  1. When did the troll section turn into lover's lane? CL would be rolling in her tent with disgust at what's taking place in her thread. Morning. First in, again.
  2. ^^ Because Spain did not play as well as they did last night. Italy were more convincing (up to last night).
  3. Aid Worders? Nacala hay'adahan xunxun; balan uun ayaay kuu qaadaan.
  4. As much as the Italians tried to compete it was never going to happen against such an inspired Spanish team. It was a good game until Mota got injured. p.s. Loving the way Norf is emptying his pockets there and trying to "show us the money" :D
  5. I will not talk of this, I will not talk of that and I will not discuss this or discuss that. Adeer waa yeelkadaa dee; it's not a job interview. But, you know what, I am finally glad to welcome someone new on this site (someone that wet behind the ears can't be anything but new). We haven't had one for years. Welcome warya.
  6. In other news, Rodney King died recently.

Err..I did say England will be boring because of Hodgson's choice of system. I also did say that they'll beat both Sweden and Ukraine (which they did) and was telling you that they'll never beat Italy. Are you mistaking me with Norf, warya? As if I'd ever say an England managed by Hodgson would do wonders. Bax warya!
  10. Guru, ma waxaan ka hadlayna wax jira mise xamasada aan SOL ka baranay? I have read your objections to these talks (along with those of our errant historian - Adan Jugle) but, like the fairy tales that Xiin often writes on this site, I have yet to see any tangible and proper argument to refute. Your entire premise rests on the fact that the southern politicians are not to be trusted (scheming, conniving, devious, etc), however, with respect of course, do you not think that Siilaanyo and his government are not aware of that? Better still, do you believe that Riyaale & Waraabe are not? Why is it that only you and the errant historian are the only ones who can see the light but the rest of Somalilanders are blind or unaware? For over twenty years, Somaliland has attempted to engage with the International Community and convince them of the case for recognition. There has been some success in receiving sympathetic acknowledgments (not recognition) from countries such as the USA, Ghana, South Africa and the UK but many others in the world were either opposed to the idea of an independent Somaliland or not even aware of it. Attending the London Conference allowed SL to present its case to a wider audience in an internationally organised conference. It gave the Siilaanyo government the opportunity to sell their project to the world and display SL as a democratic, peaceful and progressive country that is willing to work with anyone (up to and including Somalia). Attending the Istanbul conference cemented this reputation and showed the maturity of SL (as opposed to the squabbling spoilers of the south). Now came the talks. Again, those representing SL have shouted into any microphone that was thrust into their faces that SL is an independent, democratic and separate nation from the one that is Somalia. Of course, you may argue that SL has been doing that for years but I put it to you that, because of the Somali Roadmap and the sudden interest the IC has developed for Somalia, there were never as many microphones for SL to shout into as they’ve found today. So what are these talks about? Unity? Separation? What? Well, in the case of Somalia it is obvious that they want to talk about Unity. However, I, you or the shoe polishers of Burco know that Somaliland will accept nothing short of full independence. Therefore, I put it to you again that there is no way that these talks are going to fail when looked at from the point of view of SL (they will, of course, fail from the point of view of unionists). Guru, SL is not going to lose ground here because it only entered the talks to clarify its future relationship with Somalia, a relationship that every voter in SL understands (we are independent, they are our neighbours). Now, had the government of Siilaanyo spent the last few months engaging in some PR exercise whereby they began hinting that some sort of loose union with Somalia was not a bad thing, I would have begun to worry just like you do now. However, this Kulmiye government (despite all its other faults) knows and realises that not even their most ardent clan followers will accept a single concession or compromise when it comes to the independence and sovereignty of Somaliland. They know that the only two accepted outcomes are that either SL agrees an official separation from Somalia, or, it withdraws from the talks. The advantages of the first option are obvious. Those of the second require some analysis. So, what is the worst that could happen if SL withdraws from the talks as a result of some deliberate procrastination from the TFG? Is it the argument that “we lowered our standards and sat with treacherous Somali politicians”? Seriously guru, these would be juvenile arguments that have no place in the modern world. An independent and mature government should be able to sit with anyone (look at how the world considered Sheikh Sharif a terrorist one day and is rolling the red carpet for him today). It is politics and they’re all means to an end. Still, flip that coin and look at the countless positives for SL (regardless of the results of the talks). There was a time when the world media would only mention SL if and when something interesting happened within the state itself (democratic elections, relative peace, Africa’s best kept secret, etc). The news was sporadic and, up to this day, there are (possibly) people within major governments in the world who do not yet understand or know the full story of SL. However, because of Abdullahi Yusuf and in turn because of AL SHABAB and as a result: because of the ROADMAP, Somalia is receiving almost constant coverage in the media and international diplomatic circles. Furthermore, because of the talks between SL & Somalia, SL is now receiving a healthy share of such coverage. Better still, when International actors complain about spoilers of the Roadmap or need for prompt transition, it is Somalia that receives the criticism not Somaliland. Yet, when they talk about positives going forward the name of SL is mentioned. This, guru, is free publicity that a nation seeking recognition must grasp with both hands. And, at any rate, what is the price for this free exposure; a simple pledge to sit with the TFG and clarify our future relations! A BARGIN! Shuffle that deck any which way you like and look at the hand you hold, guru. Aces every single time. p.s. One can accept educated guesses or some form of logical hypothesis but the last person I expected to go down the clairvoyant SOL route was YOU, saaxib. Leave the crystal balls to Xiin & Carafaat, guru. You’re much better than this warya.
  11. ^^ How about abortion? Can a parent decide to aborn their child?
  12. ^^ Naah. The idea was spot on, the execution was crap.
  13. ^^ Got to admit that Alpha is getting better with his putdowns these days. If only he left the SL example out, he would have had you looking all foolish there. Darn!

Spain were only the better side once their manager realised he needed width and brought on Navas & Pedro. For the rest of the game, Ronaldo's boys were head and shoulders above anything that Spain could offer. They congested the middle, cut off the passes and made sure that Alba was doing more defending than attacking. Mutinho was miles better than any player on that field (though Ramos wasn't that far behind). It was a good tactical game that meant both teams cancelled each other's strengths (for the most part) and the shoot out was nothing but luck. Your dark horses did good warya (though, of course, it's easy to pick a dark horse once they're in the quarters).
  15. German Muslims and Jews spoke with one voice on Wednesday – to denounce a court ruling which said circumcision was a crime of bodily harm. Both communities called for the criminalisation to be reversed. "I feel the decision is discriminatory and counters efforts to promote integration," said Ali Demir, the chairman of the Islamic Religious Community. "This legal ruling is an outrageous and insensitive act," said Central Council of Jews in Germany President Dieter Graumann in a statement. The Jewish council called the ruling an “unprecedented and dramatic infringement of the rights of self determination for religious communities.” The District Court in Cologne ruled on Monday that non-medical circumcision was a "serious and irreversible interference in the integrity of the human body.” The ruling was made on an appeal by the prosecutor of a case involving a Muslim doctor who performed a circumcision on a four-year-old boy. The court's logic was that the young child’s right to physical integrity had primacy over those of his parents to practice their religion. Both Graumann and Demir rejected that, saying the ruling was a discriminatory and unfair intrusion into their religious freedom. "This is a harmless procedure that has thousands of years of tradition and a high symbolic value," Demir said in a statement. He also argued that there were advantages of circumcision in reducing the transfer of diseases. He said forbidding the practice would do nothing to stop it. "We'll end up with circumcision tourism in neighbouring countries," he said. Echoing his Muslim colleague, Graumann said: "Circumcision of newborn boys is an integral part of the Jewish religion and has been practiced worldwide for thousands of years. This religious right is respected in every country of the world." Jewish boys are typically circumcised when they are eight days old, providing the child is healthy. Muslim boys are usually circumcised much later. Graumann called on the German parliament to create a legal framework to ensure freedom of religious practice. The Local/mw

Imagine coming home after a long day, without having to drive miles to go collect the kids from either daycare or the childminder etc feeling rather guiilty - now imagine coming direct from work to your home, to find it tidy[erm] food ready and kids all excited to see you as you take over from Abo whom need a bit of time to himself at the gym[mafrish too..lol]..knowing your children have been in their home, with their Abo...In all honest, I would rather have this setting then having both of us rushing around the place making money only to loose out on our children growing up. I am for stay at home Abo's, as long as he doesnt feel inadequate - I dont mind being the bread earner at all. Imagine him dropping the kids to school every morning. Imagine him as he waits for the kids to line up with a cluster of other single mothers (some of them pretty) every morning. Imagine him becoming friends with some of these mothers and going to get the shopping with them whilst the kids are at school. Imagine him knowing about all the neighbourhood gossip and spending his time on the phone with these new friends of his. Imagine coming home one day to find some of these women sat in your living room and having one of their many chats. Imagine your shock! p.s. I still think this is a non topic and that needs must. But I just got carried away with your 'imagine' sketch there.
