I remember the nightmare days of early '00s when boqol doolar US qofkii diraayo had to pay $165 Canadian dollars. Maanta jinjin ayaa la yahay. I don't care about the Canadians complaining about everything from manufacturing jobs disappearing because of high export value to Hollywood-made films in Kanada vanishing because of high Canadian dollar. To poor, struggling Soomaalis who qaraabadooda wax ka sugayaan, qaas ahaan bishaan soonka camal, this is beyond good. Waaaaaaaay up to go, loonie. Saudi has unpegged itself from the dollar interest rate drops too, so it is abs news for the dollar, and those holding it. In effect this means that $1 is now worth less than it was worth yesterday, so its buying power has dropped. This is bad news for the xawilaad ants, especially those in the US, because the $50 dollars you used to send is worth $49 - so to maintain face value, the prices for goods in dollars have to rise, but not necessarily your wages. All in all, if the trend continues, expect to be sending more dollars to enable people to maintain the same quality of life, but at best from the same wage
  4. che, in all honesty man, i'm surprised your refusing to acknowledge the wholly ironic and arbitrary nature of actions your supporting. Theere are 2 ironies of your above statements. First, given than you can't look at a person and say "aha its their * that clinches it", a *hypothetical* pursuit of beardies would at least yield less people (incl. my self) and therefore result in a more targeted approach. Hell how is it worse than any other random feature and at least we know that there are less bearded muslims than muslims, so if your gonna victimise a group, you'd a least have more features to distinguish/victimise with. This numbers game just highlights the futility of such random feature action. Second, in this situation, the kind outcome you would be after as a law enforcement force dealing with *potential* crimes and hidden motives requires intelligence. You need knowledge, and preferably insider knowledge. Therefore random screening actions such as racial/cultural screening like this case actually works against you, it turns those that would be most helpful to you, against you, because you have criminalised and victimised them arbitrarily. So in terms of logistics and effectiveness, your on to a loosing strategy. On the other hand your right about the politics, such screening is all about politics, personal, media and social, people showing their prejudices, media hyping it and politicians playing on peoples prejudices by encouraging it. As anyone that has been on the receiving end of either being stopped 'cos they looked too black for the area you were walking though, or, because their faith is on the current bash list now, it is at the very least humiliating and degrading. SO by any measure of justice, Khayr has a lot to be angry over.
  5. ooh lordh! are you suggesting that you either grow a tash or have mutual hachu fits with each other?

It stands within reason to assume that they are sympathetic to their country of origin. Of course, mistakes would made, and innocent people will get burned in the process, but that's an acceptable casualty. Ok, lets go with your reasoning for a moment, the glaring question what factor would you profile on? Lets take it one step further. Since, america wasn't attacked by a nation but a bunch of people claiming to be muslims, and muslims are from a diverse set of backgrounds, we'll take their common denominator -i.e. being a muslim as the classifying feature. Now you have somewhere between 2-7 million muslims in the US ofgodbless A, take the average, and we come to 4.5Million suspects. lets take it down further, and say since it was young men that carried out the attack, we'll profile young muslim men. and since young muslim men make up most of the muslim population there, lets take a conservative 35%, and u come to 525,000 *suspects*. Since no one wears a badge on their forehead claiming their intent, and a stereotype is about snap judgement on some feature, not evidence, lets assume evil muslims have beards, say 10% of this young male population are evil beardies (a'la moi), then your have 52,500 suspects. Now, after the cold war, the us army shrank to about 1/2 Million, so you now have approximately many suspects as soldiers - do you think you could pitch one on one guarding of young muslims, or they could dedicate 10% of their number guarding beardie young muslims - the "casualties", or do you see the flaw in your argument? ng have you been taking advice from val again?!
  8. Originally posted by -: Your color and faith had nothing to do it. And what's wrong with profiling anyway? Its generalised, arbitrary, and works on a least common denominator factor, not evidence, so as norf said, what right with it Khayr i have the same problem frequently, especially when flying- for the past year and a bit, I've grown a beard as a protest when ever i'm flying and strangely enough, it seems to have had the opposite effect to my assumptions, and has led to a fewer stops!
  9. interesting article, as much as american foreign policy is a $hit hive, you've got to admire the peoples dynamism, rose tinted optimism and their enthusiasm to engage. anyhow, i'm continually surprised by their contradictions

  12. ooh the irony, source Couple divorce after online 'affair' A Bosnian couple are getting divorced after finding out they had been secretly chatting each other up online under fake names. Sana Klaric, 27, and husband Adnan, 32, from Zenica, poured out their hearts to each other over their marriage troubles, and both felt they had found their real soul mate. The couple met on an online chat forum while he was at work and she in an internet cafe, and started chatting under the names Sweetie and Prince of Joy. They eventually decided to meet up - but there was no happy ending when they realised what had happened. Now they are both filing for divorce - with each accusing the other of being unfaithful. Sana said: "I thought I had found the love of my life. The way this Prince of Joy spoke to me, the things he wrote, the tenderness in every expression was something I had never had in my marriage. "It was amazing, we seemed to be stuck in the same kind of miserable marriages - and how right that turned out to be. "We arranged to meet outside a shop and both of us would be carrying a single rose so we would know the other. "When I saw my husband there with the rose and it dawned on me what had happened I was shattered. I felt so betrayed. I was so angry." Adnan said: "I was so happy to have found a woman who finally understood me. Then it turned out that I hadn't found anyone new at all. "To be honest I still find it hard to believe that the person, Sweetie, who wrote such wonderful things to me on the internet, is actually the same woman I married and who has not said a nice word to me for years."

Ms DoubleD, I think your on to something there, we should get moving quickly to commercialise it - could be a new web-project for a newly unshackled lady ... but i have to say, the chest hair thing wont be giving your faarax brothers a fair chance, after all, we're not known for our chest carpets
  15. Lilly, surely your not ignorant of movember - a month of moustaches and charity. In the name of charity and celebration of manly hair, our department is planning a moustache troupe, so in return for sponsorship, I might be convinced to stay off the streets for you

  18. Since so many people are interested in learning to write C, I found this fantastic tutorial. This ELF Virus Writing HOWTO, which a fantastic in depth howto. ELF (executable link format) is the file format for executables on system V (unix) derived system, this included OS-X and Linux. This tut. is suitable for someone with an intermediate knowledge of C, so if your familiar with C and want learn how to actually use it, it fantastic. Don't think of a something malicious and don't worry, if you follow the tutorial, you'll prollly create some nastiness on your computer, but more importantly you'll learn enough to be able to control it. Anyhow I cant get over how much of a good tutorial it is, in depth, it teaches you a lot of the lower-level detail on operating systems, memory management, driver writing/details, perl and some shell scripting and lets not forget C. All the kinda stuff that will have your prospective employers jaws on the floor and your hacking skillz smokin anyhow, enjoy, and use it to learn
