Hmm good one devil! This took me a little bit; a quarter (which is not a nickel) and a nickel :-D Heres a good one! QUESTION: a Doctor says to A lawyer We were born on the same year, month, day, and minute. We were born in the same hospital, hospital room and we have the same 2 parents. We are not twins and we have no brothers. Explain this.
  5. Someone should post the link to the petition to the general discussion; so more people can see the list.
  6. None of those problems are specific to Somaliland; its prevalent through out all of Soamlia. As if someone from Hargeisa is really any different from someone in Kismayo  ...I mean really, they all drink shaaah in the morning and eat baaris in the evening with bananas no less!
  7. I'd say the fact that we are survivors, and our strong family ties
  8. Yeah, I dont think they went about this at all in the right way...animals aren't even allowed to be killed in such a manner, much less a human being. But just to pose a question, for the sake of discussion. Someone might have actually already posed this actually. Do you think implementing a court like this in some way does a service to people in Mogadishu? Because people now know that anyone who commits crimes will be held accountable for their actions, and will not be allowed to roam the streets with the rest of society? I mean this, only if it were to be implemented to everyone, and not just against uprotected minorities...or as a weapon for people with power.... What are your thoughts?
  9. Wo... I was really freaked out by that untill I read wha Zafir said.
  10. To get aid from the U.S and Europe; all you need to do is claim your fighting terror . I am also really FREAKED out by the idea of the U.S getting involved in Somali politics in anyway. They dont have a record of doing anything without another motive.
  11. Yeah I'm not sure how the claiming of arabic lineage works; Blessed, your hypothesis makes sense though. But I understand where chocolato's coming from. There is a lot of looking for and claiming arab lineage with some Somali people. As to why that be appealing? I really dunno.
  12. Akhas, he definately has is own issues and beliefs against women in general, and unfortunately is intrepreting the hadith and Quran to suit and support his own beliefs and twisted logic.
  13. Yeahh I don't think I could really talk about sex with anyone really especially the opposite sex..ditto what scarlet said, I really do think its more modesty then bravado. But umm yeah carry away!
  14. No, I don't think its stress at all. Any guessers?
  15. Really sad isn't it. Another generation of children world-wide growing up in such dire conditions. On a brighter note though, I think I read somewhere that psychology is one of the most selected majors for university/college age chechens. Understandably so huh.
  16. Yeahh...lol true say. I was just disagreeing with the logic that if your clan father or whatever is from arab decent you would be inclined to have a more positive opinion of arabs. Not really your observation. I will add that often the same arabs superiority complex that some arab people have is really the same thing as a lot somali people and their opinion of other africans/black. Kinda sick really.
  17. What I have notice is that most Somalis who say they hate/dislike Arabs, or talk negatively of them all the time are from the clans that haven't descendent from an Arab father. I would have to empathically DISAGREE...I do not see how what my great grandfather (to the hundreth power)was could influence my opinions of arabs whether positive or negative. The people I interact with shape that opinon.
  18. I picked it because I lyke it...I don't know what Naaima means though. Does anyone here know?
  19. We will pray for you and Inshallah you will do fine. I know how you feel though, Im the type to get real worked up and stressed; just have faith and put things in perspective at the end of the day your in a position that many people would kill for. Good luck with everything!
  20. You just gotta love them euphemisms. Madam yet-to-be-named was a stripper. Her job description is unprintable here on SOL. Now, I don't know much about the stripper business, but I do know a thing or two about occupational hazards. If one decides to embark on a career as a sensual gratifier, rape and STDs come with the territory. The norm rather than the exception. Wow that is umm disgusting. No one will disagree that her job as an "exotic dancer" puts her in many dangerous situations, but to say that rape comes along with the job description leaves me speechless. It was a terrible crime against her, and no matter what her job was it should not have been commited and should not be expected. I also couldn't agree more with kalaf's analogy. What you are saying, is taking away responsiblity from the perpertrators whom I do believe should be castrated as well! Fi'amanillah
  21. 41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding, someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out. I shy away from attention, but the rest sounds right to me I lovve these kind of personality tests!!!!
  22. 1. Arabic 2. Indian (yeah..2 billion indians; im sure its worth learning) And finally 3. Spanish: fastest growing ethnic group in the U.S! My Question: Three books you LOVED reading
  23. ::waves hands:: there is actually a good number of people here who are pre-med/health care, the student section isn't as popular as the others tho.
  24. Allhamduillah, reading that really puts things into perspective. Thanks ibtisam
