wyre;839320 wrote: If Someone Aproachs You And Ask You Proof Your Manhood What Will Be Your Answer? Please Mind Your Manners, Post Clean Or Don't You Post Anything... Heh. I don't know if I told this story before but in the days when my Somali was as bad as banana with rice, I was walking down the street with a mate of mine when some strange looking Somali guy (who obviously was on his way home from the mafrash) approached us and walked right into my face! He then took a step back and said "Nin baan ku mooday!". Trust me, if my friend didn't quickly pull me off him, I would have proved to him that I was a man. (yes, yes, I realise what he meant, NOW).

The above title should be the motto of all Somalis. It is what we live for and how we conduct our daily affairs. So when you ask Cabdi why did he decide to open a coffee shop across the street from Faarax despite the fact that Cumar already beat him to it by opening one next door, his reply should be “It seemed like a good idea at the time”. When you ask Laila why did she ruin her face by applying bleaching cream even though she’s seen what such creams did to Sucaad’s face, her reply should be “It seemed like a good idea at the time”. When you ask Sheikh Cali, why did he collect money for Al Shabab even though he already saw what similar groups did to Afghanistan and Iraq, his reply should be “It seemed like a good idea at the time”. When you ask old Somali ladies, why did they use to wear short skirts and have their hair out , their reply should be “It seemed like a good idea at the time”. When you ask people why they used to have mixed weddings and now most don’t, their reply should be “It seemed like a good idea at the time”. When you ask an arrested pirate, why did you get into that sordid business, his reply should be “...........” This thread was inspired by Juxa’s rant against parents in the Dhaqan Celis thread (http://www.somaliaonline.com/community/showthread.php/65513-Channel-4-British-Somalis-are-sending-their-children-back-to-Africa-(dhaqan-celis)) I’m not sure if you got the point of this thread but, err, it seemed like a good idea at the time. (Could YOU think of anything that seemed like a good idea at the time?)

^^ I simply quoted you, saaxib. Now read the passage you posted again and tell me what you smell.

Pizza for breakfast, you slob? It's one in the afternoon. (wa caleekom al salaam wrawb)

Heh@Ibti..at least you didn't lose your touch and are still keeping your 'islaan' tendencies sharp (don't you miss your aunt?).

^^ Fair enough, I shall take my argument/isbaaro elsewhere. No hard feelings warya.

Err.. Addis Ababa is reported to be afraid that if they became hegemonic in the south, they could form an independent "Jubaland" state , using the lucrative Kismaayo port trade to raise resources to sponsor the secession of the **** province of Ethiopia.

^^ It's Coofle, not Cawaale ya tacbaan. I shall watch the video when I get home. I can see from Wiil's comment that they're Arabs who were asked for their mother's name. Did anyone get hit? :D

Yes, Blessed. I don't know why but it's not a nice question to answer. Wyre, I can't see youtube videos at work. Is this worth watching when I get home? (who are my cousins? Arabs? ).

Heh. Reminds me of the silly man that asked a wadaad; "wadaad, hadaan falasteen xurayno, dumarkooda ma la siixan karna?" The angry wadaad replied "hadaad falasteen xuraysid, anigaad ila siixan karta".

Yes Juxa and I often see your picture on the right hand side with the question "do you know Juxa?" but I ignore it and say to myself "kolay iyada na waa la waydiiyay 'do you know NGONGE' and she ignored it. Anigo ma jaariyada i dhashay?".

Every time I log into FB, I find endless notifications from friends, cousins and acquaintances with almost all of them full of junk quotations from various authors, celebrities or philosophers. I never used to mind such sayings or stories in the past (Aesop’s fables and all that) but, I’m not sure if it is age that made me cranky or was it the overexposure to this nonsense. Anyway, I have decided to write my own story and share it in FB . Here goes: NIN XUN! It is said in the old folktales (or waxa la yedhi, in our own tongue) that there once lived a man who had a dreadful habit of disparaging everything. When commenting on the food he just ate he would be heard saying “cunto xun baan cunay” When talking about his place of work he would often say “meel xun baan ka shaqeeya” The middle of his winter would always contain “dhaxan xun”, the height of his summer “qurrax xun” When the people got fed up with his endless carping, they nicknamed him “NIN XUN”! On the day of his wedding, a passerby asked the family of the bride who they were giving their daughter to, “NIN XUN” they all replied. As the years passed and he had a troop of children, an old man asked them whose children they were; “NIN XUN” they all screamed. Finally, came the inevitable day most of us dread and the man passed away! An old lady watching the funeral procession asked them “who died?” they all replied........ Can you guess the profound moral of this story? p.s. I wrote the whole thing in Somali but some 'nin xun' put me off posting it.

Juxa, you know and I know that Sayid is talking total sense. Beating someone up in retaliation is ugly and uncivilised but it is something that also takes place in this crazy world we live in. Lets just hope it takes place somewhere near the face of that guy (though of course, you as a lawyer and me as an unashmed liberal, do not at all condone such a thing).

Sayid*Somal;839201 wrote: I agree with you saxiib - but the fact the police were called and they came to arrest the guy shows that there is system there at least event though it may not be perfect. Plus the other measures of him been banned from working in that Hostpital. Don't abandon your box yet - work with the system and changed it for the best - as Ibti is doing (i hope) Edit - Dumaashi - don't be disappointed with me - i agree the guy should be punished accord to our laws and customs - i don't agree with jungle justice and luckily neither does Ibti. War Ibti waa qac dee. She's such a workaholic that I bet you she does not remember what colour hijab she has on her head right now. Of course, in all seriousness, the offer to beat the guy up was a spur of the moment thing and came out of total annoyance at this fool daring to raise his hand to a woman but, had she egged me on and said "beat him beat him", I probably would have sobred up and suggested we think this thing through first (no out of fulaynimo, you understand). p.s. How could I work from the inside when I'm in far off London? All I do is pepper the ears of those that support the Kulmiye government with endless rants about the poor Oromos (it starts there you see).
-
^^ I am one of those simpeltons and I strongly reject the accusation that I can't see beyond my own nose; I see Ibti's bloody one warya. If only SL had a proper justice system no anger would have taken place, women beaters are the only guys that get me to abandon my soap box and feel like scuffling.
-
Carafaat, many people will miss your thread because of the silly title. Shame on you warya. As for the topic; the awful Kulmiye government strikes again! Had the man written a poem instead of a book, would they have arrested him? Surely, if he be a criminal then every last SL poet (dead or alive) who wrote poems disparging other clans or people should also be regarded as a criminal. With every passing day I dislike this Kulmiye government more and more.
