo. The entire section on Farmaajo, different from all the other sections, could be summarized into "Allegations made by current PM Abdiwali Mohamed Gaas of which the Somalia Monitoring Group could not verify." Ironically enough the allegation was spoken by Abdiwali as he was defending himself from corruption charges. All the others have direct paper trail of which actions by their own individual persons is evidence enough. There is nothing from Farmaajo; no deals, no letters, no evidence at all save what the report itself called "allegations" by the current PM. The report also explicitly says it did not reach Farmaajo for comment and nor was the Central Bank be able to be reached. That's all.
  18. Abwaan- If someone is corrupt surely they will be exposed in time. However, reading the Hiiraan summary I find it inconsistent with the description both you and Somalia gave with regards to Farmaajo. Notice, Farmaajo is the only man not implicated individual, in the sense of his person, with corruption. Farmaajo's administration was accused of "mismanagement" of some money from that donated by UAE and the accuser is none other than Abdiwali Mohamed Gaas. In fact the word "alleges" is used. The summary on Farmaajo also says this allegation is not substantiated by the Somali Central Bank and nor could Farmaajo understand why his former Minister of Finance reported a number other than what his government put into the Somali Central Bank. As of yet, this is not to say Farmaajo is personally cleared of wrongdoing, but this report has only brought the allegation rather than the proof of it as it did with Shareef Hassan, Sheikh Sharif, and Abdiwali who is personally implicated through his own writings and edicts. Let us try to stick to the facts as they are before us now.
  19. Wax magarad baa tahay marka kula yaabi maayo. Dr. Bashiir Nuur Bidaar was a remarkable young man coming from Somalia as an international student who attained a Bachelors, a Masters, and PhD in a program that he believed would allow him to best contribute to Somalia in the area of food security. Following the war, Dr Bashiir attained a second Masters in Business and Information Systems Management that has allowed him to see immense success in professional life, climbing very high in a Fortune 100 company. He is above all an administrator with executive experience managing money and projects worth more than the entire GDP of East Africa. He is not known to be a corrupt man or a man who wastes his time on frivolous activities. He is a hard worker, a family man, a technocrat, someone who exudes professionalism from the very tips of his finger tips. He is a son that makes Somalia proud and the wide admiration Somalis of all creeds and clans have for him is a reflection of this. It adds to his persona that you find him unsuitable as a partner in your coffee shop metrics for support (as you have expressed). The former UN agricultural adviser, the IBM executive, the family man, the patriot, the role model for how Somalis could be, the next president of the Somali Republic (inshallah); Dr Bashir Nur-Bidar Hassan Loyan
  20. Abwan- On what Mooge called studying flowers (not that any educated individual believes there is anything wrong with studying that for scientific purposes), a quick search in the school listed for the MS and PhD degrees listed yielded this find: Loyan, Bashir. 1995. Educational models for community garden programs in the United States and their potential application for sub-Saharan Africa. (Ph.D. Dissertation) Hassan, Bashir. 1990. Horticultural experience increases garden size and economic investment within a community garden program. (M.S. Thesis) http://www.hfrr.ksu.edu/p.aspx?tabid=990 His PhD dissertation of 174 pages on Google Books: Educational Models for Community Garden Programs in the United States and Their Potential Application for Sub-Saharan Africa Bashir Nur Hassan Loyan Kansas State University, 1995 - 174 pages http://books.google.com/books/about/Educational_Models_for_Community_Garden.html?id=ytSUNwAACAAJ
  21. Mooge- Waxaan maqli jiray ceeb looma dhinto. Waa mahad Alle waayo taada ayaan u baqi lahayn. Waan ujeedaa utunaadaada waa mid gaar ah ee waxaa muuqato asaageey baan ka haray inay sal u tahay xasadkaaga. Ilaahay hanaga kaa magangeliyo. "Whenever one finds oneself inclined to bitterness, it is a sign of emotional failure."
  22. Abwaan, dalkuna waa dalkaagi, dadkuna waa dadkaagi. INSHALLAH.
