  2. Sky Here is my rationale: One (privileged and educated on the back of the working masses and on the taxes collected from a poor sweating mother, selling tomotoes under the heat of a scorching African sun) looted and embezzled by the pen, - now the privileged con-artist wants his "Booli-Qaran" back!! the other (underprivileged ******** from rural areas) looted by by the gun, the only skill he knew. will he gave the struggle up? even though, he lost all his herd in famine and have seen all his family starve to death? it is a possibility, if you guarantee wells dug in his inhospitable land. We all know that both the privileged charlatan and the rebellious nomad hail from the same regions. So who is to blame here? and who has my sympathy? As for killings and rape allegations, it has been committed by all. No one is immune here whether they be Siad Bare’ remnants, the red barrettes, the opposing factions and those corrupt elites who started the whole fire! A rapist cannot accuse the raped of rape at all!
  3. Xiin! As long as you calling some Somalis “Savage aliens" and singling out the ones from Central Somalia, you are just another disillusioned and embittered pretender, thus your whole emphasis on land and property doesn't even make any sense no more. I am sure you are one of those provincial slothful con-artists who loiter in coffee houses and reminsce "good old days ". I have seen many who boast of being past owners of mythical and luxurious mansions in Xamar Cadde! As for the "deputy Mayor", all we could say is he was one of the deceitful leeches who had misused and misappropriated national assets for their personal gain. This is disgraceful tactic that the greedy corrupt elites use to get back to their privileged status in order to have another chance to embezzle and defraud more. The "deputy" should have worked hard to develop the rural areas instead of living lavishly in the comforts of his villa! Good riddance! I have no sympathy for such hypocrite To me, the liberator from rural central regions is symbolic of one of those impoverished and oppressed folks, neglected and maltreated by deputy’s ilk. They are just reclaiming their rights! As in Ebonics parlance, don’t hate the player! He definitely shot no deputy but the Sheriff. Hate the game of nepotism, corruption and underdevelopment.

  6. well, this is great. dadku wuu dagaalaa, haddana hishiiyaa. ever heard the somali adage " Xamar waa barbar ka islaan sidii baati " there have emerged two distinct "Xamar". One is very flourishing and is accommodating to every one regardless of their clan affiliation. The other Xamar is exclusive to small number of standoffish faction and is isolated from the rest of the city. Hopefully, it will be overrun soon by the optimistic and enthusiastic forces of change with trade and commerce and will open up to others, thus making Xamar what it used to be: a broad-based city for all Somalis. Things are not what they seem to be.

  8. Abbas-keey! It looks like that Yeey doesn’t understand some basic conventions that a statesman must follow and abide by after he is elected/selected to sit in the chair of the presidency of a nation. When you are president you are not allowed to speak and proceed haphazardly and you cannot appropriate the national influence, leadership and wealth of the country with impunity. You are no more a clan chief but a president, so act like a president! and be above of petty clan squabble, be diplomatic and have a conciliatory tone..
  9. 2004 AllAfrica, Inc. Africa News LENGTH: 448 words HEADLINE: Somalia; Two Years After The Assassination of Sultan Hurre in Puntland State of Somalia BYLINE: Somali Peace Rally BODY: Today two years ago, on February 17, 2004, the great Sultan of Puntland,Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Hurre was gunned down by the special body guards of Col. Abdullahi Yusuf, the brutal dictator of Puntland. It is widely believed that the Sultan was assassinated because of his political views. It is common knowledge to all the people of Puntland, most of the Somalis and the international community involved in Somali affairs that Col. Abdullahi sent the assassins who gunned down the Sultan point blank. Co. Yousuf was few kilometres away from the site of the heinous crime the Kalabayr village. The death of many people, of which Sultan Hurre and Col. Farah-Dheere were the most known, has simply passed as non event in Puntland. No finger was lifted to investigate simply because the killer was the boss. This is Col. Abdullahi's justice trade mark. Similar travesties in justice took place in Gaalkacyo when murderers in a jail were let go by force and in Buurtinle when Abdulllahi ordered the release of criminal who had committed murder in a mosque, of all places. This is Abdullahi justice trade mark - people are not equal and some can get away with a broad-day light assassination. Alas, Siyad Barre would be a saint in this regard. Sultan Hurre's death is not simply going away as Col Abdullahi and his cohorts dream. It is an issue that all Sultan Hurre's acquaintances, those who did not know him but shocked by the killing, and the human rights activists will keep pressing until justice sees the light of the day and his assassins are brought before court. SPR is welcoming the court procedure against the defendant (Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed) in UK. It is a tangible success that finally the Colonel came to realize that he can not hob-nob the world with blood on his hands. London, the Sultan's hometown, has fulfilled an obligation. SPR is asking the international community that Suldan Hurre's assassination should go to the crimes against humanity court as a test case for the Horn of Africa. We have warned the Somalis that we should not have a short memory. We should not support or accept someone who is fixed on ruling with the barrel of the gun and brutal force. That is what brought us here. Elimination of intellectuals, respected officers, religious personalities is where the down fall of Somalia had started. Sultan Hurre, a high profile Issim in Puntland and Somalia at large, and the rest of those who were killed for political reasons, deserve a support from us we Somalis. What brought us where we are now is silence that a dictator had translated as an approval. The record should be set straight and the criminals should face the music.
  10. Xiin, your whole comeback diatribe above is full of circular hollow interpretations and mystified self re-assurance with patterned lexis. you have yet to come up with something original! This whole victimization claim and finger-pointing fixture is just another smoke screen of your ilk , for an obvious clannish revulsion. It is so unpromising of a two-faced idealist like you!
  11. macangag maxuu music ka kasaa - madaxweeyne aad diplomatic aheeyn ood weli u maleeysid inuu mahbareeynaayo maskax qabiilna wata maa music wax ka yaqaan? yaan loo gafin fanka.... His authoritarian tendency was exposed by both interviews though the Shabeelle Media Network did first-rate job by conducting the interview professionally.. With Yusuf Garaad, it was was another ball-game! more like a chat ...he doesn't like to be interrupted and Yusuf Garaad give him a break perhaps in reverence of his old age. Yeey shows no presidential grace whatsoever!
  12. even though this is no starter......and it is not good to scare people ...Yeey is an elderly feeble octogenarian (with transplanted expired liver and with some clannish hallucination.) He will soon give up the ghost and his days are numbered...man.... if he is all of your hope and deams .....then...your doom is so imminent...some have been inspired by this loonie! it may seem odd to some, but he is an idol to some. His clique (including you) is daydreaming of ridiculous conspiracies that hold no water. the ones who woke up from that reverie are now deserting him in exile and in the wilderness of Nairobi/East Leigh and flocking back to Xamar Cadde - Morgan and Ina-Gabyoow's favorable reception and home coming would suffice to show how the fantasy is suddenly fading into nightmare. We heard all the above farce. Come up with something ground-breaking. No one can isolate Mogadishu and the primordial clan jesting schemes are...my friend...Completely obsolete... so before it is too late join your folks and come to your senses. AU doesn't have the funding, ragtag, less skilled and starving Ugandans and Sudanese can't fight with fierce Somali forces.Distressing thing is there won't be no black hawk and copra birds to down.
  13. To whom the warlords and their proxies should reliqnuish these so called dynamic cities and fertile lands? ( the kismayo, merka and brava of yester years are no more - if you haven't been there... ) There are those who will argue that these cities are in the hands of their rightful owners and some enterprising settlers who already brought more prosperity and opportunities. Xiin, what is shocking though is your calling for another senseless civil war. This seems unconventional for a punch of spineless defeatists who can’t engage their adversaries in any confrontation whatsoever. So who is going to fight for such a lost cause? Qoti farmers? I am sure the opposing faction ( the so-called occupiers) will be sarcastic and ecstatic about your naïveté “Bring it onâ€! Yeey & Melez!!
  14. How so? Mr. Xiin? Mr. Xiin; let us not pander to personal attacks. It is always good to challenge each other intellectually. for my part, I do apologize for my patronizing harangue above but it was a reaction to your derisive bout. but, whatever grievances you may have, it is perilous and uncivilized to smear those who hold a different view than yours.
  15. Mogadishu gunmen, residents team up for peace 25 May 2005 10:17:20 GMT Source: Reuters By Mohamed Ali Bile and Guled Mohamed MOGADISHU/NAIROBI, May 25 (Reuters) - Mogadishu warlords have demobilised hundreds of fighters in a joint security drive with civic groups that is unprecedented in Somalia's long history of failed peace efforts, Somalis say. The move aims to persuade jittery ministers in the divided government that one of the world's most violent capitals is safe enough to serve as the base of the fledgling administration, currently working from Kenya where it was formed at peace talks. Liaising with militia bosses on peace measures for the first time, women have sold jewellery and businessmen donated cash to finance camps around the anarchic city to house more than 2,000 militiamen for disarmament and rehabilitation, Somalis say. "People have called for this before, but this is the first time that anything remotely approaching this has ever actually happened," said Matt Bryden of the Crisis Group think tank. "Civic groups have never played such an active role." Many residents are reserving judgement, noting that only a fraction of the city's gunmen have been demobilised and dozens of militia checkpoints remain. "What's important is establishing the rule of law," said former policeman Hashim Hussein. But the rate of killings, kidnappings and robberies has fallen in recent weeks, and Somalis are taking note. "Daily $3,000 to $4,000 is collected from civil society and wellwishers," said civic activist Abdullahi Shirwa. "The money is given to trustworthy women's groups who ensure the militia are fed and clothed. The boys look happy and cooperate well." A dispute over where to install President Abdullahi Yusuf's clan-based government -- the 14th attempt at restoring effective government in almost as many years -- has deepened power struggles within his cabinet. Its location is a key security issue for the Horn of Africa, a region long buffeted by Somalia's political turmoil. Somalia collapsed into chaos after the overthrow of military ruler Mohammed Siad Barre in 1991. Conflict and famine have killed hundreds of thousands of people since then. Yusuf and Prime Minister Mohamed Ali Gedi want the cabinet to move to the provincial towns of Baidoa and Jowhar, saying Mogadishu, where Yusuf lacks a powerbase, is too dangerous. But parliament speaker Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan and allied warlords want the cabinet in Mogadishu and plan to stabilise the city of one million provided funds keep coming. ROBBED AND ABDUCTED The United States, European Union and African Union have welcomed their plan. But Yusuf dismisses it, noting guns are handed not to an independent party but to ex-army officers training the militiamen for police work or for welfare service. "It is a first step on a very long path to peace and stability," said internet cafe owner Hussein Yarow. "What's important is to remove checkpoints," said teacher Asha Yusuf, noting less than a tenth of the city's gunmen had been removed. Warlord Omar Mahamud Mohamed, better known as Omar Finnish, said 156 battlewagons -- trucks mounted with heavy machineguns -- had been removed from Mogadishu. The drive marks a change in attitude among warlords long dismissive of the city's many welfare organisations that provide low-cost medical and educational services. Women's activist Asha Shaur Ugas said women played a leading role. "Many women sold their gold and jewellery, while some contributed money. We provide uniforms, cutlery, foodstuff to the militia (in cantonment camps)," she said. "Many Somalis living abroad have also promised to contribute," said speaker Sharif Hassan. "I urge the international community to support this initiative."
  16. I watched the whole game! it was really a good game to watch! I was cheering for liverpool because of the detestation i have for that bigoted Berlusconi. I used to be AC. Milan fan.
  17. Xiin Faniin -- my man is noticeably an embittered chap. We should all have compassion for him. There are so many others like him who are inflicted with this kind of clannish resentment. unfortunately his ilk can’t differentiate what is constructive and what is not. let this be his venting place lest it may heal these deep frustrations and Psychological wounds. the somali civil war has all impacted us severly and it is goin to be quite painful recuperate its tragic anguish.
  18. Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia has been hit with unremitting, negative propaganda by the adversaries of Somalia in the name of security and terrorism. The principal agent of these forces is President Col. Abdullahi Yusuf and the Addis Camp of the divided Somali Transitional Government. It is very clear that the Ethiopian government (the Wayani Regime) has decided that the defamation of Mogadishu and dehumanization of its inhabitants is the road that will lead them to dominate and effectively take control of Somalia. The Somalis who are arguing whether or not Mogadishu is safe or where to relocate are missing the big picture. The most significant outcome from the two years of the Somali Peace Conference sponsored by IGAD is the loss of the right of Somalia as a sovereign independent nation and people in the eyes of IGAD. This outcome may have been a big surprise to most Somalis but it was, nonetheless, a calculated, deceitful, and deceptive act against the interest of Somali people. Those who closely followed the Mpaghati fiasco cannot easily overlook the humiliation of the Somali conference attendees, the rampant corruption and strong arm-twisting, and the manipulation of the process, rules, and procedures of the conference by IGAD members. With all its shortcomings, the Somali people accepted the outcome of the conference reluctantly hoping to regroup and regain their place in the world as a viable, free, and democratic nation in the near future. Today, Somalis are waking up to a country that is more divided than ever and inching toward a new civil war, to a new dictator and tyrant with a bloody history, and to a larger and stronger neighbor who is determined to take control of their country and people. In order to legitimize the dictatorship of Col. Yusuf and the control of Somalia by the Wayanis of Addis, Mogadishu has become their punching bag and the last obstacle to their evil intentions. It is a fact that the Wayanis already control much of Somalia through their proxy Warlords but Mogadishu remains their biggest price and has been the most difficult to attain. It is time all Somalis regardless of region, city, or clan to unite and face the possibilities of losing their freedom and country. In particular, the Mogadishu citizens should take the lead and fight against the negative bogus image presented by Ethiopia. It is never too late for one to reclaim their dignity and reputation. It is time for Mogadishu citizens and the rest of Somalis to speak out. It is time Mogadishu to take its rightful place in Somalia as the capital city for all Somalis. It is time to point out the abundance of private schools, hospitals and universities in Mogadishu. It is time to remind the world how independent media such as radio, television, and newspapers is flourishing in Mogadishu. It is time to tell the world how business and commerce is thriving in Mogadishu. It is time to signify the real estate, small industry, and telecommunications boom in Mogadishu. It is time to tell the world that Mogadishu citizens are not criminals and terrorists but citizens like any another city struggling to better their city and people. In order to face the formidable Ethiopian aggression of our country, I propose the following to the citizens of Mogadishu: - To organize a major peaceful demonstration bringing all Mogadishu citizens to reclaim their city image and welcome the Speaker of the Parliament - how about calling it “The Million Mogadishu Citizens March†roughly translated to Somali “Isku soobaxa hal million oo qof oo reer Muqdisho ahâ€. - To tell the world loudly and clearly that Mogadishu is not a city inhabited by criminals and terrorists as claimed by President Col. Yusuf and Meles Zenawi. - To demand that Mogadishu leaders work toward lasting peace and local administration of the city and to support them wholeheartly with moral and material. - To be vigilant and ready to replace the Mogadishu leaders if they fail to deliver their promises or fail to follow the leadership of Honorable Sharif Hassan Aden, the Speaker of the Parliament - To lend a hand and support the Speaker and the members of the parliament who came to Mogadisho to save Somalia from extinction and to build democratic institutions from the ashes of the previous dictatorship. - To appeal to all Somali sister cities to participate the “The Million Mogadishu Citizens March†event in their own ways. - To plea directly to the United Nations, African Union, European Union , United States , and the Arab League to intervene and stop the arming of dictator and his warlords by the Ethiopian government and the illegal meddling of Somali affairs. - To communicate to the International Community that Mogadishu is ready to host democratic Somali government but not dictatorship again and not for sure a surrogate government - To repeat the “The Million Mogadishu Citizens March†once every month until there is no longer a threat from the Wayanis of Addis and their stooge. The above actions should be the start of long struggle not less than the struggle for the Somali independence in importance and intensity. The struggle for Mogadishu is not to be taken lightly by Somalis regardless of political view, region, or clan affiliation. We should not get confused the long-term agenda of the Wayanis of Addis with the disagreements among the Somalis. It is worthwhile to be noted that even during the struggle of Somalia independence there were those Somalis that sided with the colonial powers and advocated the continuation of the colonization based on security and Somalis not being able to govern themselves. We can say that history is repeating itself too often in Somalia to the decrement of the Somali people. Somalia is at the verge of re-colonization and dictatorship once again. by: H. Warsame
  19. Abti Junior(if that is me?) lean back, relax, make yourself comfortable and feel like at home don't you think what iam thinking yacni this whole rivarly thing is just beyond my comprehension. We Somalis are one people, who have one country, one god and one believe system and there is no such thing as comitions(compitition?) and rivalries between us especially those of us who use the forums of SOL. but from various clans / sub-clans and rivalries/animosities and why is it that most of the posters here are avid supporters of his Excellency warlord Yeey though? and why is that all Yeey's cheerleader's have the same monlithic take and same views on things? It makes you wonder!. There is no such mysterious account opened in Mogadishu. It is a cloudless and confirmed, well intentioned fundraising. Rather than begging for handouts, it is "do-it-for-yourself" initiative and so far it is working fine. Somalis from all walks of life, inside the country, those in the Diaspora (Europe, Gulf States, North America) have so far collected close to One Million US$ Dollars. it is for reconclilliation, reconstruction, disarmament and demobilization (RR & DD. Not to oust/overthrow Yeey and his clique ( as long as he is not inline with the interest of Soon to be defeated Melez or Ethiopian Hegemony)

  21. Why I do have the feeling that Sky and Contra flow are the same and the one? Could you guys clarify who are the oppressors and the oppressed here? Is this what we “Ciyaal Xaafad†coin as a “Jump-Ball.†That tactic has been tried and it is outdated (tardy ball game). Times have changed and people are savvier than they were before. The whole irrational recurring tirade from both posters is just the characteristic trivial reaction we are accustomed of certain circles.. I detect some desperation and estrangement here. peace will come and things will get better but the journey is difficult. yaan la quusan! better times are ahead

  23. Fiction: all the warlords and warring factions signed a nominal peace agreement in Kenya. Fiction: The warlords selected the most hardnosed warlord among them as their gang-leader. Fact: we are ruled and led by ruthless opportunistic clannish men. This whole sham is our enemies plot. Faanoole fari kama qodna - yaa is gaaray weli? Fact: the transitional government is itself another warring faction, with the ultimate goal of subjugating all other factions (WITH THE HELP OF MELES) and thus being the sole power in the country. Propaganda: Ina-yeey and his clique are pursuing a campaign to defame and dehumanize Mogadishu and its people for the ultimate goal of legitimizing their ambition of clan supremacy and dictatorship. There are some of these lunatics who believe they have been endowed with the birthright to rule and lead. Pragmatism: Mogadishu ppoulace( tired of violence and nonesense) are very well informed and intelligent and no group, on their right mind, will give up their hard-won clout to backward-looking deceitful rival. Fact: Over past fourteen years some parts and regions of Somalia (Hargeisa, Boosaaso, etc) had experienced different stages of stability and resemblance of peace. Fact: Mogadishu is the capital city. Basically, Somalia is Mogadishu and Mogadishu is Somalia. Now it is Mogadishu's turn to work on re-examining its plight and finding solutions for its problems. Jinni yaa bixiya ? ninkii keenay! Hope: We are all hoping that this new voluntary disarmament by the Mogadishu warlords will bring a durable peace to the city. This is not only a matter of choice but a requirement for restoring peace and hope in Xamar-Cadde and it should be supported by any means necessary. It is not a smokescreen conspiracy to overthrow or defeat any Somali faction but a genuine attempt to re-establish law and order in the capital city. Suggestion: Let me note here that the way to lasting peace will require promoting national conscientiousness rather than clannish partiality. The way to long-lasting peace requires an open and honest discussion of all issues, particularly, the ones that may be considered emotional and embarrassing such as discrediting your own feverish clansmen and confronting or breaking ties to the group think insularity of your clannish nomads.
