  1. Originally posted by Thankful: Ngonge said this: SOL quote: In admitting to be a member of Al Shabab he said something along the lines of "We are Al Shabab and Al Shabab are us". You consider this a clear and unambiguous admittance but I think it is still a vague statement (when one considers the question he was being asked or the way they led up to the question). The man's position seemed to be that all "Mujahideen" are the same. The key to it is "I think", which means it's his opinion. So, what I am saying is that others may have another opinion on it. I personally think if you say a group is your brothers and that we are them and they are you, it is pretty clear! But again, others will interpret it themselves! Regardless, this article on Dhahar tries to hide the interview by making no mention of it. Which is unacceptable! It is not an opinion, saaxib. It is an educated guess. It was doubly confirmed in Atam's second interview. However, despite all of that, I still wouldn't put it past him if he came out later and declared that he is indeed a member of Al Shabab. Somali poltics, don't you just love it? P.S. You are right about me having issues with PL. I don't like their 'neither here nor there' position (one that A&T is now trying to sell to his own kin).
  2. ^^ Hodgson is playing all the young guys in the pre season games (had a fifteen year old and a sixteen year old playing in last night's game). Joe Cole didn't set the world alight. Aquilani looks fit. The new Serb guy looks ok but nothing special so far. The defence looks solid. Lucas is going to have one hell of a season this year (mark my words). P.S. Did you hear about the Chinese offer for the club? Moh leh neh (don't google these words).

But I will oblige your question and address it briefly. A Somali nationalist is someone who sees himself as a somali first, and as a Somali second. It is not someone who thinks what is happening in Muqdisho is a world away from what is happening in Garowe, in Hargeisa, or Garissa. It is someone for whom the boundaries melt when it comes to the pains a Somali is under-going is concerned. It is someone who could emphatise with the SNM when their community were under oppression, but say no to their expansionist and hegemonic moves in SSC when they try to use victim-mentality to victimize others. For now, this thread is about changing what I see as a dangerous trend among ONLF-ites. It is a call for change of direction. Chief Caqil, I can prove to you that rebranding the ONLF will not change much in terms of support from other clans in the region. I have discussed this at length in the past. I am familiar to what is happening on the ground. But it will serve other purposes, such as undressing the falsehoods of those who fear struggle and use ONLF shortcomings as a cover for their cowardice. But that is another discussion which I may elaborate on at one point. All good and well. Now can you answer the question I asked you please.
  4. Hunguri, Dabshid and Jacaylbaro? Sounds like the first line of a joke. Morning all. Juxa, you decided to do it yourself? I hope you don't bill her for your efforts.
  5. ^^ What is a "Somali nationalist"? I am asking you and not the dreamers that hail from Somalia and hark back to a bygone age. In your case, there is no bygone age, so what is this idea of a "Somali nationalist" that you seem to have and will the rest of Somalia allow you to become one?
  6. ^^ Did you watch our Europa game the other day. NGOG is the in-form striker in the English league this season (top with two). Captain Lucas set him up with the first goal. I think Hodgson finally saw what many didn't see and has made Lucas his captain in every game so far (even though, Agger, Aquillani, Skertel and the Greek guy all played). To hell with Stevie G, keep Lucas captain. In addition, now that Carlsberg are gone there is none of that 'probably' nonsense. The curse has been lifted. I expect a good season ahead.
  7. Originally posted by Haatu: Another stup!d flag and another nonexistent entity. It wasn't a real flag to be honest. It was a homemade one and I even suspect no proper pen was used to draw it. LST, I was with Riyaale and I remain so, saaxib. The farxaad most people here mistake for a Siilaanyo support has more to do with the beautiful transfer of power than a Siilaany win. I've already had the 'clan is everything' discussion with Xiin a while back and explained why I never wanted Siilaanyo to win power. Now every mistake this man makes will be one that me and my sons will have to account for. Arr Riyaale may nago cilyaan.
  8. Originally posted by Nassir: Awdiles must demonstrate principles of Somaliway unity consistenly. They can't drift back and forth based on some power sharing system from an unrecognized state. Duke would say this statement applies to your people too when it coms to PL. What reply would you give him? Miya la iska hadlayaa saaxib just because a couple of ladies and some kids came out in a little demo? Awdal (if you hadn't noticed) took full part in the elections. If tiny demos mean breaking away from SL then those old ladies demonstrating in Hargeisa also want to break away. Dee naga daaya.

  10. ^^ Sheh, she loves the poor man and is trying to convince her father that he's the one for her. Malika would understand. Malika was raised on Tarabu music.
  11. ^^ What are these certain "idiologies", Dr Samuel Beckett?
  12. ^^ Dee ilbaxnimadaad khalad of fahanteen. ilbaxnimado surwaal iyo shaadh maaha, baaket sigaar maaha, euro iyo dollar maaha, xarrago iyo jikaar maaha. ilbaxnimado waa celmi, xikmad iyo afkaar. (the above will be part of my upcomign rap album).
  13. ^^ Adigu waan kugo ogaa, lakin inta kale ma wada reer badiyo too? Where is nuune when you need him?
  14. Originally posted by AfricaOwn: quote:Originally posted by N.O.R.F: Ah, Africaown. How was your trip? Did you finally see SL through the eyes of the people? I have an excuse to defend the govnt. They have been in power all 2 days You act as if you got something on me? Air it out The NG's and yourself is what I call a $%$#@. Your uncle reputation doesn't look. Why don't you list down all the accomplishments, the "change" you wanted to see happen to prove us wrong. Adeer i daa dee. Norf has time for your type of "debate" (or is it banter?). Last time you and I crossed paths you moaned about me being an old man and, therefore, I promised to leave you alone. I kept my promise. Hadaba iga xishoo adeer oo orod yaryarka aad isku da'da tehiin la muran.
  15. Originally posted by N.O.R.F: You can't please all the people all the time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The days of 'we are not represented' are over. They should complain if the govnt doesn't improve things rather than throw toys out on day 1. It is best that they complain loudly than quietly letting their resentment fester. And anyway, this is a new democratic government where complaints and demonstrations are tolerated. In fact, some would say, the people are only following the example Siilaanyo set. I have no complaints.
  16. This is where I revel in being a total sexist. Qolada "I played for the school team" ba meeshan isu timid. Waliba Bob iyo Tujiye way ka gurayaan! By the way, A&T was a good player in his younger ONLF operative days. Legend has it that he used to play with live hand grenades (with the safety off). His nickname was 'explosive volley' but he had to quit when the leadership did an investigation about ammunition wastage. What, you don't beleive it? But you believe the school stories, huh? War kubbada barta.
  17. Nodoby like my romantic poem? Khasaaro!
  18. ^^ War wa maxay hadalkan badan, showaya showya, A&T yaanu ku gaadin. The problem here is Faroole, only Faroole and nothing but Faroole. The man is like a cancer that spreads all over the body and causes all manner of aches and pains. Do a SOL search on his name and view the topics that talk about him. The earliest one is about him being sacked as a minster and (allegedly) organising an attack on the parliament and presidential palace. Another one is about the PL elections and how he was never likely to make it as president because of his corruption and bad reputation. Another is about his spat with Amin Amir and the issue of the fake printed money. Another is about the PIS. Another is about his threat that PL will secede as a result of the Djibouti agreement. Another is about him blaming the internal refugees for the trouble in Bosaso. Another is about his interference with the SSC garads. Another is about the ONFL extraordinary rendition. Another is about his alleged links with the pirates. Another is about him giving his son a job as an adviser. Another is about the SSC people asking him to stay out of their business. Another is about him deporting some southernes from PL. And finally, this one is about Atam and Atam's clan. Your mountain goat might not be the most innocent of men but with Faroole's track record one is forced to give Atam the benefit of the doubt here.
  19. ^^ Ma argtay Maaddeey wuxuu yedhi? He thinks we're meeting in a pub! Lets see if he has any excuses now (teaching old ladies Arabic on Sundays or something).
  20. Blue Ocean between five to six on Sunday.
  21. This was not worth a thread of its own.
  22. ^^ We should have organised it when you were here really. But these guys probably don't like you. Haatu, inadeerka maxa iga galay. I am inviting you here. Don't worry, we will reserve you the chair nearest to the door.
  23. ^^ Badow! Kii diyaaraddii xambaaray oo ilaa bartanka hargeysa dhigay Siilaanyoo aha. Kan caruurta Somaliland ka dhadhiciyay, isla Siilaanyoo ahaa. On this point and in this area I am much closer to the source than the guru and have seen it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears. Muranka jooji warya.

  25. It's a short Arabic 'Mawaal' (a sort of short love poem) about a girl talking to her father. It goes something like: The girl told her father, three men asked for my hand, and more The first is rich, and more The second is handsome, and more The third if poor, and more Her father said, the rich one will make you rich, and more The handsome one, will make you pretty, and more The poor one, will make you poorer, and more The girl replied, o father you don't know men, and more The rich one will marry (on me) three others, and more The handsome one will be loved by ten women, and more But the poor one will stay with me for life, and more..
