  1. Before I can give my piece on this …..Is this out of your curiosity, or it’s a case in point that you or same one that you know wants to act on this? I am asking this cuz, you have stated the person involved is pregnant, so I want suggest to work things out, and make every possible mechanism to avoid divorce, since it’s a terrible option. Salam

  3. 4 Furious pages in just two days on a thread that should really concern other’s. As Somalis we are very far to be at a position to be judgmental of other’s. Either Arabs or non-Arabs, Muslims and non-Muslims and their worldly accomplishments or be critical of their deviation from Islam. Lets look at the mirror, our backyard is the epicenter of backwardness. Salam
  4. To read this wasn’t surprise to me, There was a similar Somali individual, who converted to Christianity in the late 70’s and reached the status of Bishop. I completely forgot his name, his name might have been Mohamed too, but i could be wrong, it has been a good while since i have seen the video, he has done missionary work in east Africa, North America and other places. With the help of the Allah(sw) all Mighty,, the gentleman reconverted back to Islam after calling people including Somalis to Christianity for nearly 20 years. If you are interested his amazing story, they should have his video at your local Somali owned Islamic store. At the Video, he discusses on how he had wrestled with Christian concept of Trinity and its three divine gods in one God, And one particular Verse in Surat Al-Baqarah which got him thinking life. I am sure that gentlemen still resides in N-America, may be the good folks of Minnesota should arrange a head to head meeting b/w these to individuals. Salam!

  6. Caaqil excellent topic I know one thing for sure, we (Somali folks) in Diaspora can’t neglect our families & relatives who are in dire need, so we are left with the only choice of continuing this irreversible dependency. Its true to same extent that most folks who send money back home encourage passive life style for our folks back home, due to the small amount/month of money we send them. Which doesn’t help them or us to get out of the stalemate. I have seen few cases where people get together and send large some of money to help them start business, but in the most cases we can only send what we can afford, which keeps them survive but in the long-run continues the never ending dependency cycle. But I’ll give credit to mainly Somali mother’s in Diaspora who engage into this financial system called “Hikbad†or “Ayuutoâ€, where trusting group of them collect money of each other to help any meaningful ways to their relatives back home Lastly I’ll suggest lets not look at only the negative aspect of this endless dependency, and lets focus the over all picture and the unqualified success of this “Money Soo dhiib†concept, how it helped a nation with out government so long, with out mass starvation. I was looking a collected research data listed of African Countries and their GDP from 2000 to 2003. I was stun to find Somalia with out a central government had faired good enough to have better GDP then few African Countries like Ethiopia. This could only be attributed to the willing/eager family members in Diaspora to keep their families/relatives from starvation, with a Nation that was at the grip of thugs and warlords this long, I am surprised the situation at the ground is not miserable. But, I agree with you in the long-term this dependency could have an ugly consequence. Salam!
  7. wlc to SOL Hobk, ……as 4 the topic you raise that subject is untouchable for me. Dawoco, Yaah, Hooyo sure gives goody advice,…laakiin At the moment I am scouting on my neighbors “hooyo†to sharpen my skills 4 the day I knock @dawaco’s front door. I have this weird habit of being extremely quite around Somali Mother’s, I barely say a word, would that help me or hurt my chances with your “Hooyo†of taking Dawaco to the beautiful scenery of Tora-bora?
  8. Horn Question 4 you?… I never visited AllGedo website,,.. But I’ll take your word for how they distort Ethiopian involvement in Gedo region. I can understand some feeble minded individual in Gedo who is supporting Ethios, through greed and ignorance, but why is’t a Diaspora based organizations and other’s like allgedo continue on this vicious cycle of prolonging the suffering of their people?, I am sure its not financial or economical reasoning. So, what is their gain on misinforming pll and supporting Ethio’s tyranny and inflicting more pain for the inhabitants of Gedo?. The Camel Herding Nomad in Gedo, who is illiterate knows the true intentions of Ethiopian regime. I also know this problem is a microcosms of all Somalia, where one organization or group supports causes that are harmful to their fellow communities. Salam!
  9. Horrible responses to her article!…..Having recently been in UK, I was impressed with the presence of Muslims or so I though the acceptance of Muslim religion and attire in that society. You could be in same districts of London and B’ham and all you’ll see is sister’s with full Hijaab n’ Brother’s wearing Suna gear, a relatively rare site in this part of the World. So, its surprising to read this article from UK, since I was custom to hear this type of Hijaab negativity here in N-America. Salaam! Later

Lets not call names like “Used Stuffâ€, we are so stereotypical of pll who’s their "Calaf" of marriage ended. 16. Vikings you raise an interesting point. QUANTUM LEAP,NGONGE: Its probably good strategy to bring foreign know-how to Dubai, and I totally agree they are trying help other Muslims. They even help Somalis, when I visited there last June I met few entrepreneurial Somalis, there was two Somali guys who started their own semiconductor biz, they even hired couple of Indian programs. But it’s important to note that its big business and globalization, which plays dominant feature in Dubai. So the major benefits go to western countries that invest Arab money in Dubai, built it with cheap Indian workforce and other migrants. I don't agree on the theory that Islam and globalization can live side by side in a society, which is exactly what UAE trying to experiment. The IMF, World Bank and multi-national companies are blood-sucking leeches who suck the economy of the third-world countries and do not let them go until they have drained every single drop of blood out of them. Surely, Dubai don't need IMF and World Bank money thanks to digging of san dunes, but when you read the reports from the Secretary-General of Arab League "Amr Moussa" himself, when he stated that "the combine GDP of all 22 Arab countries is less then that of Spain", it makes you wonder who is really benefiting of all those major projects in Dubai and other Arab countries. Its one thing for a Wealthy Islamic nation to becomes a flagship for globalization in the middle of Arabia, but its whole different matter for raising the stander of living for its inhabitants. My argument is lets look beyond accomplishments of Landmarks in Dubai, but the concept free-market capitalist order of globalization which consistently promotes a market economy that puts greed and material wealth above human respect and dignity. globalization and multi-national corporations are using Economic systems to control free thinking societies like Dubai, we are amazed by few marvel Buildings while the same system of globalization is creating wars/revolutions/sanctions/genocides for under-developed countries and wealth, prosperity for the Western countries. Lets focus on effects of multi-national corporations for poor inhabitants of this earth especially Muslims who at this very moment are suffering from extreme injustice and prosecution even in their own countries. 17. Dubai have doped itself the “Hong-Kong†of the desert, let them built giant landmarks, but remember their wealth didn’t came from brainstorming their people’s minds, it came from digging san dunes for oil. If you have been in Dubai, you’ll notice, UAE is one of the very few Arab Country that has became good hosts to Somalis, yet they don’t invest their own fella Arabs to build on their wealth, virtually all the IT jobs are done by migrant Indians, the civil engineering is mostly done by Americans and Europeans. Lots of IT companies like Sun Microsystems, Cisco system and lots more are in Dubai with very few Arabs. If and when the oil runs out, all they have gained are giant Buildings to show for, and a local population with out the proper knowledge to maintain a modern city. Salaam! Later

  20. Originally posted by Simply_the_Best: ....I honestly do believe that the religion is the problem solver.....sadly many don't think that way . Well said “Simply_the_Bestâ€, If you look at closely in every Somali family break up in Diaspora, the main ingredient missing is fulfilling and obeying the rights Allah(sw) has on the household. The purpose of marriage in Islam is not pleasure, lust, love or any other human desires to fulfill our impulses but to continue and increase the Muslim community’s population and to produce righteous children who will obey Allah(sw), serve the people, and be a source of reward for their deceased parents. This goal could be achieved by making sure three sets of rights are maintained accordingly, 1) Rights Allah(sw) has over the Muslim Household 2) Rights of the Husband in the Muslim household 3) Rights of the Wife in the Muslim household. But when actions are undertaken in a Muslim Household that is disobedience to Allah(sw), then we don’t receive His blessing and therefore end up with a corrupt community and society. As Muslims, we should not engage in something as important as marriage without a comprehensive understanding of the ensuing rights and obligations. There is “Qadar†for every thing in Islam, and we ought to believe in Allah(sw), so that if single mother/father is becoming common in our communities we shouldn’t blame Somali men for not recognizing their responsibility or Somali women for challenging and taking the man's role in the family. These assumptions are true for same, But I think there's a bigger perspective that might help make sense of all this perceived male-bashing and female-bashing for what are the true causes of single motherhood. For the entire process of marriage to work and thrive as Muslims, our mindset of marriage has to change from one of pleasing ourselves to one of pleasing to Allah(sw) and befitting to him, Only then we can expect a life of contentment and happiness for future generations. In order to be successful in Marriage we should seek Allah(sw)’s blessing, should be proper and consistent with the teachings of the Qur’an and the Sunna. Ps: May Allah(sw) help marriage folks, its a daunting test for great majority of Muslims in Diaspora. Aamin
  21. asalaamu'alalikum, Dear Nomads, Muslim scholars collected ever hundreds of thousands of Hadiths and every Hadith has great value and quality for Muslims, So lets share same of our favotire hadiths that we keep in mind in out daily lives. Here are few of my favotire Hadiths. 1}. It Is narrated on the authority of Abdullah b. Mas'ud that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him), observed: He who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter Paradise. A person (amongst his hearers) said: Verily a person loves that his dress should be fine, and his shoes should be fine. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: Verily, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace. Pride is disdaining the truth (out of self-conceit) and contempt for the people. By Muslim 2}. Abu Huraira reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: One is not strong because of one's wrestling skillfully. They said: Allah's Messenger, then who is strong? He said: He who controls his anger when he is in a fit of rage.By Muslim 3}. Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet drew a square and then drew a line in the middle of it and let it extend outside the square and then drew several small lines attached to that central line, and said, "This is the human being, and this, (the square) in his lease of life, encircles him from all sides (or has encircled him), and this (line), which is outside (the square), is his hope, and these small lines are the calamities and troubles (which may befall him), and if one misses him, an-other will snap (i.e. overtake) him, and if the other misses him, a third will snap (i.e. overtake) him. By Bukhari. 5}. 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said, "Allah's Apostle took hold of my shoulder and said, 'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler." The sub-narrator added: Ibn 'Umar used to say, "If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death. By Bukhari. 4}. Allah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa'sallam) said: Love the one whom you love to a certain degree (moderately), perhaps one day he will be someone for whom you have hatred, and hate the one for whom you have hatred to a certain degree (moderately), perhaps one day he will be one whom you love.By Tirmidhee Salam! Many Somalilanders including me can’t understand why Arab league particularly Egypt, Saudi Arabi and probably Libya ignores Somaliland’s right to exist. Amazing! Its not only Arab countries, its the whole world that doesn't recognize Somaliland, may I remind you its only Ethiopian government. But, what is mind boggling to me is you don't seem to grasp the intentions of the Tegre Regime in Ethiopia. The sooner Somaliland is recognized the better chance to restore peace, law and order in the South. There, that is your whole thesis for this article say it “desperado for independenceâ€, just be blunt about it, No need to kiss the Tigre regime’s a$$, and spread hate for the rest of Somalis in a Online Somali Forum. bilateral relations we have to day our brothers Ethiopia as well as the use of Ethiopia our port Barbra. woow, you are even admitting they are using you for their own selfish interest. Our children’s children will look back through their history books with admiration and thanks for the Ethiopian people. We shall give whatever help we can to our brothers Ethiopia as they did for us. Talk about miss-educating kids, any though process going through you, when your writing here ? Name one thing Ethiopia has done for somaliland other then say "you are independent somalilanders". I wished you would brag a different type of allied with you then Ethiopia, if I where you I would hide being an ale with Ethiopia, they can’t even survive, they beg the rest of the world every year just to feed their people, they can’t offer Food, adequate medicine for their own people, yet they are so land locked they have to use your port to survive. One thing to keep in mind is I am glad most Somalilanders are not as hateful as you are to love and kiss the Tigre Government in Ethiopia at the expense and severing Somalis in the South, in the hands of Ethiopian Government. 24. Nur. Question Bro, let me first state the Hadith: "It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) said: Faith has over seventy branches or over sixty branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the humblest of which is the, removal of what is injurious from the path: and modesty is the branch of faith."By Muslim. We know Eemaan has over sixty or seventy different branches from reading this Hadith. 1) shaahaada “La ilaha il Allah, Muhammad-ur-Rasool-Allah†is the first Branch of Eemaan. --Modest is one of them. --Patient is an other one from what I have heard from the Culama. 60)/70.)As stated from the Hadith Above removing harmful object from the path is also one branch, and from what I heard from the Culama, it’s the last Branch. So, my Question is do you know any book that I could look up for all the different branches of Eemaan.? Salam! Later
