  1. The argument is precisely that - it is not for all areas of employment. For the tech industry that is based on research and innovation, marketing and IT Solutions, the idea of the flexible work schedule is feasible. For all us, it is not and it is another way for companies to cut costs and for Executives to get bigger Bonuses because they screwed all those beneath them.
  2. the same time its leaders get drunk on Ramadan, throw away fortunes on luxury escorts, on girls from Eastern Europe There you have it Bob. That is the source!
  3. No schedules. No mandatory meetings. Inside Best Buy's radical reshaping of the workplace The shape of future employment. No clocking out at 5pm. You are the property of the company 24/7. For those working in the stores, this means less work hours, more part time employees. It forces people out of full time jobs and they now will have to work 2-3 part time jobs, just to clock in 40hrs of paid workd.

    Sarcasm

sarcasm Meaning 1 : a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain 2 *a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual b : the use or language of sarcasm Did you know? If you've ever been hurt by a remark full of cutting sarcasm, you have some insight into the origins of the word. "Sarcasm" can be traced back to the Greek verb "sarkazein," which initially meant "to tear flesh like a dog." "Sarkazein" eventually developed extended senses of "to bite one's lips in rage," "to gnash one's teeth," and eventually "to sneer." "Sarkazein" led to the Greek noun "sarkasmos," ("a sneering or hurtful remark"), iterations of which passed through French and Late Latin before arriving in English as "sarcasm" in the mid-16th century. Even today sarcasm is often described as sharp, cutting, or wounding, reminiscent of the original meaning of the Greek verb From Webster's dictionary In today's age, sarcasm rather then frankness and honesty is the preferred method of communication. It is a norm nowadays to be sarcastic towards someone (as a sign of gentleness and mannerism) rather then being upfront.

  9. The duty of an Imam is not to pass judgment only Allah has the right to pass such judgment. from the family That is wrong. An Imam by definition is a mujtahid, one that makes decisions and leads through their decision making. The Imam did his part and was right in his approach. He did his research and if he was errored he will get ajar (because the intention was there) and if he was right (as the reaction shows) then he gets double the ajar. On another note, For those that quoted the incident wherein the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) stood up when he saw the funeral procession. That was to pay respect to the dead, to the soul and there are adab in the deen that reflect that. That however doesn't mean it was an acceptance that the deceased was going to janna or hell. It does does validate performing jannaza on a murtad, munfaaq or a fasiq. Simply put!
  10. how many of time have we bashed 'Somali men'.. Malaika, ruun baa sheegtay walaal. Somali men get bashed like bashing is an all year season (no spring, summer of rall) just a cold winter.

  12. Ailamos, I thought that this post was from you and then I saw that you were the 2nd person to reply. How come you weren't the first person to post this? You slowing down on us.....
  13. On the other hand if a majority of people vote for such a measure then it's their country and the people have spoken. That somes it up all - the majority dictate rule of law. The majority dictate what is right and what is wrong. That is the idea behind liberal democracy and has always been. Who influences consent? - The Media be it internet (blogs, facebook) or t.v. news and satires (daily show, cnn, bbc) or the papers (metros, the Times etc) by means of imagery (image of black clothed niqaabi) walking alone in the market or linking that image to an attack on the countries values. This whole debate is framed in a certain manner: - The Niqaab is a threat to public safety (better sell) and also an attack on our liberal values i.e. equality btwn men and women The muslims must show a united front here but unfortunately (as reflected on here) are too weak and too confused. The Niqaab is fard in some madhabs and is part of the deen (all the prophet's wives wore them) and an attack on the Niqaab is an attack on Muslim Values. Today the Niqaab, tomorrow the Hijab, the day after the beard and then any and all islamic symbols (no mosques etc.)
  14. Today's job market is as competitive as ever. You need to be able to effectively communicate you skill set so that you will give yourself the best competitive advantage to secure employment. During the interview process, you want to highlight as many of your strengths as possible. An easy way to do this is by slipping a few simple phrases into your next job interview. Here are seven things you should say in an interview. 1. I am very familiar with what your company does. Letting a prospective employer know that you are familiar with what a company does shows that you have a legitimate interest in the business and are not just wasting their time. Do your homework before arriving for an interview. Check out the company website for information about products and services. Search for the latest transactions and pertinent business news. More from Investopedia: • A Bigger Salary Or Better Benefits? • Taking The Lead In The Interview Dance • 7 Interview Don'ts Be sure to let the interviewer know that you are familiar with the newest company acquisition or the latest product that was just developed. Explain how your skills and experience are a perfect fit for the employer. 2. I am flexible. Work environments are always changing. Prospective employers are looking for candidates that are open to change and can adapt at a moment's notice. In today's fast paced business world, employees must have the ability to multi-task. Stating that you are adaptable lets an employer know that you are willing to do whatever is necessary to get the job done. This may mean working additional hours or taking on additional job duties in a crunch. Show your potential employer that you are equipped to deal with any crisis situation that may arise. 3. I am energetic and have a positive attitude. Employers are looking for candidates with optimism and a "can-do" attitude. Attitudes are contagious and have a direct affect on company morale. Let the optimist in you shine during the interview process. Be sure to always speak positively about past employers. Negative comments and sarcastic statements about past employers and co-workers will make you look petty. If you bad mouth your past company, employers are liable to believe that you will do the same thing to them. 4. I have a great deal of experience. This is your chance to shine. Highlight any previous job duties that relate directly to your new job. If it is a management position, state every time that you were responsible for the supervision, training and development of other employees. Discuss your motivational techniques and specific examples of how you increased productivity. Feel free to list any training classes or seminars that you have attended. 5. I am a team player. Do you remember when you were young and your teacher wanted to know if you could work well with others? Well the job market is no different! Companies are looking for employees that are cooperative and get along well with other employees. Mentioning that you are a team player lets your prospective employer know that you can flourish in group situations. Employers are looking for workers that can be productive with limited supervision and have the ability to work well with others. 6. I am seeking to become an expert in my field. Employers love applicants that are increasing their knowledge base to make themselves the best employees possible. Stating that you are aiming to become an expert causes employers to view you as an asset and not a liability. You are a resource that other employees can learn from. This is also a subtle way of illustrating that you have an attitude of excellence. You are aiming to be the best at what you do! This will let employers know that you are not just a fly-by-night employee, but in it for the long run. 7. I am highly motivated. A motivated employee is a productive employee. Talk about how your high level of motivation has led you to accomplish many things. If you are a meticulous worker, discuss your organizational skills and attention to detail. Companies are always looking for dependable employees that they can count upon. The Bottom Line Remember that a job interview is an opportunity to sell yourself to a prospective employer. Be sure to slip in the right phrases to give you the best chance possible of securing that cushy corner office on the ninth floor. Source

  18. This is pure sentiment on your parts that speaks. You don't judge by deen - that is our standard of measurements, our standard to judge and act. Sentiments (misely emotions) often compromise the truth and the deen. Allah commands His Messenger to disown the hypocrites, to abstain from praying the funeral prayer when any of them dies, from standing next to his grave to seek Allah's forgiveness for him, or to invoke Allah for his benefit. This is because hypocrites disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and died as such. This ruling applies to all those who are known to be hypocrites, even though it was revealed about the specific case of `Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul, the chief hypocrite. Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Umar said, "When `Abdullah bin Ubayy died, his son, `Abdullah bin `Abdullah, came to the Messenger of Allah and asked him to give him his shirt to shroud his father in, and the Messenger did that. He also asked that the Prophet offer his father's funeral prayer, and Allah's Messenger stood up to offer the funeral prayer. `Umar took hold of the Prophet's robe and said, `O Allah's Messenger! Are you going to offer his funeral prayer even though your Lord has forbidden you to do so' Allah's Messenger said,Verily, I will ask ﴿for forgiveness for him﴾ more than seventy times).' `Umar said, `He is a hypocrite!' So Allah's Messenger offered the funeral prayer and on that Allah revealed this Verse, Sura Taubah, (Whether you ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites), or do not ask for forgiveness for them. Even though you ask for their forgiveness seventy times, Allah will not forgive them.) Hadith: Verily, I will ask ﴿for forgiveness for him﴾ more than seventy times).' `Umar said, `He is a hypocrite!' So Allah's Messenger offered the funeral prayer and on that Allah revealed this Verse, Sura Taubah, And never (O Muhammad ) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies.) If Allah scolded his Messenger(salallahu caliyhe wasilm) for attending the funeral prayer, then what of the avg. person?
  19. From Ailamos, Islam can stand on its own merits and doesn't need bigots like you defending the religion, you're doing more harm than good yaa Tuujiye... To Ailamos and company يُرْضُونَكُمْ بِأَفْوَاهِهِم 1618; وَتَأْبَى قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ With (good words from) their mouths they please you, but their hearts are averse to you, and most of them are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh). They have purchased with the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh a little gain, and they hindered men from His Way; evil indeed is that which they used to do. , Sura Al Tauba
  20. Ailamos, The arguments are still the same. Some people's prespective is 'live and let live" and "we are all part of the human family". So if we are part of the human family and a pedophile or rapist was your neighbor and passed away, would you attend their funeral? How about a terrrrrorist? After all, they are all part of the Human Family and in each case, a potentional neighbor. Please read carefully and analyze, thinking and draw out your arguments. Don't just twitter, this ain't that site.
  21. Self Righteous Bigots A muslim that has a traditional islamic worldview and does not agree with your liberal, secular, anti-religious worldviews is self righteous? What does it make you and your lot then, when you come on SOL and dictate to us what is RIGHT and what is WRONG , what is ACCEPTABLE and what is UNACCEPTABLE?
  22. Just a quick a question for Sherbeen and the others, If your neighbor/coworker was a: - known serial killer would you attend there funeral? - a known pedophile would you attend there funeral? - a known rapist, would you attend there funeral? There is know obligation to enter their homes either. A khanees, a rapist, a pedophile, a munafaq etc., there is no obligation to enter their homes.
  23. if I were in a position to approve such targets, I would do it all day long and put my support behind it. The only one advocating for innocent civilians being killed is you, except there is a small correction to make - you are for innocent muslim civilians being killed. Maybe Cara should give you a 15min. free psych evualition. Should we actually get a return for a her B.A. in Psych. that it is collecting dust.

    Somalia Forever

Your a gaal who wants a secular system for somalia because of your own interest!! thats all what this is about.. That is exactly what its all about - self interest motivation to turn Somalia into a Secular state again (like in the Siyad Barre days, looking all european and adopting euro culture). Ailamos and B are just not being honest with themselves. They want a Somalia that advocates for what is in their hearts - secular liberal ideals, that come into conflict with our deen and way of life.

Blessed wrote: how do we reconcile this with secular ideals that oppose these fundamental tenets of the Quran? to which ailamos wrote back: A very good question, the answer to which I currently do not have and would like to know if someone else does. Ailamos, you already picked a side which you have been advocating for. The world is built on hierarchies (top - low, old-young, rich-poor, best-worst etc.) and therefor, you can not have to equal things. Secularism advocates for the total eradication of religion by seperating reality from religion, religion in the marketplace from religion in the home etc. Whereas religion aims to include GOD in everything, be it the marketplace, the workplace or the bedroom etc. When there is a conflict between the two (which is almost always) you have to pick a side and secularism doesn't accept anything that is a threat to its existence (hence why niqabs are being called for banning, you can't have polygamous marriages, you can't preach certains parts of the deen related to gender issues - openly etc). You can't reconcile the two diametrically opposed world views. Everyday, you are being asked to make a choice. For those that don't agree, I dare you to have a conversation with your classmates or coworkers about the issue of khaneeism in Islam and the punishment for it (and tell them that you believe in the punishment for it because that is what Islam says) and see what can of reaction you receive or reprecussions come your way.
