  1. @ am I the president. Seriously, bro? Wow. So now I might be suffering from inferority complex because of my simple assertion that we as Somalis have our own mess to think about? I gather your insinuation about my personality is perfectly accepted in the world of 'debates and discussion', eh? Given the context, I assumed it would be rather obvious that my reference to Somalis was directed at their state of affairs rather than their ethnicity. Obviously I was mistaken. In Any case, I don't see the benefit of this triviality. Don't let me stop you should you wish to continue gracing us with your 'constructive' criticism for the Arab nations (lame ducks ka sii wad ).
  2. Wakhtigu orod badnaa. I can't believe I've been a member for 6 whole yrs either. Insha Allah, many more blessed yrs to come for all.
  3. ^Classic, soo maha Originally posted by Adam-Zayla: my ancestral house is on fire therefore i'm automatically excluded from commenting on the events happening in neighbouring regions It's common sense, really. Given the desperate state of our own nation, our focus should be on how to ameliorate the problems facing us first, then perhaps we might have the audacity to comment on the shortcomings of other nations. Besides, if I am not mistaken, this topic was actually about Somalis harbouring hatred towards Arabs and not about Gaza or politics in the ME
  4. ^LoL, he seems rather confident with his 'kawaanle' skills Besides, the occasion deserves better than a mere digaag, waaku sidee?
  5. ^I knew you had the potential, Masha Allah. Maxaan qalnaa kolka? I am certain Xiin is equally delighted to witness the transformation (though still in its infancy ).
  6. Ignorance. Inferiority complex. If I may repeat, ignorance!! Originally posted by Adam-Zayla: waste of potential somaha? Waste of potential or not, there really isn't much room for a Somali to critique, is there? As always, ours is a case of seeing takarta maroodiga kale saaran. Talk about lost potential.
  7. One thing I certainly don't miss about Ontario is driving on the QEW/401.
  8. ^He gets a kick outa bugging you, so maha. Whatever happened to hooking you up with his lil bro horta? About the calling thing, I do think the nay sayers in here have a point. Receiving a random call from total strangers, esp under those circumstances, can be rather unpleasant. It's a sweet thought though. Insha Allah, our duas are with them.
  9. ^LoL. Thread Nuune, JB, and NG ku jiraan oon lagu wareerin miyaad aragtay? Mid wacan to you too, Cabdiyo (it's morning for me actually)
  10. ^You're welcome. NG, shaydaan fooqal shaydaan waaxid Wax kaa cuudiya ayaad u baahantahay (JB was saying something about it in another thread)
  11. ^Give the girl the benefit of the doubt, she did remember to say Allah knows best

  13. Japanese researchers are a joke! Shaqo la'aan baa heysa. The amount of research funding that goes into these impractical and ridiculous innovations could be better used for something that actually benefits human beings.
  14. ^LoL. The man has his own princess *Sigh* The lecture sent a shock through my body walahi, I felt every word of his was addressing me. The last time I've developed an actual written plan of what I wanted to achieve out of life was on June 14/08. I hesitantly just opened up the document to assess where I am and if I have made any progress at all. I am not pleased at all with the findings; the first priority on my list, under which I had 7 points, was to improve my state of Islam - of these points, I have probably made a noteworthy progress in only two (Silat A-Rahim and loving for the sake of Allah), and the rest, I've shamefully only accomplished the bare minimum  The only priority towards which I believe I have achieved the most is actually the 4th on my list; I fear I am among the hypocrites Shaikh Bilal spoke of. Time is of the essence and I know I am not making use of it wisely Barakallah feek, dear. It's a timely and much needed reminder.
  15. "Laa Taxzan, Inalllaha Macanaa" Do your best part against any injustice, and leave the rest for Allah to decide.
  16. ^Not really Somali, but it's tasty. Originally posted by Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar: I have to say the way Soomaali bariis loo kariyo is one of the best I agree, except the iskudhexkaris some folks make. Bariis is the best when it's cooked fluffy by itself, unless it's biryani. I don't think Somalis were ever creative in this area. Half the dishes the lady showcased have been adapted from other cultures - esp most of the desserts. Seriously, Somalis as Geeljires only knew how to cook/consume hilib and bariis (which I believe was later introduced by Indians) thus the only truly traditional cuisine we can claim. Of course all the pasta/seafood dishes were from the Italians. Yemeni/other Arab influence was also present. For instance, banana was the most popular/abundant fruit among Somalis yet people were not versatile with its use - I wonder why we never had different banana dishes (ie dried in snacks, in desserts, etc)?

  18. Originally posted by Instinct.Poet: Don't get me wrong anytime a human suffering is broad casted i feel remorseful and sympathetic towards the whole ordeal. Apparently not, for you obviously think it's a "big TV stunt" It's frustrating to see Muslims (and human beings in general ) with such absurd mentalities; hesitant to show even the least bit of empathy and compassion for their Muslim brethren who have been brutally oppressed for decades, in the name of anagaba yaa dan inaga leh. Speaks volume of our basic sense of justice and benevolence, doesn't it? Subhanallah
  19. That's good news. Much better than the indifferent Canadian knuckleheads.
  20. ^Naag aa? Kaaga ayaaba i diley
  21. ^Lol, you have a point but I refuse to think heerkaas iney gaadhey. It's more about the Britney look-alikes, I think. God, I can't imagine parenting teens.
  22. ^You forgot smile is a form of charity, and I am sure my dear Ibti affords poor lads that much
  23. Intel, I dare not delve into such matters in the presence of the expert (NG) Salaam darling, alhamdulilah I survived. Been chilling for two whole weeks. Hope your xmas break was nice p.s charity is sunnah
  24. Allah yaa wax xawaasheyey oon NGONGE ahayn At least you weren't the one rejected. My 14 yr old niece refused to add me to her list; I hadn't gotten over the shock that she was even on FB let alone not accepting me while she gladly accepted my sister in-laws and other family members....then she tells them she was afraid I'd be too strict and that I would inform her daddy. And here I thought I was the coolest eedo ever
