  1. For the sake of this blessed month, I would like to forward one simple suggestion to Shyham, wildcat, and others who might have an axe to grind. "Please burry the hatchets". I hope these post gets to the wall before any negative response. I also hope all the parties concerned to understand the importance of forgiving each other and moving on. I am not a moderator or someone who can force you into anything. It is only a brotherly suggestion. Ramadaan Mubarak!

  3. I would like to propose "A Mighty Collision of Two Worlds" as the first book to be discussed on this noble club. This are the reasons: 1. It is very well written ... great entertainment and enlightenment 2. It has many subjects relevent to us and worth discussing 3. It is been written by one of us (A Nomad) who is very talented 4. The story is capturing as you might be able to relate in many of the situations/plots 5. I can honestly say Safi Abdi is a world class author, and once you give her the chance, I am positive she will take you to places you never been and introduce you to familiar and not so familiar characters. I started last night, and I am allready at chapter 6. Very juicy 6. It is very accessable. You can buy it from book store, or online, even in electronic format. I hope everyone agrees on this one. Where are you guys? Rock's Chick are you reading commandante Ramadan Kariim

  5. To have business in many parts of Somalia you have to incorporate with business or individuals that are tribally connected to the area. It could be Bay, Kismayo, Bosaso or Hargaisa for that matter. This has its advantages as many of the companies in Somalia expanded in size and profit. Reality is, no one in Somalia is free to trade or invest freely! Cheers!
  6. OG_Moti, They say picture is worth 1000 words Mr. President try to copy the image path into your address bar to see. Don't click the link Here are the files: 1. It is up to the community to get together and find viable solutions. Cheers

Barwaaqo I do not live in the UK and can not comment specificly about the situation there but I do agree with the suggestion of sister Soul_Lady 100%. Subsidy housings may safe you few bucks at the moment, but these places are full of bad influences for the children such as drugs, prostitutions, gangs, teen pregnancy and what have you! I will also add to that, it is necessary for our own survival everyone to get involved in the matters of our communities and our own developement. After school programs such as tutoring, sports, and even religious studies (dugsi quraan) are proven ways to inspire kids to do the right things, while giving them a head start in real life. I do understand the anger we might feel in such tragedies as this, but arming ourselves and forming gangs to protect ourselves, as some of you suggested, will only create more problems. Secondly, imho, we should model ourselves after communities that are sucessful and use their formulas. We should ask ourselves what this communities did to preserve their language, religion, culture, values, and family integrity in diaspora? We can learn a whole lot from the Jews, Greek, and Italians if we want to work for it. I am very proud of the good samaritan hero who got off the bus to help out his countryman in need. I wish both of them a quick recovery... Cheers.
  9. I HATE THIS ICON ====> In real life it is called "huruf" and is not a pretty sight to look at. I do not know if it is only me or if others feel the same, but those rolling eyes make the poster look immature, and it becomes dificult for me to take them serious. Some of you even use it as a decoration. What's up with that? PHEW! I needed that! Thanx Cutie Cheers!
  10. LST... bro this is how the 'right wing' treat us when they get our votes ... btw yan you imagine there used to be a somali guy writing that kind of commentary for the post or another one of those crappy right wing papers. Yesterday I read in the papers where the republican candidate in MN said that he was in tears when he heard how Somalis are marginalised in the system! That must be the biggest Balogni (sp? as judge Judy would say) I ever heard from a politician. The only way to get back at them is to show them this country is made of immigrants and give our votes to the left and be as far left as we can be. Here is how we might break down 1. In the USA we should vote for the democrats 2. In Canada we should vote for the NDP or Liberals 3. In the UK Labour ... I guess even thought I don't follow their politics maybe others will enlighten us how they do in Europe. And why not get one of us running for an office? It could happen cheers!
