  3. Ms. Word, sis that is not a poem, it is a song sing by Khadra dahir. Word has it, she fall in love with a fellow singer, and a lot of people gave her problems because of this person she fall in love with. She is talking to them. saying that hey, I don't give a rats behind if the dude has not one single penny, I'll share with him a Darmo and sleep on the floor. As long as I have him, I am happy. Have a happy holidays
  4. I would be all for it if Nuradin wanted to be a President. But I know he would never be that greedy. First of all he is no a sycophant like the warlords, he does not bow down to the west. He is truely a nationalist. He has never changed his Citizenship, what I heard through the grapevine. To be a Somali president in this time and age, you must be a lackey, to Ethiopia, Kenya, USA, Arabs, Isreal, Italy, China, Russia, on and on. All these people have some stake in who is going to be a Somali president. The US State department is campaining to make Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrai, and D'jabuti into one Country that is under Ethiopia. and you talk about Somali having a president. That is why they want to make sure piece by piece somali is torn. First they gave away Ogadenia and NFD, ordered Jabuti to be one, now Somali South and North to separate. Somali republic is rule by Ethiopia vicariously through the warlords, or so call reginal President. Show me one warlord, regional president that is not in friendly terms with Ethiopia and I will show you a man whose days are numbered. When we stop dividing each other by clans, when we all realize we are Somalis and proud to be one, then we might have hope. Alas, our present state does not presage a Government, or peace in our time. We will be like Afghanistant. Forever, in a state of anarchy. Where are the Darwishs and the SYL heroes of our time? Those proud men whose motto and mantra was: Ax yaa wadan, yaa somali ahey? Somali baan ahey, sanku neefle ma ogali iga sareyn kara!
  5. I was sorry to Hear Edward Said's Passing away. but he was sick for a long time. It was a matter of time. May he rest in Peace. Sometimes it is better to die then live with such pain. As for Christopher Hitchens, That alcoholic, chain smoking Jew! I used to love to read his writtings, but when he was all for the Iraq war and Bush propaganda I stopped reading about anything Hitchens. A jew will always be a Jew. No matter how he pretends to be open minding about the Isreal/Palistian situation.
  6. Safi Salaams, I received your book, signed by you, early in one morning, right infront of my door. Thank you very much. It was a pleasant surprise! I used to ride buses and Metro (subway). It was hell driving to and fro DC. I read all through my ride, and read when I get to work, I was peaking all day long, read through out my lunch break, and read through the ride back and in the wee hours of the night. Your book was fascinating to me. I loved it. I called my friends and asked them to get a copy. I love all things Somali, I think I have read every book written by Somali Author. can get enough of them. We need more writer. You are an inspiration to all young somali girls. Someone to look up to: A pious Muslima, an educated woman (Journalist),a mother, a wife and a writer. Maansha Allah! Brings to mind that new book, " How does she do it" can wait to get your new book. Insha Allah, I will be on the look out when it comes out. I come here from time to time. Keep it up sis. Allah ha kuu kordhiyo kartidaada. Amin
  7. lol@ Ameenah, You know you are so right about their ego! my godness I swear they are so selfcentered and so egotistic I sometimes wonder why they even bother to look for a woman. normally man look for a woman to love and care for him. Here these guys are so much inlove with themselves you want to say hey there no room for me in you life, come back when you are in need of a company. To answer Velishs question, I stopped looking after I keep meeting either jealous obsessive guys or selfcentered egomaniacs. I am loving every minute of my siglehood walaahi I don't know how I will ever deal with a man
  8. The second one I would like to share with you is this email I received from a friend: WOMEN They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous They fight for what they believe in. They stand up for injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without new shoes so their children can have them. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart. Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin! Women do more than just give birth. They bring joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have a lot to say and a lot to give. This has been sent to you from someone who respects you as a woman Pass it along to your woman friends to remind them how amazing they are............ IT'S BEAUTIFUL WOMEN MONTH! IT'S GOOD TO BE THE WOMAN. We got off the Titanic first. We can scare male bosses with mysterious gynaecological disorder excuses. Taxis stop for us. We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing. No fashion faux pas we make could ever rival The Speedo. We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves. If we forget to shave, no one has to know. We can congratulate our team-mate without ever touching her rear. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there. We have the ability to dress ourselves. We can talk to people of the opposite sex without having to picture them naked. If we marry someone 20 years younger, we're aware that we look like an idiot. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems. We can fully assess a person just by looking at their shoes. We can make comments about how silly men are in their presence, because they aren't listening anyway.
  9. May is the Month for women. I have recieved couple of Emails about women an I would like to share it with you. BLACK WOMAN CAKE: I'm making a black woman cake cause I'm hungry as hell. And the sweet tooth I have, only a sista can break the spell. Let me reach into my spice rack to see what I can get. To make a mix that will stick to my stomach you can bet. 2 cups of intelligence, 1 cup of sugar brown. Cause she's got to be sweet, mental, deep and sound. Cinnamon is always good to accent the taste. A few cups of culture so she's down for her race. You see I won't bite into anything that's not conscious of its own. That's why I stick to chocolate and leave angel food alone. I am adding butter cause she must be smooth. 2 raisins for the dimples will also be cool. I must add eggs so she can reproduce. Can't leave her hanging cause I like children too!! I think I'll add a little salt to balance her out. And a dominant profile to show she has clout. For a responsible woman I'll throw in some yeast So she'll swell with juices when I'm ready to feast. I'll add 7 cups of courage and into the oven to bake. Turn it to 360 degrees to balance out her mental state. Now that it's done brothas I won't share her wealth But I'm sharing the recipe as I'm consuming this black woman all by myself. Pass this along to some of the "Good Black Women" you know, and a few men that need to read it*. Good Black Women are indeed all around us. We pass them On the streets, in the malls, in captivity behind the walls, And the hall at work. Most we can't see because we don't Know what a good woman really looks like. She usually isn't flashy enough or rich enough to turn our heads. She might not wear a fur coat or push an Lx. She might not have a "body by Fisher" or a face for "Ebony". But, as you mature, you realize it's better to find someone who's got your back than someone who turns your head. A good woman doesn't agree wholeheartedly with everything you say. She doesn't just tell you what you want to hear And do the opposite. She doesn't declare how sensitive, Sweet, caring, sincere, yada -yada, she is (she won't have To because it shows). She has her own opinions and you may clash, but she doesn't have to degrade you to prove she's right. She even admits at times to being wrong, especially if you are willing to do the same. A good woman is not going to meet every item on your checklist. She is human with frailties & faults mixed in with all of her wonderful, sensual attributes. She needs your love & respect she needs to feel that you don't have to catch her doing something wrong so you can declare, "Aha! I knew you were a dog!!!" A good woman doesn't necessarily give you a huge Birthday or Valentine gift. She shows her love in the ways that are comfortable to her. Don't judge her by TV standards. No one is living that Fairy tale - for real. BLACK WOMEN, we salute you, and thank you for who you are, And all you've done. [This message has been edited by Ashwaq (edited 05-18-2002).]
  10. I can't gabay, Buranbur ka waran? 11. The reason the C-section became a trend for the young Somali ladies has very little to do with misdiognosis or running away from pain. Actually, some women choose it over natural birth, why becuase they are doing fav. for their husbands, if you know what I mean, I always thought that it was the doctors encouraging these women to have the C-section, so they can charge plenty Dinnaro but no! it is the woman who are intiating this thing. Don't you think these women suffer enough at young age when the FGM was done to them, do they have to go through other form of mutalation all over again? Yaa rab, I will never understand these women, Bleaching their skin, FGM, C-Section for what? for a man, No man in the world is worth such body abuse. I actually spoke with several woman, educated and not, they seem to have the same mentality about this. Maybe the education would have start them learning Self-love and how to be darn selfish. How many children do I want to have, the answer is none, I figure why go through that hassle when I can adopt one, you now having children from the heart. So, I choose not to have a child until I am ready when that day comes maybe I will adopt ten Orphanes, I figure no pain, but plenty of gain the day of judgement. Raring 10 homeless children, giving hope is better than having a replica of some man. hehehe, you can see this woman is not ready for marriage or hhmmmm lol [This message has been edited by Ashwaq (edited 05-15-2002).]
