  1. ^^^ another Chelsea fan. There's two of ya now . well at least there's more of ya'all than there are ajax fans on this forum.
  2. Here too, Liibaan. They display 34.7 instead of 134.7. Others leave it blank yet others decided to buy bigger displays. Some bought bigger displays about 4 months ago as if they knew that the prices would go up so high.
  3. These are my 5. add your own. 5. The Wigan Athletic jersey 4. The attitude of Jose Mourinho 3. The tactical game styles of Chelsea & Man Utd 2. Anfield (those red fans are loud, what are they on?) 1. How the big three teams destroy the bottom ones
  4. Will Chelsea win the league this year since they DON'T have the same sponsor as the refs. ^^^ seriously now, i think Man U will win the premiership this time around.
  5. Don't mean to get off topic here or anything like that but this is funny. Here in Canada most gas stations don't have a way to display 100 cents on their price display. Since gas prices are now over 100cents/ litter, most of them leave it blank. Others have bought displays with 5 character instead of 4.
  6. Kanye is wrong about Dubya. Dubya ain't racist he's just a big time naccas who doesn't know when to cut his vacation short. I have never seen a more irresponsible president than him! However, the people with brains around him are difinitely racist. Kanye is of course right about the American media. We blacks are getting a trashy media cover just like we've been getting as Muslims all these years.
  7. The official 2006 CL thread add your comments. Will there be another surprise package from one of the poor leagues in terms of income (PSV this year, FC Porto in 2004). Is it possible for Chelsea to make it all the way. What about Barcelona, Milan, Inter, Man U, Real, Juve, Bayern, Lyon? CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FACTS: see the last one! -Francisco Gento is the only player to be on 6 champions Cup-winning sides. -Clarence Seedorf is the only player to win the Champions Cup with 3 different teams: Ajax Amsterdam 1995 Real Madrid 1998 A.C. Milan 2003 -The city of Milan, Italy, is the only one that won the Champions Cup with two different teams: Inter & Milan (the two clubs won 8 cups in total). -Many clubs won the Cup unbeaten: Inter Milan (1964) and Ajax Amsterdam (1972) are those with the best record, 7 wins and 2 draws. -Real Madrid have the record number of consecutive participations in the Champions' Cup with 15, from 1955/56 to 1969/70. -Only on two occasions has the Final of the Champions Cup/League involved two teams from the same country: Real Madrid v Valencia (1999/00) and A.C. Milan v Juventus (2002/03). -In the long history of the cup, only four derbies between teams of the same city have been played: 1958/59 Real Madrid vs Atlético de Madrid (semifinal) 2002/03 Internazionale (Milan) vs A.C. Milan (semifinal) 2003/04 Chelsea vs Arsenal (quarterfinal) 2004/05 Internazionale vs A.C. Milan (quarterfinal) - 2nd leg was abandoned because of disturbances among the Inter fans. -Manchester United, Celtic, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax Amsterdam are the only teams to complete a "treble"—win their domestic league championship, their domestic cup, and the Champions League/European Cup. Man United did so during the 1998/99 season. Celtic managed this in 1966/67, also winning the Scottish League Cup and Glasgow Cup that year. In 1972 Ajax won the European Cup, their domestic league and cup. The following season they also won the European Super Cup and the European/South American Cup. PSV did this in 1987/88, while Liverpool won the European Cup, the league title and the League Cup in 1980/81. Ajax Amsterdam was unbeaten in the Champions Cup/League for 20 matches from 1985/86 to March 1996. -The 2002/03 semifinal between bitter city rivals A.C. Milan and Internazionale was the first time both games of a two-legged tie were in the same stadium (San Siro). This matchup was repeated in the 2004/05 quarterfinals. -Only two individuals have won the Champions League with the same club as a player then later as a coach. Miguel Muñoz of Real Madrid did it as a player in 1955/56 and 1956/57, before winning it as a coach in 1965/66. Carlo Ancelotti did it as an A.C. Milan player in 1988/89 and 1989/90 before coaching them to victory in 2002/03. -Cesare Maldini and his son Paolo are the only father and son duo to skipper the same club to victory in the competition. Cesare led A.C. Milan to victory in 1962/63, and Paolo captained them to victory in 2002/03. -The anthem of the Champions League, which is played during prematch ceremonies before each match and introduces television coverage of the competition, is by Tony Britten, based on George Frideric Handel's coronation anthem "Zadok the Priest", and is performed by the Chorus of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. -Ottmar Hitzfeld and Ernst Happel are the only coaches in the history of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League to win the title with two different clubs. Hitzfeld did so with Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and Bayern Munich in 2001; Happel led Feijenoord (now Feyenoord) in 1970 and Hamburg in 1983. -Olympique de Marseille were the first winners of the new format UEFA Champions League in 1993. -Manchester United's treble-winners of 1998/99 were the first winners of the tournament to have won neither their domestic title nor the European Cup/Champions League the previous season. In 1997/98, United finished runners-up in the Premiership to Arsenal and lost in the quarterfinals of the Champions League to Monaco. -Nottingham Forest are the only club to have won the European Cup more times (twice) than they have won their domestic league (once). Forest won the English League in 1978 before winning the European Cup in 1979 and defending it in 1980. Forest also have the unfortunate distinction of being the only winners of the European Cup to have later been relegated out of the top two leagues in their country. -Paolo Maldini of Milan scored the fastest ever goal in Champions League in 2005 final against Liverpool inside 53 seconds. He was also the oldest (37 year old) to score in Champions League final. -All 11 goals, including the penalty shoot-out, were scored in the same goal in 2005's final between AC Milan and Liverpool. more ... http://www.answers.com/topic/uefa-champions-league Stade de France, Paris (2006 CL Final Venue)
  8. Arsenal will play ajax again as usual this summer in the Amsterdam Tournament. This is a 'friendly' tournament if such a thing exists. I'm excited to see how ajax will perform against these three top teams (FC Porto, Boca Juniors, & Arsenal), after disapointing me so far in all the friendly games. Arminia Bielefeld - Ajax 0-4 (Bundesliga) Fortuna Sittard - Ajax 2-3 (Dutch 2nd div) Rijnsburg Boys - Ajax 0-12 (Dutch Top Class A, Sunday) HHC - Ajax 4-5 (Dutch Top Class A, Sunday) Quick '20 - Ajax 0-4 (Dutch Top Class C, Sunday) WHC - Ajax 3-4 (Dutch Top Class C, Saturday) DWV - Ajax 0-7 (Dutch Top Class C, Saturday)
  9. Arsenal is interested in Edgar Davids I heard. I think this is a really good replacement. Edgar is better than Viera.

That was a good game 7. I really tought Detroit had it in the third period but that damn Duncan had other plans. I just felt sorry for all those school kids singing Detroit Bas-ketball all afternoon!

    Confeds Cup!

Cricket I tried playing that game but wasn't too good at it Bob, I totally agree the Germans didn't deserve that penalty but I guess the ref felt guilty since the penalty he gave to Brasil two minutes earlier wasn't really a penalty either (ADRIANO wasn't going to get anywhere even if he wasn't pushed -- he had already lost his balance before and was loosing control of the ball anyways.) I didn't catch the mexico-argentina game but the final will be something to look forward to. I am with Brasil but Argentina can also take it. Brasil and Argentina are also paired up in the World Youth Championship semis, the winner of that game will play an African team, either Morocco or Nigeria. What hapenned to Maxi Lopez. He is not in neither of Argentina's squads? Not the junior or the senior team. Viking, I know where you are coming from. I too would like to see Ronaldinho get more space since he is such a talented player but I don't think the answer lies in removing Kaka or Robinho. Rather, I think Ronaldinho needs to chill out and let them do their job. I know he is the play-maker of the team but he shouldn't be at the wings dragging two defenders with him. Rather, he should seek to play more of a centered role. The way he is playing is just like he plays for Barca. Well, this isn't the LPF, Ronaldinho. This competition is twice as tough.
  12. YOU ARE DEFINATELY ON CRACK!

    Confeds Cup!

anybody following the confederations matches. Argentina is tight ... watch out brazil. Tunisia played good too by the way. Where's Maxi Lopes of Barcelona. Isn't he in the Argentine squad?
  14. 1-Alex Ferguson is the most successful manager in England, does that make him the greatest manager ever in English football? If he is the most successful. yes, that would make him the greatest. However, he has access to more assets than other coaches. 2-Real Madrid got some of the best players that ever played the game, does that mean automatically they are the best team in the world (even though they haven't won anything for how long? Past three seasons?). On paper it does make Real the best team in the world but the fact that they haven't won anything in three years speaks for itself. The problem must be that they have assembled the best players in the world. Players who have had a lot of success and don't have much to prove. It's better to get someone hungry for success than someone who has had it all! 3-Juventus won more Serie A titles than AC and Inter Milan put together but AC Milan won more European cups than both of them put together and its also AC Milan who command more respect than Juve, so who deserves to be crowned as the Kings of Italy (mind you, both Milan teams and many more in Serie A think Juve has the backing of the Italian Football Federation…and its tempting to agree with them) Milan are the kings of Italy. They have more supporters than Juventus. Even in Turin Juventus doesn't have many supporters. The locals tend to be Turino fans. Juventus' supporters are in the South of Italy. Besides the Champions league is harder to win than the scudetti. 4-Liverpool won more trophies than Man Utd and Arsenal and yet they are the second fiddle to these two teams both inside and outside of England, shouldn't the world give credit where its due? Most of Liverpool's success is in the past. This is a good thing for the pride of the club, its fans, and its city. However, people have short memories. People want to what Liverpool wins today, not yesterday. 5-Barcelona consider themselves to be the world's premier football club as they have the biggest stadium in the world and have more supporters than any other team in Spain and some of the greatest players ever played for Barca yet they only won 1 European cup and 17 championship while Real Madrid won 9 European cups and 29 (is it?) Championships so who is fooling who here? With that stadium, they can claim anything they like 9-Between Serie A and La Liga (sorry Premier League) which league do you think is the world's best? It really depends on how you look at it. Looking at this seasons ending results, it seems that Seri A is better. In Spain it seems there is a bigger gap between the top half and the bottom half of the table; In Italy there isn't such a big gap. For example, AC Parma nearly got relegated, however they made it all the way to the UEFA Cup semi-finals with the reserve team. Also in Italy you barely see teams losing by more than 3 goals; in Spain it is a different story. Looking at it a different way. In Italy , like the Eredivisie, the Championship is won by the same teams over and over again: Juventus & Milan. In Spain it seems to be more fair. The last couple of rounds have proven that. 10-When will we ever see a Somali player strutting his stuff on the world’s biggest stage, right now playing for Somalia seems a distant and very ambitious dream so which country is the odds on to produce the world’s first Somali superstar? As soon as there is peace in Somalia.

Detroit is going to bring it home again baby!.... YEAH. Seriously does anybody think Detroit can pull this off in game 7?
  16. Congrats to all you Reds fans. It really sucks that Liverpool won't be able to defend the title. However, this is Liverpools #5 trophy and you got to keep it!
  17. There's a rumor that Real Madrid is willing to pay Juventus US$88m for Zlatan. Juventus got Zlatan for US$7m from Ajax last summer.
  18. Any guesses before kick-off tomorrow? I haven't seen Liverpool or Milan play since their last CL matches but I still think Liverpool will pull it off. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had a lot to say about this match, "Personally, I fancy Liverpool because I feel Milan look jaded physically and certainly mentally by losing the championship,'' the Arsenal manager told reporters in London after his club's FA Cup victory over Manchester United. I think they have never had a better chance of beating Milan than now." What do you all think?
  19. Bob, i'm a believer as well. I think Liverpool will beat Milan. The secret is out now. PSV has shown how it is done. Just a simple fast-paced English game will do. Just be care-full on the counter.
  20. Wow, ten cups between them. I am getting the feeling this is going to be the best CL final ever. Will it Milan for their 3rd CL title within ten years or will it be Liverpool after 24 years since they last lifted this cup. Here's the winners list: Real Madrid (9 titles) Milan (6 titles) Liverpool, Bayern Munchen, Ajax (4 titles) Juventus, Inter, Nottingham Forest, Man U, Benfica, Porto (2 titles) Barcelona, Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, Celtic, Olympique Marseille, Steaua Bucarest, Crvena Zvezda (1 title)

    Stinkin' Rich

Bob, For sure, a new bigger stadium goes a long way in cash flow for club. When will it be ready? As for Barca, i think they should get a shirt sponsor. I am not sure why the fans would be against it. Nowadays, the jerseys of clubs are recognized by the commercial on the front of the shirt. Besides, the asian money is good. PS Barca considers shirt sponsor
  22. It seems like Juventus are getting closer and closer to getting that 3rd star on their jerseys. Yes, they will only need 2 more scudettis if they win this years to bring their total to 30. Very impressive. but who cares about the scudetti when Milan is chasing its 7th CL title.
  23. After seeing Liverpool play the friendly against Porto at the skydome last summer i said: Liverpool is the team to watch! Truly a horse race this time I must say it: i was right. I admit though luck was on their side because the blue team looked better than them most of the time.

Here's a list of the 20 richest soccer clubs. Last years ranking is in brackets. Notice how Chelsea jumped 6 spots. Chelsea will probaly jump to 1st spot next season with the Samsung Mobile shirt sponsorship deal. Barcelona has jumped a great deal as well. Imagine what spot they would be at if they had a shirt sponsor. 1. Man U $350 (1) 2. Real $320 (4) 3. Milan $290 (3) 4. Chelsea $287 (10) 5. Juve $284 (2) 6. Arsenal $230 (7) 7. Barca $220 (13) 8. Schalke $131 (14) 18. Marseille $117 19. Rangers $114 20. Aston Villa $112
