^^^Adeer in business one must take risk and Talaal has made money, if we are to follow your argument then none of the top 10 US banks have any real business men and that no one knows business. Many brand names have gone bust, from Wachovia to Lehmann brothers, and they were all staffed by real businessmen who all had MBA's and degrees from Ivy League universities. Thus let Mr Talaal enjoy his money, he made it after all.

General Duke replied to Juje's topic in Politics
Malika My interest lies in a stable and functioning Somalia and this man seems to have pushed that back a few years. I am disappointed in his actions thus far and his failure is no interest of mine and neither is his success. -

Gaddafi and his date with 700 Italian women So many questions. How did Silvio Berlusconi and Colonel Gaddafi become friends in the first place? Even more pressingly, how did Muammar Gaddafi - expeller of Libyan Italians, aggressive-wearer of sandals, unelected thug, deployer of hit squads, scourge of civil rights - how did this man come to refashion himself as a great friend to the females of Europe? The highlight of Gaddafi's trip to Rome is a meeting, personally requested by the Libyan leader, with 700 women from the worlds of "politics, industry and culture". So Berlusconi got down his Bumper Catalogue of Hot Stuff, got rid of any that were over 25, discarded those with a loud voice or body hair, and whittled down the rest by ballot until he got to 1,000, whereupon the disappointed remainder that didn't get to meet Muammar were given a senior post in his cabinet or a mini-break in his fancy villa with the pools and the elephants. Before we start thinking this is just a pact of weirdness between two profoundly weird men, it is not the first time Gaddafi has extended the hand of friendship to the ladies of Europa (I do not mean the convenience store chain; I am romanticising the continent, trying to get into the mind of the mighty dictator). Two years ago in Paris, he met 1,000 French women. His message was clear: he wanted to "save European women". There is a question mark over his credentials in this area: he points to the proportion of women in the Libyan workforce, which has gone from 6% to 20% in 40 years. Those stats have been bolstered, though, by Gaddafi's stringently equal ops hiring policy with bodyguards: his entourage includes 40 female heavies. His cred is undercut further by an astonishingly poor human rights record that sees women in Libya locked up in "social rehabilitation centres" for crimes such as "being raped", "being orphaned" and "being poor". Perhaps he plans to save us western ladies from due process and the rule of law? God knows, those things are incredibly boring. A final question: when does Berlusconi officially tip over into "laughing stock"?

UN says War Crimes Committed Daily : No demonstrations ?
General Duke replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
What happened to all the demos in the west led by the ever vocal “Mogadishu society”? What happened to the religious leaders and Mosques who used to raise money for the “Mujahididn” in defense of the faith? Are the 100,000 who fled the city over the last few weeks not Somali”, not as valuable as those over the last few years? Is the fighting and fighters now more holier now? The Duke never took you seriously and now this is proof that all those who emotionally ran around the world in the single aim of preventing the restoration of the state did not care about the peoples suffering. They in fact were adding to this suffering by sustaining the likes of Xasan Dahir and hiding the real criminals under the clan robe. -
UN says War Crimes Committed Daily in Somalia Fighting 10 Jun 10, 2009 - 8:53:59 PM As an international meeting on Somalia gets under way in Rome, U.N. agencies say that war crimes and crimes against humanity are being committed on a daily basis in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. For the past month, Islamist insurgents have been battling pro-government forces in the heaviest fighting the capital has seen in years. According to the U.N. children's and refugee agencies, all sides in the fighting have flaunted humanitarian principles by ignoring the safety of civilians. Fighters have shelled civilian areas, forcibly recruited children to join militias, and raped women. The U.N. refugee agency says 117,000 civilians have been displaced since early May, when the latest round of clashes began. UNICEF's acting representative for Somalia, Hannan Suleiman, says this is the most concentrated displacement of civilians the city has seen in years. "It is certainly the highest we have seen in Somalia for many, many years,"Suleiman said. "We have not seen this number of people in such a short period of time being displaced." The latest fighting pits Islamist insurgents from the al-Shabab and Hizbul Islam militias against government soldiers and pro-government militias. Insurgents have also targeted the roughly 4,000 African Union peacekeepers from Uganda and Burundi who are deployed in Mogadishu. More than 200 people have been killed in the past month, according to most estimates. Suleiman says women and children have been particularly affected by the conflict. She says there are reports that boys as young as nine-years old have been recruited to join militias. "And they are being used on the front line,"Suleiman said. "This is in direct contravention of the child-rights convention, and with the laws governing combat, which state that the use of children under 15 years old in combat is a war crime with legal consequences. And we do have reports that children under 15 are being recruited by all sides in the conflict." UNICEF says at least 34 schools in the city have been occupied by fighters at some point since the start of the year, and many families have been separated. There are reports of rape and other sexual violence against women who have been displaced. The insurgents are seeking to overthrow the fragile internationally-back ed government led by President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. President Ahmed is a moderate Islamist and a former insurgent leader, but his opponents say he is not committed to Islam and is too close to the United States and Ethiopia. The government, as well as international diplomats, have accused Eritrea of backing the insurgents. An international meeting to discuss the conflict is underway in Rome. The two-day meeting features representatives from more than 35 countries and international organizations. The meeting will discuss the security situation, as well as the problem of piracy off the coast. Source: VOA

ABWAN: Why are you all hot, bothered and upset, your waffle and ignorance are breathtaking. In one instance you say you have been to “all over Somalia” yet you state in the same breath that you have never been to Hobyo one of the largest dwellings in your birth regions? That makes little sense or are you now like looter extraordinaire Ahmed Diriye pretending to have been born in Mogadishu? Obviously you were born after 1993 right. -
Sayid: Kindly seek help you are talking to yourself. PS dont try to ruin the thread.
