  1. I’ll vote neither one of them, in fact they would look better in a Orange-prison jump suits, Better yet hang them at a public forum. If these two disappear on the face of earth, it would only be beneficial to all Somalis and we’ll be two short of long a list of power hungry despots.
  2. I hope Reporter Faaruuq is doing fine, what a Team they all look bunch of Pigs and Monkeys to me. later!
  3. Oh NOOO.. I am not here to critisized the website administrators. But, I truly suggest removing these types of threads. This would only expose minors to this type of meaningless discussions and at the same time down grade the importance of the site. I am sure there is company policy regarding the misuse of your site, and I hope they are enforced. Thanks No harm intended!
  4. By P.K Katharason & Shahanaaz Habib RUWEISHED: Hiba Ali and Fauziah Moumein are now safe at a refugee camp in Jordan but their hearts are with the Iraqi people they left behind. The two Somali girls on an Iraqi government scholarship at the University of Baghdad took a US$50 (RM190) bus ride, which took eight hours to cross into the Jordanian border from the Iraqi capital, a day before US-led forces started bombing. “We were very sad to leave. Some of us girls were crying in the bus all the way here. “We love the Iraqis. They are very nice and kind to us. If you are there, you will understand what I mean. They treated us like queens,” said Hiba, trying hard to hold back her tears. She said the two of them did not want to leave but their Iraqi friends advised them to leave and be safe. “They even offered to drive us to the border,” she said. The first-year biology student said all the Iraqis she knew did not want to leave as they wanted to stay and defend their country. Her Iraqi friends said they had seen wars before. “The people have a lot of pride. Leaving Baghdad would be like a big humiliation for them,” she said. Both Hiba and Fauziah managed to contact their families back in Somalia by e-mail at the refugee camp to let them know they were safe. Fauziah said they did not want to go back to Somalia as there was also a war there. “So we told our parents we will stay here and go back to Iraq when things clear up,” she said. Asked what her message to the US or Britain was, she said: “Tell them to stop the war.”
  5. Yusufaddie, You said, “Ethiopia is nothing but a test and punishment from Allah upon the somali people.”…..I agree with that premise, and if you look around the world Or check out the recent UN reports there is about 24 major conflicts around the Globe. Virtually every single one of them involves in Country where the majority of inhabitants are Muslim population. So I agree that we are living in a testing time as Muslims on this earth regardless of our nationality. The roots of Ethiopian aggression towards Somalia goes back centuries, It’s was the King Menelik’s reign of Ethiopia who made a deal with Europeans, during their meeting “scramble for Africa”. King Menelik sent a letter to the Colonizing Europeans by saying, and I am paraphrasing here “Ethiopian border ends at the sea of Indian Ocean”, therefore deifying the existence of Somali people and their land. Finally Ethiopia is about to realize the dream which they envisioned long ago by making Somalia as Mini-Ogaden regions as their own Protectorate’s which they can run as they wish. What the Ethiopian Governments has been doing to Ogaden people is absolutely abhorring and despicable. I have seen reports where every few years they block roads in the Ogaden region, so that the local Ogaden inhabitants would starve and they would ask donations and money from the international Communities by making money out of the suffering people. Ethiopia was never friend of mind, as I stay in the west I will continue to compete against them, and when I go back to Africa they should meet me at the barrel of a gun.
  6. …Ethiopia has been and will continue to divide us, but economically they are in a worst predicament then the people in Somalia. I recently came across Statistics of how much the average teacher makes in Ethiopia, and its $21/month. $21 dollars a month, even my grandma who is illiterate and is now residing in Somalia has better living conditions then their teachers.

  8. News Media either be Network TV or Print papers are own by corporations, as they get richer they identify more with the elite and the powerful rather then the people they suppose to inform. It’s certainly getting to a point where you can’t distinguish the Journalist from the Politician. I found these articles fascinating as it dealt with the reasons, why same of us seek the news out side of North America. There might be more News media in North America then any other place in the face of earth, yet its audiences are the most misinform people in the world. http://news.independent.co.uk/digital/features/story.jsp?story=387981 http://argument.independent.co.uk/commentators/story.jsp?story=362545
  9. Excellent reply Che, When I saw the title “SOMALI GUYS HELP ME OUT”, I expected to do warrior type help, but all I saw was harmless topic… Nevertheless, I think the more the girl keeps me in the dark about her past the best. Later!
  10. Like the above sister said….I believe its his loss as well. But sister.. I believe the best advice I can offer is to be closer to Allah. By being strong in your faith it will definitely uplift you and humble your heart. may Allah help you take control of your life. It’s the one thing, if all of us has done we wouldn’t be looking others in this materialistic world to make us happy. Salaam!
  11. First I am new here and with the recommendation of a friend I join this web site with delight. I never though I would see Nomad website where Civil discussion over came narrow mindedness. I am not here advocating revolution nor do I expect one from my people, but we really need to change our mindset. Every society on earth has gone through its dark days, but the sad thing for us is we are going through ours in the 21’st Century. We can improve the daily live's of the people in Diaspora and the once back in Somalia by taking grassroots initiatives such as: 1). Colleges and Universities 2). Mosque’s For starter we attend to Colleges and Universities in every city in North America and across the globe. Since most of Somalia is filled with uneducated people, which helped few feeble minded bigots take full advantage of the situation by tribal alliance, I believe this educated generation can make difference in our communities by taking pride in what is good in our rich culture and eliminate its devious ugly aspects. And the other point is Mosque taking part in discouraging or eliminating this tribal believes. At my local mosque every Friday’s Sermon is good and educational. This week it was about “fasting curtain day of this month”. The pervious one was “how to be good Muslim to your neighbor” or “how to raise kids in loving environment”.. etc. All these sermons are excellent, but since our homeland is in ruined and we are “Qaxooti” of world over. Can you envision, if Friday Sermon’s effectively assert their lectures on the desperate never-ending anarchy facing our homeland. Since most of our people associate more with clan than religion, wouldn’t Friday’s sermons be a form to wake up people and affirm them killing, raping and degrading other Somalis simply for their clan affiliation can only lead the road to hell. Not that all of us are into tribal stuff, but I believe majority of us are reluctant to clean our hearts of the prejudice towards each other. One Sheik who attempted endlessly to wake people up from their fake tribal prides was Boqol Soon (pbuh). I hope lots of our local sheikh’s have the courage to face up to Tribal believes and help clean souls. Then lots of people would think twice before they sit around and rejoice and support the death and destruction of their fellow Somalis. Enough said...share your thoughs plz
  12. Sheytan. if that is how this concept of Midgaan started, thanks for reaffirming my believe of how ignorant and savage same aspect of our culture is. And please don’t equate religion into this, Islam got nothing to do with Sabotaging and striping of one’s dignity because we (Somalis) Label them with Names. Oh and do you know virtually every military army in the world trains its Solders to eat sand, grass and even dead insects. Its call survival, same thing I would do it in a hurry if my life depended on it. Heck I would rather eat dead insects then be in a “feed the children” video as a skeleton body malnutrition.
