  1. Flamboyant, type of men going abroad to get wives "Older gentlemen ...Nerdy types...drunkards, drug/khad addicts, basically your average loser Farax" Good thing for you the player-type brothers are always here and they ain't going no where......lucky you! Salam! Later
  2. We all have seen the rise of Somali websites in the last few years, google it and I’ll get quite a lot of hits, in recent years, we have come to expect that almost every region of Somali had a website appealing to that particular section of the nation and their inhabitants. Some even, went as far as promoting the warlords that control their section of the region and being mouthpiece for them. I remember a year and half ago seeing a website posting pictures of Confiscated property on their site from the opposing region trying to subject humiliation to them. But lately it went farther then that, just last month during Ramadan we all heard about the sad even of the war b/w Somaliland forces and Puntland forces, same of these websites started a trend of posting gruesome dead people pic’s on their website. One of the websites supporting one of these forces posted pics of the dead on their site, and the other responded with similar fashion, I am not sure if both had a dead people’s pics, I believe one site had dead people and the other responded with the names of the people they have killed from the opposing force and pics of the prisoners. We know there is some Somali websites who do honourable service to their clients and provide them useful information. But I believe these acts have started irreversible cruelty that other websites will follow in the future, since we can’t stop brutally back home we sure can have a say in these websites glorifying civil war, these website are run by people like you and me, in fact a 15 year old with a basic knowledge of HTML tags and JavaScript can run these static website, But lets hear your thoughts and suggestions on what we can do to let them know that inflicting maximum humiliation of others by posting gruesome pictures of dead human’s will not serve any one’s interest. I for one suggest we can write to these websites directly through their webmasters, or since they don’t have their own Servers to host their site, you can gota networksolutions.com or register.com and find out their Web hosts and write complaint letter directly to them. Ps. Please if you decide to give your thoughts on this, lets stay away from naming any particular Somali website or a group please, so that we don’t trivialize the issue.
  3. Section6er “Listen you are not making sense.â€. ^^^..Hostility….hostility…I didn’t know expressing an opinion would make people boil like this. Oh, I get it you wanted verses from the Quran that specifically mentions White gowns and Black suits are “Haramâ€? Or make that kinda of a direct correlations, Then the Quran wouldn’t be 114 Sura's and 666 verses. Yet Quran and Hadiths cover every aspect of human life. Its just how you extract the knowledge and interpret the truth. “Which marriage are you claiming to be the right way to get married?†I wrote two Hadiths, from our Prophet(cs) himself, on the right way of wedding celebrations. you need more…I can’t really…
  4. Moti,,sxb you have reached cult like status here , our counterparts don’t like to admit but they like a man who is firm with his believe, even if they disagree with him on every thing. your status caadi ma ahaba,…Kuwa ugu cayda badan baa hadana kuugu jecelbo… Like Dawaco, “As for moti, he hasn't done anythin but calaacal like habar gaanjibo oo gabar yar lala aroosay and doesn't deserve all the attention he is gettin.†Sxb there is real meaning and feeling behind this sentence, Darn! If I was an expert on “Decoded English†language, I would cross-word puzzle this sentence and came up with the phrase “I admire you Motiâ€by-Dawaco. But Moti, I like the idea staying out of the loop while they take their shots,,,,,yea don’t’ say any thing How much you paid to @SomeAllien to write this piece again..^^^ Salam! Later
  5. NGONGE, ^^^…excellent stories…Sujui guy rageedi dheh… Mualimu a Qaacis Somali song got this lyrics in it,..The vocals is actually done by lady telling a guy to be strong who is confessing his love for her …here is a line from that song.. “Nin Raga in uu Cataabaa(calaacalaa), ceebtiisa weeyee waa inuu sidii cadow u calool adkaadaaâ€--- I ain’t suggesting (calacaal) from you, but like @NGONGE said, Waji Loox is the name of the game! 6. We all know knowledge is the ultimate power, I truly believe while Somalia as a society faded into dark and dangerous periods in the last 15 years. There was one shining hope and few Soldiers of Allah(sw), who worked tirelessly, while warlords where reaking havick by killing, raping and mutilating the society with their weapons. These intellectuals of diin where bringing light to the Somali Uma both in their physical and spiritual lives. Here are the names of these Heroes who revived Islam in the minds and hearts of Somali people every where. Sh. Shariif C/nuur. Sh. Cumar faruuq. Sh. C/casiis Xasan Yacquub Sh. Maxamaed Idiris Sh. Mustafe Haruun. Sh. Maxamed Macalin Cabdi(Umal) Sh. Maxamed Axmed Rooble (Boqol Soon-Alla yaa raxma) Sh. Bashiir Shiil And many other Honourable Culama of our communities, Amazingly they are young individuals with the exception of few. Every year they gota different parts of the globe, cities like Toronto, Minnesota, Atlanta, and cities in Europe often times with their own expenses filling up Football arena’s and Mosque's with the simple message of our Diin. Its due to Allah(sw) that Sufism is getting rare in Somali mindset, they warn us the negative impact of our young generation of the mass media and entertainment here in the west, and to be stead fast on our believes and values. My uncle who used to gota “Xamar sare†High school, told me, one day a girl came to school wearing head scarf, the principal send her home, suggesting that she wasn’t seen properly by her teachers, Sub-xanalah. Even my own block back home, we had a neighbour family who was the only family in the entire block whose their daughters all wore “Hijaabâ€, we used call them “akhwaanu muslimiinkaâ€. We would tell our mother “ Hooyo “akhwaanu muslimiinka baan lasoo ciyaaraynaa wiilashoodaâ€. Subhanalaah! as if they were different sect, just cause the whole society didn’t inspire the Islamic teachings fully. Same of these Culama’s went to Somali last year, and they went from hargaisa to Kismayo, they have discovered and amazing revitalization of Diin. One of them said they where giving a “Qudba†to a high school in Xamar last year, with student faculty of about 1,200 students, half of the students where girls and he said almost every girl there wore her Islamic attire. While Qabiil still lives and thrives, Allah(sw)’s Diin has never been more studied or lived by the daily lives of Somalis every where. You can even notice the difference these Heroes had on our local communities and how their impact is felt right down to your neighbourhood, With these times of doom and gloom for our nation we sure are lucky and privileged to have them. May Allah reward these Culama!….Aamiin Salaam! Later
  7. I agree, it sounds like an other culture But if you really want marriage that doesn't drift or have up-and-down slopes regardless of income or the live style of the couple. Plz make sure that its solely Baised on Islam, as long as the couple strive to increase their Imaan consistently, there won't be a need to revive their love life in marriage, cause the only thing that gets married Muslim couple close to each other is their sincere believe in Allah(sw) and the Prophet(cs) NGONGE "codes, signs, signals and stuck out tongues" ahem..Ahem..have sister available....JOKE But, you gained a fan in me from now on you be watched on what you say..give us(Bachelors) tips and tricks we could use...will you? 9. dawoco if you feel I have brushed off ladies and reduced my arguments validity, I take your point with stride sista…but I stand what I said. Very interesting story there, it got me laughing laakiin on the bottom you wrote: “It is the man's fault that the wedding didn't happen who is he to dictate that the woman's mother gets another house, gumeeysi badanaa ma hitler baa wax u galeen …..†Are you revealing same thing here?, hmmm..i am thinking its you that this happen to yaah…hooyo hurigeedi aa wali ka xuntahay miyaa?….But I wanna share an equally interesting true story with you. I was travelling with a Somali sheik year & half ago out of Toronto, as we where talking about the subject of “nikaaxâ€. He told us that he was doing a “Nikaax†at a Somali wedding in Toronto, and the girl asked $51,000, the sheik was caught off guard by how large the figure was but what got him interested was the extra $1000, he though the figure should at least been an even. So, he asked her why not just $50,000, and to his amusement she said “$50,000 reerahaygaan wax ugu qabanayaa, laakiin $1,000 anigaa iska lehâ€. BULO No I wouldn't, civil war and what destroyed Somalia was Somali man’s doings alone and Somali woman where the victims, and I don’t subscribe to Man Vs Woman Ideology, you right no one forced men to wear Tuxedo, but the issue is who wants these type of “kaafir†weddings?. Ps. Moti and I don’t share family lineage, he is as close as you are to me relative wise, But if our thoughts cross path I’ll be honour to be his pr.
  10. The Rendezvous Great work! …This is more then research…seems like a passion nevertheless you are expert of women’s rights. If Islam was followed properly though out the world there wouldn’t be a need for all of these worthless and irrelevant organizations concerning woman.
  11. Macalimuu, Brother! Amazing story, yes its the poison of tribalism changes good and decent people like you to see the world I a negative way. Its just a snapshot why we are different from other people on this earth for the wrong reasons. Glad you move on Bro!..like you should.
  12. I am being sincerity….there is “Calafâ€, no matter if you gotta Mongolia in western china to find wife/husband, if Allah(sw) has a different Qadar for you right here in the heart of N-America, you’ll came back in hurry and establish what Allah(sw) intended for you, that is fact. But, ladies here is my Question if you are Pious ambitions, Muslimah, and educated why you care if there is the trend or not?. The Ladies in Syria or where every else can’t came close to you. Then why the hostility towards my article of just stating this trend that we all know exists. Sophist “You should aspire to marry a lady who is not only worthy of you, but indeed better--†– sxb very wise man baa ku dhalay..masha’allah Nomadic_Princess I agree with you on the important role Somali woman have played and I thank Somali mother’s hardship times they have stood by us. No one can even deny that, And that is not even the topic. You said: same people believe " Men are more intelligent then women". Any man who marries a woman with that mentality, is actually ****** himself…cause she is gona raise his daughters believing that they aren’t as smart as a men. On your last Question, yes it will be a shame but I doubt all Somali men are booking flights and sending “nikaax†to oversees. But I am acknowledging this new and rising trend. I my self opted here, with educated contender here and about the competition the score is even 0 – 0,…no one has scored yet! J Modesty “Caveman that is Good for the Guys! I'm seeking a guy ABROAD myself too!†loolz…good one there, see choices, diversity and looking every option works. OG_MOTI Again honesty doesn’t have a barrier,…but Pretty quickly I am getting bad rep…here….soon I am gonna write real nasty article about Farahs(us)..hopefully this hostility will die down then…J
  13. Femme_Fatale Lolz..fine deal… Hafsa I really appreciate ur thoughtfulness My Allah(sw) reward you!… OG_MOTI One again thnx sxb,,,, Section6er You said “Did you actually go and do research on wedding celebrations and divorce rates to come to that conclusion?†I stated 2 verses from the Quran and 2 hadiths on going against Allah(sw) and Prophet (sw). and if same one says I am true believing Muslim and getting married like a “kaafir†you don’t consider that a hypocrisy. If you need more prove then that,…you right I can’t. and you also said “my parents generation rocking the Black and White attire†Your parents actually married on this way?….my parents and the overwhelming Somali parents getting white gown and black suite was alien idea.
  14. Besbaaso, Excellent point…no forum fighting with that kinda reply from me even when its done forcefully as you have…nevertheless you on point and its well taken! Totti…lolz.. good point sxb OG_MOTI There is honest man in you sxb…other guys here are just WARNING! Me of the heat I unleashed here…..Syriayaa hada shidan miyaa sxb? Salaam!
  15. Raula…sista…I am surprised you read the piece I wrote above and you came out with the though of me being part of Ideologs of men who feed the world with more of "INTERNALIZED RACISM". I never said woman should sit at home and be that stereotypically weak and submissive. Or even the Topic here is not about woman’s place in marriage and what she is expected of her. And guess what its not only common to our community, I know an Iranian and Nigerian guys who I worked in Atlanta, both went back to their respective countries to get married. I didn’t even shared my thoughts on this, I merely acknowledge the trend and asked why?. YACQUUB sxb thanks for the WARNING! Raula wrote: “What the hell do you think...we choose our destinyâ€. I hope she is not affiliated with that ‘Freedom for Somali Woman’s Party’ if she is, Hope that she is the CEO, cuz if their leaders are yet to came I am dead man.
  16. Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Dubai, Syria, etc…this trend has been going on for a while, but now its has became the norm lately here in N-America. Most college and university educated guys seeking life partners over there with Somali ladies with different life style and background. Its said intelligent man marry his mother, in sense a woman that reminds him of growing up on her patient, tolerance. Its customary for Somalis to hold at most honour and prestige for the qualities of wife and “marwoâ€, Our Prophet(pbh) said it best in a Hadith. 'Abdullah b. Amr reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman. There it is, “THE GOOD OF THIS WORLD IS THE PIOUS WOMANâ€. And it’s been like that since the beginning of human history. What gave man the most grieve in this world is woman and what gave him the most pleasure is also a woman. You can even notice this at your local community, any married man at your area with a pious wife, you can notice from his demeanour, his calm his rationale and reasoning and how he rushing home every chance he gets. Most guys started establishing contacts abroad before they where doing their last year in school and same times travel abroad before they start their first jobs. I asked why to a friend of mine who opted for this oversees approach, he said to me sxb “my wife is a partner, not a competitor in this hassling and wheeling World, and that is what I neededâ€. So, most of these Bachelors trade potential ladies with their level of education and understanding, to ladies with different backgrounds then they are. Trust me I know there is plenty of qualified and capable ladies here in N-America. But, with this new trend could the fundamental reasoning be that qualified “marwo’s†are few or could it be they are not happy with the potential life partner here?.
  17. This is continuation of “Woman†article, didn’t want to prolong that topic so I have instead created a response as a separate. Since my article itself is long. Plz bare with me .J OG_MOTI Brother simply stated few findings by an international organization, which was a broad research for all humans. Say, you gota majority of Somali wedding these days the first thing you noticed is the how deep we went into western believes and value’s, and we have only been on western soil fewer then 2 decades. If u hear two individual that u personally know are getting married in this month chances are there is two other individuals that u also know that are divorcing. If you want a built a great tree at your back yard, you don’t take a seed and just plant right at your back yard hoping it will grow to a tree that lasts life time. For that tree to thrive in your back yard, you have to make sure the ground is fertile to that particular tree. So, imagine this is just planting a great tree that lasts a life time, but think of planting marriage which in Islam is 50% of our faith. When you gota today’s Somali wedding, we don’t witness any thing even resembles building of 50% of Islam. For same reason overwhelming Somali ladies demand and get this type of wedding, you know white gown for the bride and black suite for the farah. Since we only seen western societies get married in these symbols “white gown & black suit. Brother & sisters please know this is not even from western culture. There is different between culture and religion. Jeans, trousers, shirts dresses, etc are all from western culture and are not symbols of their faith but “white gown & black suit†at your wedding are strictly from pre-middle age Christian believe. How it pretty long history and u can research your own but, the first lady who ever wore the white gown was Anne of Brittany's at her wedding to Louis XII, in 1499 at Nantes, in what is today know as France. Before her Romans used to get married garments they called “Sunday’s bestâ€. Which was basically wearing any thing they looked good at Sundays church. Anne of Brittany's was a church lady and a deeply religious, Anne of Brittany's came to England since UK’s Kingdom was gaining influence in the world and encouraged Queen Victoria's wedding to Henry V to wear the “white gown & black suitâ€, and Queen Victoria started the trend that many women follow today. Where did Anne of Brittany's got the idea of “white gown & black suitâ€, since she lived in the middle ages of the Romans. Romans at the time believed different gods for different occasions like the Hindus do today. Christianity wasn’t a Monotheistic religion at that time as it is today, they there was God of rain, God of light, God purity, God of fertility and so on. So Anne of Brittany as a church lady wanted her wedding to resemble as a church-lady and Gods she believed in. So lets see how these symbols of today weddings are deeply rooted into the Christian traditions and Roman mythical believes. White gown. God of Fertility was most pleased with the white garments and it’s a tradition symbolized by this God in fidelity and eternal love. Later it was added that White colour was associated with the Virgin Mary and thus symbolic of the bride's purity. The Tiara Headpiece (Or Tajj) This is piece of cloth that rubs around brides heads same have veil instead. Same are long as 2 feet, the Romans believed God of Fertility had angels around him wearing piece of white cloth on their heads for purity and to make the bride to appear as angel. Black suit (groom) Since Romans where mystical believers and it was at the end of dark ages the colour black was believed to have powers of evil protections. And since the bride wore all white dress and Tiara to resample an Angel, Anne of Brittany insisted her husband (king Louis XII) wore black to protect her from evil eyes. THE BEST MAN It is the best man's duty to protect the groom from bad luck. He must ensure that once the groom has began his journey to the church he does not return for any reason. His whole Job was to make sure the groom gets to church and doesn’t change his mind. THE HONEYMOON The term "honeymoon" is though to originate from the times when a Roman man captured his bride. The couple would hide from the bride's parents before marrying. The couple would remain in hiding for a further cycle of the moon after the wedding. During this period they drank honey wine. BOUQUET After the reception the bride throws her bouquet back over her shoulder where the unmarried female guest group together. Roman Tradition holds that the one who catches the bouquet will be the next one of those present to marry. THE WEDDING CAKE Cutting the wedding cake is now part of the ritual celebrations at the reception. The couple make the first cut together to symbolize their shared future. Cakes have been associated with weddings throughout history. The Romans shared a cake during the wedding ceremony itself. This was not the rich fruitcake we enjoy today. Now, back to our wedding these days, if you gota any Somali wedding this weekend. The Majority of them are done exactly as would Anne of Brittany would have envisioned in the name of “ilbaxnimo†we took her ideas and added few and subtracted few things. Just before start of the big party, the DJ hands the Mic over to the Sheik, “hadana ku soo dhawaada ayaayado quran ah iyo duco†Subxana’ laah. The guy does the honour thing and hands over the mic to the DJ. Well we all know the rest don’t we, the singer does his thing every one gets involve and its all now grooving and partying from here on out. The groom & bride do their part and shake their “Tushiesâ€. Oh and at the very end. We added sort of desert called “Niiko†where all the see-through dirac girls practically get down & dirty and same guys join them. Its off that all famous song now “aamiin aamiin Allahayoow†to send them off to their ever happy marriage life, Oops or is’t every happy my friends very few Somali weddings that start this way even get pass the 2 year mark. Does these weddings even seem they are about to spearhead “the†biggest life change in their life or does it even occurred to us that, there could be grave consequence in starting like the “kaafirâ€. Are we mocking Allah and his religion? We bring same guy to recite few “ducaâ€, and then party like kaafirs,. Or we have become hypocrites. Technically there isn’t any difference DJ at the club handing the mic to same one to recite Quran and duca then every one at the dance floor. This is what the Quran said about those types of people. “The hypocrites, men and women, (have an understanding) with each other: They enjoin evil, and forbid what is just, and are close with their hands. They have forgotten Allah. so He hath forgotten them. Verily the hypocrites are rebellious and perverseâ€. (Chapter #9, Verse #67). And here is a verse on going against the all mighty allah(sw). “This because they contended against allah and His Messenger. If any contend against allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishmentâ€. (Chapter #8, Verse #13) Punishment for us is divorce and family destruction, guys make your testing ground for her and her family, trust me if the lady says to you brother I don’t want any “kaafir†type wedding, then ask what her family wants if they conquer with her, sxb you got good woman and good in-laws, ee yay kaa fakanin taas. To the contrary if she wants Anne of Brittany type wedding sxb run for your life, I know most guys who do it mainly to get it over it and get that marriage life but trust me. Its your life too sxb and u gona regret not too distance future and all the expenses you went through. So, please this is not my part to bash Somali ladies but it’s a fact that every living Somali knows these days, that Somali ladies are the main reason our wedding has became “kaafir†type, and they are in my judgement responsible of the out come. And guess what ladies party at wedding is allowed, like the one our parent did back home its no wonder divorce wasn’t prevalent in their times. What is allowed is this… FIRST: On the authority of Ar-Rubai' bint Mu'awwadh, who said: "The Prophet (sas) entered my house after my wedding night, and sat on my mat as close as you are now sitting to me (the address here is to the one who narrated the hadith from her). Then, some servant girls of ours began beating on the duff and singing about our ancestors who were killed at the battle of Badr. Then one of them said: "And among us is a prophet who knows what tomorrow will bring." The Prophet (sas) said to her: "Leave this and go back to what you were saying before it." SECOND: On the authority of Aisha, that she took a woman to her husband, a man among the Ansaar. The Prophet (sas) said to her: "O Aisha did you not have any singing (lit: frivolity) with your procession? Verily the Ansaar love such things." In another version of this hadith, the Prophet (sas) is reported to have said: "Did you send a servant girl along with her to beat the duff and sing?" ... What we gain from these hadiths and other’s like them is that having fun is OKAY at the wedding, take musical instrument dance ladies and sing, but do it separately so “shaydaan†wouldn’t get involve like the “Kaafir†type weddings. As Value system For the guys can you imagine after you threw that “kaafir†wedding Jam she wanted to make your lady “happyâ€, and you know the reason these girls want is that cassette tape. Say Allah (sw) blesses you with a daughter, and she reaches the age of 5 or 6 and your marriage lasts that long. We know how smart little girls at that age are, say you pop that wedding tape on your DVD player for her to watch her parents wedding night. Little girl goes Ooh “aabo†you and “hooyo†look so cute dancing ….and you tell her yea “aabo†see at the end that girl shaking her thing at the “niiko†contest is “habaryar batuuloâ€. And little girl goes “aabo cute waayeâ€, and all this education for your little girl, as smart as she is she ask the big Question. Aaabo…why “adi iyo hooyo dhar kaan u qabtaan?†, maxaa hooyo madaxa u saran? Dharkaadu maxay u madow yihiin? Hooyo kuweeduna u cad yihiin?. Ooops is’t sad your own daughter questioning your value and believes. Then you might answer honestly and tell her its strictly from christain believe or you might be act as vague and say “aabo arooskastaa laga xirtaa dharkaan†in any case you forever ingrained her wedding night. Sorry, my article had to be as long but OG_MOTI said few facts from UNDP report, but items of our community yes ladies are the majority who demand this type of “Kaafir†wedding and they must except the fruits of their seeds. Oh since I am a new member, no “Caytan†please constructive criticisms is welcome.

  21. The hallmark of Real Journalists is fairness, to serve the powerless and annoy the powerful, and eye to the social conscience of the community they serve. For Somali BBC, forget about fairness and serving the powerless, but they also lost in touch in terms of social consciousness of the very Somali community they claim to serve. Just last week they had a whole segment of the Michael Jackson Debacle, I mean how does a Somali person in Diaspora trying to make ends meet or the Nomad in cities and town of war ravaged Country benefit from Michael Jackson molesting little kids. This was their latest nonsense-and-fill the time slot story, as if the Somali Nation they pretend to serve doesn’t have major issues. The best definition I’d ever heard of Journalism was, “Journalism is about monitoring the sources of power.” yet, one of the last interview I’ have heard from BBC to one of those despot blood-thrust savages went like this, BBC-Reporter" Oo Mudane-X, waxaa nasoo gaartay in ay Ethiopia kugu deeqday hub tiro badan, marka goorma ayaa laga yaabaa in uu hubkaas kusoo gaaro. Maxayna dowlada Ethiopia kaa rajaynaysaa in aad u qabatid, madaama ay kugu deeqday hubkaas tirida badan.?" Hmmmm....can the standard of journalism get any lower at Somali BBC. How about asking “Mudane-X, how much bloodshed is enough?, how many lives have you destroyed while you are blinded by your own personal power.? And how were you able to save your own family, from the horrific carnage you put through other innocent Somalis either fighting for you or dying because of you.? Unless you spent last 14 years under a cave, you wouldn’t know if that BBC questioner is intervening heartless warlord or a fair-minded leader with respectable principle. Yet, that is the statuesque the Somali people expect from BBC. Noticed the prefix: “Mudane-X, Its part of BBC tactic to legitimize these feeble minded cowards to a status they don’t deserve by referring them “Mudane”, “General”, “Dr”, “Xaaji”. Its my believe that these so called Somali BBC reports (wariyeyaal) are preoccupied with developing their pockets and keeping their daily jobs. Then being responsible Journalism of actually pursuing the truth with single-mindlessness, and revealing unpopular truths others have ignored, avoided, or simply did not see. So, on the process of neglecting their Sole audience (Somali public through out the World) they have helped instilled sense of backwardness to the Somali people every where. Somali BBC reports have only contributed the never-ending cycle of chaos and carnage in Somali. Since BBC Somali has miserably failed serving the public accurately, its equally tragic that there isn’t alternative voice. I urge my fellow nomads to listen other BBC programs in wide ranges of languages that are offered at BBC and compare that to the insurmountable difference of Somali-BBC discourse. I am not on a crusade against Somali-BBC, but as a young Nomad majoring Journalism I believe Somali BBC is deeply flawed as a profession and helped prolong the senseless civil war. make your self be heard at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/somali/index.shtml
  22. Bari_Nomad, Sxb thank you very much, I personally appreciate you taking the time to update us this Nobel man's Travel.
  23. I see this discussion is got every one interested! I read the entire thread and every reply, and I noticed words like “opinionated” , “achievements” and “well educated and very ambitious”... But why don’t we praise and honor the ladies who are high achieving in the Muslim faith. Why do we consider (man / woman) has reached success due to the worldly achievements of our limited human intelligence. But, I am curious since we (Muslims) live an era where our faith is Questioned, A time when every Muslim on earth is under suspicious, and under pressure to emulate and imitate the values and teaching of non Muslims. Since, these worldly knowledge’s are temporary, why not we admire ladies that are ambitious in Islam and not the once that value degree’s that were instituted by other humans to measure one’s success. To me no degree from Harvard can’t equate, the depth of knowledge that Somali sister who practices with Imam in her faith. Think about the difference she’ll make in your life and the life of your family and the value system she’ll install them. @Barwaaqo commented higher degree being "Piece of paper" used as a tool. Couldn’t agree more, the concept of getting a College Degree is no difference then driving better Car, after all Car is a tool. I rather have sister who has the wisdom & knowledge in Islam intimidate me then sister who is got degree papers hanging on her walls. Salaam!
  24. Yea, little bit long but truly worth the time, great research sxb…
  25. @AYOUB You said Qabil could be used “Positively” And you presented these two examples 1- Digging well for a village 2- And stopping bad deeds through the good of Clanism. Those examples u listed and countess other tasks can be accomplished by creating rule of Law or better yet following the teachings of Islam. Personally, I have yet to see a single good thing that came out in the name of “Qabiil”. But doing good deeds using Clan affiliation is nothing more then a throwback to medieval times as we have seen so far. Seems like same of us still see the world only through the thin hierarchy that their “Qabiil” provides. All the lessons we needs is to learn how “Qabiil” was used in the History of Somalia, victimizing, raping and torturing entire communities not because they committed a sin, but our society has imparked path of divisive and destructive Clan kingship bases to judge who is good and who is evil. Seems like we have long way to go since decade and so of anarchy we still associate more with clan than country. Same of us even associate with Clan more than we do on religion. As the girl above thread has said, we need to educate each other, in order for us to alleviate ourselves from this dark age we are in. As of today armed warlords rule by brute force, they don’t even use bogus credentials of Doctors and scientists to manipulate the mass, but they use same thing as primitive as “Qabiil”, the rest of Somalis let them, yes we let them. Other wise, they wouldn’t be able to deceive an entire Nation this long. Obviously large group of us agree with their uncontested views of how a society should be govern. You said “I wish all the Qabaail well and mine just a bit better”…..I hope u where joking.
