  2. It's not perfect. It won't be perfect. And certainly there will be issues, near-misses, discrepancies and mistakes in the process. This recovering area of Somalia is making a progress. Given the absence of institutional capacity to manage such a feat, Farole's decision to brave this difficult political transition at this juncture of Somalia should be commended. My hats off to the ambitious politicians who are challenging Farole. As long as the contest is settled in the ballot box I'm all for it.It's all good. Minjo dhooqo hadba mid baa la siibaa weeye sheekadu..
  3. Allow Sahal Awoowe in nidaam iyo kale danbeyn ay ka hirgasho mandaqa baa dhow. Muslimiinta iyo inta nabada iyo cadaalada jecel waa soo dhaweynayaan inta kalena insha'Allah dad Somaliyeed oo inta wada fariistay nidaam iyo kale danbeyn aysan cidna marti ugu ahayn doonaya dhib uma arki doonaa .
  4. JUSTICE is dear to me, and even though this particular event took place in a recovering area with weak and nascent institutions, and I will still defended it. I am sure the accused have not received the justice as we know it in the west where "beyond the reasonable doubt" is the high bar the prosecutor must clear before guilty verdict is returned. That said, if they have admitted guilty without coercion then I guess justice has been served.
  5. Question: How, who and why? I heard you and I want to believe you but my questioning attitude is getting the way. I am trying to reconstruct the events -- I understand the UNIPOS's role, the stakeholders and their insistence to have their reps to serve as their eyes and ears in the draft-making process were all there. I also understand that committee tasked to develop the draft with the help of UN "experts" were independent Somalis and hailed from different walks of life (in the clannish sense). I also understand the parliamentarians read the document, highlighted, marked up and affixed stickies in every other page How could this slip through their fingers? And what's the point in altering the draft whose original copies are in different desktops in both hard and soft copies? What's to gain from such hoax? Why? Awoowe waa isku kay qaban la'dahay bahashu -- ee fadlan i caawiya
  6. Oh! You meant to enquire about the high poker game being played there. The title of the post is misleading. You come across as someone who knows that there is something that is decaying or there is something that is morally, socially or politically corrupt or there is something that unpleasant in that recovering area of Somalia I was expecting to read an analysis or commentary explaining the rotten anture of Puntland! Alas our secessionist friend has limitations!
  7. The objective of the conference is said to be providing an international support to the government of Somalia. Somalia’s President Hassan co-chairs the conference with the UK Prime Minister David Cameron. Hassan has to make the case for the need to support Somali Federal Government effort's to rebuilding the country. He’s expected to layout his Six Pillar Policy and to ask the donors to bankroll its implementation. Interest groups are expected to condition their support and economic aid to government’s commitment to bring stability to Somalia and defeat AS. The expectation is that Hassan will outline the government’s plans to restore faith in governance, strengthen the security, consolidate the peace, resolve major outstanding political issues, and implement agreed upon social contract. All Somali stakeholders including recovering areas in the North need to support government’s drive in securing the maximum amount of funds for the reconstruction of the country. They need to realize that funds received by the government on Somalis behalf will not be used by partisan party in exclusion of others or used against them or against their interest. There are strings attached to the aid package. There are signs that political disagreements between some of the stakeholders are deepening. Some of the dispute stems from mistrust among clans. Others are constitutional in nature. Much of the disagreements are fuelled by the absence of genuine reconciliation. Still folks who are in position of influence are urged to take the interest of the country to heart and support the state always and oppose the government when they must. This is when our leaders wherever they are should support the country. It just so happened that President Hassan represents the COUNTRY this time around.
  8. Awoowe waan gartay. Laakiin annigu nimankan kama samrin. Waxan rabaa in the silent majority who read the forum daily ay bal akhriyaan waxa uu la soo shir tagaan What is it that secessionists see in Jubaland? The place is just in the early stages of recovering long and destructive conflict.
  9. I am getting old awoowe. Breaking it down for me like you would for 14 years old. You would think when Ustaad Oodweyne opposes mayhem and conflict he screams bloody murder, issue condemnation decree from his cyber pedastal, insults hebelo, dises others and engages a name-calling tirade But somehow for some reason only Xiin knows our highly esteemed Ustaad Oodweyne sees conspiracy in Kismayo He smells fish when elders gather around and talk about peace, governance and stability. He spews all sort of nonesensical cantrabaqash about shoe-shinners, boot-lickers and what have you. Awoowe halkay salaadu iska qaban la'adahay?

As you know today Kismayo is a peaceful city. Locals are the ones spearheading the current effort. AMISOM, SFG and IC all want to maintain the peace. Constitutionality of the gathering and the locals objective to form a federal state is valid issue and will be discussed at the parliament or supreme court which is the right venue for this type of issues. I know you have opinion on every issue posted on SOL Now where do you stand on this issue "SFG next move" and whatnot? Are you supporting SFG in slipping a trojan horse in the fprm of Inna Hiiraale in order to stop the free elections expected to be held in the coming days? 11. Is Barre Hiiraale for or against JL in its current form? Is there any relationship of signifance between Barre Hiiraale & SFG top brass? Is he after power for himself? is there time for throwing his hat in the ring? [EDIT]: Are scessionist rooting for former strong man who was part of the military junta of Inna Barre era? Or this apparent elation of Hiiraale's arrival in Kismayo -- shown by SOL secessionists -- is due to their unrestrained deep desire to see instability and new conflict in the region? Why?

  13. Oodweyne, Awoowe USC folks are Somalis. They have their own grievances, ambitions, and understandings in Somalis and how Somalis should go about governing Somalia. Other players including -block have similar issues and understandings. The civil war scars are fresh and all sides sustained major casualties. They all want to move on. There is social contract in place. And even though all sides have different understanding or interpretations what it means, they all agree to settle whatever political differences they have peacefully and never go back to their old ways of winner-takes-all paradigm. You see federalism, AS, foreign troops and stabilization program are different sides of the same coin. If they to want to succeed in getting this mamoth have a soft landing they will have to work together. As to this Kenyan troops, well they are foreign alright. Kenyans ahve their interest in Somalia. No doubt about that. Now they are also a member of AMISOM force. They are here to help the SFG to get rid of AS. Same is true wit other foreign troops in Benadir and other localities. What does not make sense to me and many other folks is this talk of singling Kenyans out. Awoowe quit this nonesense. As to USC vs. -block. Awoowe waa dad wax walbaba ka dhaxeeyaan. Dhaqan, diin, dal iyo in intaa ka badan. Wax baa Allah isugu daray. Waa is dhaleen waa wada dhasheen. Waa isu dhaxeen. Dadku waa dirriraa deetana waa wada fariistaa, garamaa, oo heshiiyaa. Marka boowe sidaad mooday hawshu uma foga. Ogoow saldannada waa la isku maagaa oo waa lakala riixdaa. Haatan waxa meesha la isku hayaa waa uun saldanadaa iyaddana waxan filayaa in wax la isu ogol yahay. Waxa ilaa haatan maaro loo waayey waa iddinka. Weynu dhowraa halka tiinu ku danbeysa saa hadal iyo is tusaaleyn iyo dood waa ku daaleyne e:)

True that. Bal hadde addigu tab dheh nimankan isku dhex yaacay. Dad bay meeli buktaa, dad bay meeli buktaa!
  15. I thought the foreign minister was articulate and little bit familiar with the way Washington works. The take away from this, in my opinion, is that secessionists have given up recognition and are focusing on handouts and the way they are distributed. Another take away is the venue of the event is a think tank center. Personalities in this particular think tank are also familiar. Now anyone who has an idea of how Potomac river works will tell ya this event is no event of consequence.
  16. I thought he penned a coherent writeup about the President and his team's failings in upholding the dignity of the office of presidency. His point is crystel clear -- when you represent your people know the history, the occassion, and the venue and conduct yourself accordingly. If the words and phrases attributed to the President is true then Hassan dropped the ball. He should have cut him some slack and point out the fact that team is new to the office instead of being that harsh on him. Akso he seems to question Hassan's motive and by extension his wadaninim.

  18. Secessionists are having a ball Or atleast are pretending to have one. Reason? Xiin is trying to figure that one out I on the other hand have a hunch why they seem to convince themselves with the age old narrative that golden cup is around the corner is at hand and D-block dominance in all things Somali is ending soon or is about to come to a screaching halt for good. 1. Secessionists have been received by the big shots in Ankara and London, their grievances have been heard and big shots agreed that the dominion will continuee to get its share of reconstruction fund under the auspices of SFG throughout the negotiation period. 2. PL is in entering a crucial political transition. As all political transitions in Africa there is a chance that things may go south. 3. There is a widening disagreements within the SFG in the implementation of the Federalism. 4. There is an alignment of policy toward the balance of power in Somalia between Mogadishu and Hargeisa. **Waan isugu toos-toosiyey maadaama sidii qurxoon oo inna rag wax u oran jiray loo oran waayey ** Xiin if what we suspect is true with the grief-stricken secessionts , their excitement is well founded. The D-block's success whether in PL or JLrecovering areas is a cause of concern in some corners. So Ayoub, Mintid, AofS and Ustaad Oodweyne are looking to the stars for celestial alignment against particular clans. The reading is in and it foretall doom and defeat Say akhrud to the juvenile discussions The four points are current events and could make the gallery attentive if discussed a la akhyaar style.
  19. Who penned this write-up? Where is the source? Theirs is a losing battle! President Hassan wants to keep the current arrangement -- PL, SL & South -- intact. He has the national purse under control and he will use the green and appointments (extremely attractive incentive to folks who want to have job security and steady income) to his advantage. Uphill battle I tell ya.

  23. Brilliant. Oodweyne contained his emotions. Bravo:) True Ethiopian tanks did not run through dusty tarmac of Northwest, Awdal, Togdheer or Sanaag. But they didn't have to. You are missing the point awoowe. The military junta was weakened by intenal uprising and external armed rebels armed, sheltered and supported by no other than Ethiopians you sem to despice when the other clan players allied themselves with. The proxy war Ethiopia waged against the republic before and after the civil war is the big picture you should be looking at when you engage in the details of how the civil war was fought and its unfortunate consequences it brought to Somali masses. Awoowe tookh eber ah baad haysaa ee waxaad ayaan darrada na wada heysa uga hadhaa: Gacantii nin lihi goynaya waa gumuduntaaye, Nin walaalkii geed ugu jiraa, geeshi noqon waa.
