The European right-wing extremists have fallen so deeply that they needed to borrow a Jew and a half-blood to lead them!

No, this is not like saying – falsely – that Hitler was Jewish – either to discredit the Nazis (if one thinks that Jews are worse than Nazis) or to blame also WW II on the Jews.

No, this is not like saying that it should matter in politics who’s a Jew and who’s Asian.

But if a person of color who is also a Jew leads a continent to a racist abyss, and he does not hear his internal voice of decency, we should remind him that he’s just as condemnable as any Neo-Nazi; and we should tell the Nazis and Neo-Nazis that he himself is ein Untermensch – subhuman, in Nazi thought – not anything more than the Blacks from Africa and the Muslims from anywhere whom he maligns. (Africa will soon count four billion people who will flood Europe.)

Geert Wilder is a Jew. His mother was a full Jewess. If they had been in Europe 80 years ago, his fake-blond hair and his racist talk would not have saved her not Geert from the gas chambers. Nor would his Czechoslovakian wife have made it, who is a Jewess too. But his parents survived in Indonesia.

He’s not just a Jew, he’s also a half-blood – yet another embarrassment for racist Europe. But hydrogen peroxide makes his lush thick black Indonesian hair seem blond and so … he’s kosher enough for the Neo-Nazis. He looks and talks like a proud Aryan, and that’s what counts for now.

How ridiculous would his hatemongering be if it came from the lips of someone who is clearly a Jew and/or Asian.

Unfortunately for proud Jews, he is not a proud Jew. He guides Europe towards a new assault on everyone who is too Semitic or too non-White. When the Dutch parliament recently had to vote for or against kosher slaughter he and his party voted … against. When push came to shove, he was not a friend of the Jews.

He claims to be a friend of Israel, but only because he saw in the Jewish State a bulwark against Muslims overrunning Europe. (Well, Syrians did not need to pass through Israel to flee there.) US Neo-Nazis also endorse Trump, although he is for Israel. Apparently, they don’t mind leaders supporting Israel as long is their general policy is to their liking. They probably are mostly annoyed with the Jews around them. Or they assume that Israel can be best dealt with at the end.

But maybe I should protect a fellow Jew? In my opinion he has finished deserving the title Jew. Listen to this: Geert Wilders speech @ Koblenz, Germany with English subtitles. Is it just the German that make him sound like Hitler? Or is it the hysterical applause? You might have more objective ears than me. My four Jewish grandparents were all gassed at Auschwitz.

Wilders says on this tape: “We politicians are not important. It is not about us. It’s about you, it’s about the voter, it’s about all the people in this room, but also about the country’s millions.” (When Nazis talk about serving the people, they never include Jews, Blacks, etc. as part of the nation.) “Not we, but you are important.”

Just guess who said “I myself thank Providence and my Creator not for preserving me—my life consists only of worry and work for my People.” Adolf Hitler, in 1944. Oy vay, when a leader claims to be unimportant and that the only ones who count are his (sic) People. Only leaders full of themselves will make this obvious point, thereby annulling it.

Wilders is much worse than President Trump. Trump stands for right-wing US, and his biases are but side-dishes. However, Wilders stands for racism (and nothing else) which is his main dish. When Trump says that he wants to make America great again, that sounds very different from Wilders saying to Germans that we will make Germany great again. Great … again? Very different. And he says it.

How ironic that Wilders calls upon Europeans to regain their pride. He’s proud of being a typical European. Except that he isn’t. He’s a Jew and an Indo, more than any other ethnicity. And he will not accept Muslims and Negroes as European, ever. You see how renouncing and lying about one’s own background leads to disastrous behavior? Admitting to his un-Aryan background might do more than making him unwanted in Neo-Nazi circles. It could help him stop being such a bigot.

May Wilders become a proud and out Jew and Indo now!

  2. We are all waiting for the prime minister to nominate his counsel of ministers. The constitution allows the him about a month to assemble his ministers and then, the parliament either approves or rejects them as a group. It is not a perfect system in so many ways. Rather than judge the ministers individually by merits, the parliament votes as a block. Lately we have been hearing the consultations the minister is having with Somali tribes residing in the parliament and outside.

I really do not understand the idea of satisfying tribes with ministers. With over 300 members sitting in both houses of parliament , almost every Somali clan or sub clan is represented in these chambers. Representation in the parliament is not equal or comparable a vote inside the cabinet. The cabinet should be based on geography (regions) and merit. The so called 4.5 formula will make the cabinet susceptible to tribal pressure and incompetence. If you use these formula and give each group seven ministers, that would make some regions over represented. For example , the D&M , group who is represented in South West region will have 7 ministers from three provinces. while the northern region of Awdal, W.galbeed, Togdheer, Sool and Sanaag, might only get four according to the formula. Also , the Puntland region with three provinces , including big cities like Boosaaso and Gaalkacayo may get only two minister after they are divided among the "D" block.

I would rather use merit and simple regional formula with each province getting a seat in the cabinet. Also, if you give tribes the veto power to appoint ministers, that will make your cabinet weak and only accountable to their tribes or those who were pushing their nomination. In stable countries political appointees like ministers usually push the agenda of the government through the government ministry, but most of the work is done by professional bureaucrats who are expert in their fields. Since Somalia does not have a well established and functioning bureaucracy , it needs competent and able ministers to organize and build these institutions.

I would like to urge prime minister Khayre to reject the tribal pressure and select competent men and women to dig this country from the hole. This mess that we found ourselves for he last two decades was created mostly by us Somalis, and it's only other Somalis who could be able to dig all of us out. While sound, stable politics and leadership guides the affairs of nations , eventually what counts more than any thing else is hard work and vision. Flying around foreign capitals and pampered with false promises will not dig wells in Hiiraan nor will help you deliver salaries to the soldiers in Baydhabo..

Mr. prime minister, it will be about work, work, and work. Few years ago I was a member of local non profit organization assigned to build small port in the western regions of Awdal. We wanted to build small ,hundred feet jetty to help local people for fishing and small commercial boats that would bring goods from Yemen and others gulf countries. Less than $200,000 dollars were the early estimates.

We did raise money , and while we were on the process , others suggested that since we were building a port, why don't we build something good and lasting that would probably cost a million and half. For six years, I flew to Minneapolis, Toronto and other places to meet other people who were helping that effort. Add that to hundreds of hours of useless conference calls that takes away your leisure time for weekends . Finally, I decided to quit . We did raise some money, while others have bought and delivered some equipment for the construction. At the end, after six years, , there was no small jetty or any port built. In fact , there was no shovel to the site . No one executed the real work, like giving the contract for someone to fill the sea or dig any thing. in order to do a job, you need a place to do the work and time to conclude, in other words , time and space , otherwise it would became just talk. Those people whom I was working (talking) with were all educated people , but they never created any thing in their lives. They never understood the efforts of executing the job and getting dirty or standing in the hot sun to achieve these goals.

In order to live by the high hopes of the people , you must work 16 hours a day. Also, in the third world , the kind of change that we have seen in February 8, 2017 is almost impossible and sometimes unacceptable to the dictators in our neighborhood. Kenya , as a democratic country , may accept the changes in Somalia since they themselves went through some elections, but the despots in the region , including Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda and others are probably terrified . While most of our problems are from our own making, those who would like to take advantage of our situation, either for economic or security reasons will not disappear easily.

The Ugandan army has carried a big load to help us defeat Al-shabaab, but no nation in their right mind will be willing to repatriate and bring home ten thousand soldiers who are earning hard currency by their countries standard. Imagine, if these soldiers go home, they will be earning $120 dollars instead of $1200 they getting in Somalia. They would probably stage a coups and try to replace the 30 year rules of Musafeni. Uganda and Ethiopian leaders are already discussing ways to throw sophisticated obstacles in the near future. They will not rush in the short term, but as soon as they smell blood or see weakness, dysfunction or opportunity, they will fill in.

A targeted killings never seen since the A/laahi Yusuf government of 2005, has started in Mogadishu for the last few weeks. Innocent people who happen to be just government workers, police officers, former soldiers or just city cleaners (a woman who is a city cleaner was among them) who do not have protection have been killed almost every other day. The bombing that subsided at the end of last year , but are reappearing in faster base targeting markets and vendors.

I do not want to be ahead of my self, but there is already a dangerous man sitting inside the parliament. Hassan Sheikh has as much as 80 members of parliament who are loyal to him and he might use these people for his future plans. Hassan Sheikh was worried about Shariif Ahmed and did not expect Formaajo to unseat him. With the Berbera port issue looming and the cash carrying Emirates, any thing can happen. A year and half ago there were efforts to impeach Hassan Sheikh inside the parliament with almost 90 signatures , but some how through intimidation and other methods he survived. If the impeachment of Farmaajo starts within two years, it will be headed by no other than Hassan Sheikh.

Mr. prime minister, you need tough men and women to face these Unisom people down the road in few years. When the new secretary general of the united nations landed in Mogadishu early these week, he did make a big statement that almost everyone missed. Of course he did mention the drought and the looming famine, but he also asked the investment of the Unisom soldiers. He never mentioned about Somalia building it's own capacity. Those who expect others to carry their load , will always repeat the same mistakes other made before they left the stage.

Their are enough soldiers in the country as we speak. There are trained and able soldiers in Puntland, Galmudug, Jubba and other places. All you need to do is incorporate them, pay their salary and elevate the as national army instead of regional. They will be happy to be paid and employed.

The best way to confront this tough issues in the future and succeed is to nominate competent people who will fight with you in the trenches. When Faarax Shirdoon Saacid was nominated, he was given the list made by Damujadiid. He accepted every thing and added his own incompetent allies to fend of the the Damujaddiid assault. . Within six months his government was considered both by Hassan Sheikh and the parliament to be incompetent and week. They gave him even a nickname. They force feed you and at the end will blame you.

If you are just worried about getting the approval of the parliament , and swallow the pills that Somali tribes are subscribing to you, definitely you will fail. Consider the tribal interest to be evil and self centered. Follow your conscience and if you fail, there will be no regrets from your side

  3. If we wait the Somali government or the regional governments, this famine will be devastating like he one in 2011. The Awdal drought of the summer of 2016 became manageable by the efforts of the local and diaspora communities. Aid was delivered by local organizations directly to people without delay.

We must urge the Somali government to use Somali relive organizations on the ground. We have effective indigenous relief organizations in Somalia. Among the best is Mercy international, Amoud foundation and others. Amoud foundation was in our town two weeks ago. Their administrative fee in 9% , that means 91% of the help goes to people. They showed us clips of drought relive delivered to Burtinle, Puntland and other surrounding villages.

Here in the villages of Togdheer Amoud foundation is delivering food for 500 families , and at the end of the clip the head village said that they never had seen any relive like from the government or others.

Remember the old man Siilaanyo and those who looted the public purse are in London for almost four weeks. They suppose to be on the ground.

  4. I do not want to over kill, but I know their family. Their father was a diplomat and died with plain crush in Somalia in 1981. The whole family is educated. last year when I visited iMinneaplois, I met her older sister who is a medical doctor, and she was managing a healthcare company in the suburb of Minneaplis.

They never involved any thing tribal or sectarian, Successful people do not have time for tribal issues. I Could say by far the "Abraar" family is one of the most educated and successful Somali families in north America. Imagine three women all having not only advanced degrees, but also successful profession.

We all want to fight corruption, but the best people who could help succeed are hard to find. As they say, the gold is hidden. Also, the best people are busy with their lives.

If Farmaajo targets those kind of people , there will hope.

  5. Well , as usual you are complimenting one another by accusing this fine lady as tribal because she visited Hargeisa and dinned with wife of former president Rayaale.

Mr.Oodweyne , you mentioned that you saw her once along the wife of Rayaale dinning in Hargeisa. People visit their families as they wish, but busy and professional people usually go home once in a decade, especially those who live in North America.

You both agree that by taking a job at the Somali Central Bank in 2012, she is tribal and against Somaliland. That is the most ridiculous and clannish statement to justify your attack on this fine lady. In 2011, Fowsiya Haji Aadan had a political party in Somaliland , which failed to pass for the second round, yet after one year she left for Mogadishu and she became the foreign minister of Somalia. I bet non of you said she was tribal by leaving Somaliland. What a logic. In fact , there was some officials who left Hargeisa while they were directors, and then joined directly the Somali government.

Further more , nowadays, I do not think any self respecting professional person would join the incompetent, corrupt, disorganized and family run government of Siilaanyo. Who would join Cakuuse, Cadaani, Biixi and others ? I don't think so.

  6. I do not see C/raxman Bayleh will be as effective on the issue of bringing Somaliland. If you have seen his interviews, he is very careful when he talks about Somaliland. He does not raffle any feathers. He might be a strong unionist but he is one of those who have dealt Somaliland while he was the vice president of African development Bank and throughout the years , he brought a lot money toward Somaliland. He is hard working , but he is one of those older generations northerners who are more bureaucrat than politician. Let me just say that he has a soft spot. You are correct about Hadliye.

To bring the land , you need to be sophisticated and calculating like us. I told you before, If the right guys get the power, within four years We could bring Somaliland without a fire.

On Farmaajo, everybody that I talked to says that he is not tough and does not have the deep skills that needed to navigate, but he has the will, passion and love of the country and the people. Like any other president who want to succeed, he must surround himself with able people. Besides, we the believers (ehlul caqiida) through our Islamic tradition, believe that the destiny of gaining power is through the will of Allah (Kursigu Samada ayuu yaalaa ee dhulka ma yaalo).

No one is expecting Farmajo to conquer Berbera or impede the business of that town, but major life altering issues like the war in yemen and foreign troops who want to engage another country from our soil is unacceptable. also do not try to be clever with words, you might self declare what you wish , but international rule allows Somalia to be the final decision maker on these issues.

Siilaanyo have already entered the union agreement and future discussions both in London and Istanbul in Turkey. That agreement allowed Somaliland to get some cash while pretending to be negotiating. All I am saying loud noise or empty threats from Hargeisa has no weight if you are a Somali leader fulfilling his duties.

Any way, as Suldaanka said, we unionists have high hopes, so give as time to enjoy this victory and see what the future holds.

Doodan halkaa inoogu soo xidh, waan ogahay oo qolooyinkeenan Landersku niman dhayal ku hadhaya matihin . meelaha SOL iyo kuwa kalaba hawlo adaag oo qaran ayaad ka haysaan oo Jamuuriyada soo difaaca oo xaga internetka ka difaaca amar ah ayaad qabtiin, e.

  7.

Distribution business is more than 3 trillion dollars in North America. Rather than operate a retail , you will sell business to business. You need a good warehouse and a sales team. You buy the products from the manufactures, and sell whole sell.

For example , large cities like Columbus , Minneapolis have number of groceries of Halal meats, restaurants and other middle eastern shops that sell meat products. The average Somali restaurant cooks one goat a day, combined with beef and other meat products. You could buy whole sale meat directly from Australia and other goat producers and sell to these shops. Frozen meat could be stored for years in the warehouse freezers and nothing will happen in terms of quality or taste. With your frozen truck , you could distribute hundreds of goats of meat and other products per week from your warehouse. The Australian whole sellers will deliver to your warehouse directly in weekly basis. That Somali directed business only.

Every company needs to expand and sell their products as a whole sale and reach as many people as possible. Retailing is tough and the competition is throat cutting. Also most companies need a franchisee to distribute., they will train you and supply you with products. In most businesses, I found America to be more flexible and densely populated than Canada. here in Canada , we got only six or seven big cities while the rest are medium size towns. In America almost every state has six or seven cities to do business. Also, unlike Canada, there are no monopolies in certain markets. Actually , when I was in America, in early 2000, I thought to be the best place to do business with less regulation and taxes, although that may change under the leadership of the deplorable.

    5-Consulting (engineering) and construction management.

It will be difficult for young Somali graduates to open their own businesses in the early years of their career. They have to get the necessary work experience and earn some money to pay back the school loans they owe, but after while they must think big. They are no longer immigrants like as , but as the first generation of Canadian born Somalis, they must look ahead and participate the larger economy.

Construction management businesses are available if you get the right connections. Most small or medium size builders could build and manage condo's or small housing projects. Even the larger ones do not own equipment or other expensive tools. There are this companies building 1000 units of condo throughout the city, yet they do not own one single heavy equipment. last year I was chatting with this site manager that I deal with regularly , and asked him about his qualification or if he were an engineer of some sort.

He said no. He had 2 year of diploma about construction management offered by the local community college. He told me that his company is running around 20 sites building condo's, duplexes and town homes, and they do not own one single heavy equipment. He said, it would be a waste of time, resource and money if we keep relocating and moving the excavator, the bulldozers , the heavy equipment, forklifts, roofing elevators and so on. Instead, all this work is done by contractors. It is up to them to bring and do the job, whether they have to dig trenches, install under ground plumbing, roofing, siding or finishing products. His job is to manage which one has to come first. If the house is at the last stages, toilet fixtures, laminates and counter tops, and electricians will show up different days. They manage contractors.

If the housing market slows down , they will just stop building new ones until the market recovers. Before that house is sold, ten or more contractors will do the various jobs. It is a great way to distribute the wealth in the industry. People with engineering degrees could set up small firms to get contacts and build things for larger companies.

It is all involved in trade jobs that our young people need to learn , but have not got in yet. In Canada , the construction industry is 70 billion dollar industry. Before we own small construction companies, we need our young men to enter trade jobs instead of the usual political science and management degrees that do not help them gain full employment. Developed countries means technological development. What we all see is shiny tall buildings, clean streets, working sewage and toilet systems, but all that is through technical and trade knowledge. My biggest worry is that with all the technologies and other life altering modern mechanics that are available in these developed countries our youth are not getting any of that. We do not need liberal arts that does not elevate poverty here or back home.

The biggest obstacle for the Somalis is that we do business with out meager savings. When we enter or buy , we use our own saving with no cash flow to use when we face difficulties in the early months. Loans or grants will help you buy the right equipment and lasting assets that sell if the business fails.

  8. First of all who is Somalilander?. Opposing the session does not deny people to be native of that land. If the issue is that ,let the separatist debate the merit of the base , then so be it. say loudly that only separatists can debate the matter. I have brothers, sisters, in-laws, uncles and all family in Borama , Gabiley and Hargeisa. . . So, as you can see , we are intermingled (waan isku tidcan nahay), yet that does not stop me rejecting separation.

When I say you are young, you really proved me right. The Jaamac C/laahi Qaalib I am talking was elected from Berbera in 1960. He has left the SNL of Cigaal and joined the ruling SYL., and became the first parliamet speaker of Somalia in 1960, You probably thinking general Jaamac Mohamed Qalib, who is a native of Hrgeisa. Cigaal is buried in Berbera, and his family had land and businesses in Berbera. Jamaal might be from Hargeisa, but his ancestral home land is Saaxil. I could be from Degmo Laqas in western Awdal , but you guys identify us being from Borama.

On the Visa thing, I hope the Somali president and the government will have a backbone and resist these pressures. In 2015 when Dubai World Port left Djibouti after disagreements with president Cumar Geele, they tried these same tactics, but did not work. They Djibouti passport holders who used to travel through Dubai without visa were denied entry. They called their Ambassador to Dubai and stopped their airlines flights to Djibouti. After while they backed down .

This is huge test for the government . The UAE is not a country but a bank.

  9. Barwaaqo, hawshu waa biciidkaa aad sheegtay, Laakiin haddii Addeero cell qodi waayo, reerkuna haraad iyo Gaajo ku jiro, waxa laga yaabaa in reeku u guuro meel daaq leh.

Bal guidu ha inoo dambeysa dadka biyaha waraabiya oo wax hagaajiya. Midda kale ma rabo dooda in ay nala dheeraatee waxaan u haystaa " Anagu in aanu idin cafinay".

Burco waxaan maqlay markaad xaafad cusub soo degto, derisku dhagax iyo shiid ayey kugu billaabayaan, markaad tidhaahdo siday wax u dhaceena waxay ku dhihi waanu ku soo dhaweynaynaa. Markaan dib u daawaday waraysitadiisi hore nin macquul ah Siilaanyo iyo waxan uu wada diidan ayuu u ekaa.

O serious note our friend Oodweyne is saying the Awdalites are expecting the rescue of Farmaajo. All I can say is that many Awdalites are happy to live with hapless habro at this moment but, who knows , if things does not improve people will always look another alternatives. Wabar was a hapless Suldaan who was not up to the job like any other Suldaan in Hargeisa. God forbid if the unrepentant Muuse Biixi is crowned , I am sure another more serious Wabar will rise up, and our friend might get his wish.

In the mean time 'Doodan inoo soo xidha inta aysan inala fogaan.

  10. Maakhiri1 touched little bit about your insinuations that somehow we want the elimination of Somaliland by opposing the Berbera base. If my memory serves better, the take over of Berbers port by DWP was raised in the spring or early summer. At that time , I was one of those who welcomed the modernizing of the port and , also mentioned the oil terminal and other infrastructure Dubai port did in Djibouti. In their effort to sweeten the deal they promised roads and other infrastructure developments. According to some business analysts, "The 30-year contract won by Dubai Ports World will help break up Djibouti’s monopoly on land-locked Ethiopia’s freight and, if it works out, will prove to be economically very lucrative for Somaliland". That was the main reason we welcomed the expansion and development of the Berbera port.

Also, for the last few years Somaliland entered many business and bilateral agreements with different companies and countries, and as far as I am concerned, no one raised any issues. The reason issue # 1, came on the debate was Somaliland was introducing a foreign war to the Somali shores. We Somalis have enough wars managed and led by foreign troops, and we have no intention of bringing another religion based and deadly war of the middle east to Somaliland.

Now as you said let us concentrate Issue #2 and the base.

The main objections of the base by most people is the war in Yemen. The Yemeni coast is at stone's throw from the coastal regions of Somaliland. People in Lughaya, Saylac and Berbera are very close neighbors of Yemen. If the Somaliland administration want to push this issue, it must provide all the necessary documents to the parliament and the opposition to study. I have never seen a draft agreement that needs to be studied and scrutinized being signed by parliament before it's conclusion.

Even Sacad Ali Shire, the Somaliland foreign minister , and the only decent and educated man left in the cabinet---he is from berbera, and always good politicians come from that town, including Cigaal, Jaamac qalib, the first Somali speaker of parliament in 1960, vise president Ahmed Yasin, and lastly the Young and educated Jamal Ali Huseen undermined by Faysal Waraabe and Siilaanyo--said the negotiations were still going on. He did sign himself yet, and did not come at the parliament or to the media to push it's signing.

Another important aspect of the deal that forces many people to reject is the manner it is sold to people. If the people get some badly needed infrastructure or improvement in their future employment conditions , they would have accepted or tolerated the Huthie missile. All they see is the cronies of the Siilaanyo family making millions at the expense of everyone.

Mitid Farayar, you might be a young man who grew up in the diaspora, but those of us who were young in late eighties have seen something parallel in Somaliland that did happen in Somalia. In 1987 Siyaad Barre had a car accident which made him unable to govern and the day to day operations were transferred to the family. That family looted the money and abused the trust which led to the disintegration of the nation. I see a similar scenario here in Somaliland. As we speak president Siilaanyo will be spending one month or more in London and the tribe is telling as that he was in vocation. Since when a leader would visit a foreign country ans spend months without even disclosing his illness. Those of us who have senses have seen his incoherence or his inability to even read simple letters.

We see the theft of the public money, the nepotism and incompetence of his cronies, and last but not least the destruction of the public institutions. There is no election in sight, and as we speak , the poor "Guurti" led by "ma Naxe" Saleebaan Gaal will allow him another extension which will make him two terms without re-election. That is why we oppose these base and it's consequences. Somaliland is peaceful and most Somalis would like to keep that way, but peace does not mean the absence of war, it is a peace of mind in many different ways.

  11. Barwaaqo waad salamaan tahay.

Waxa la yidhi reer Burco marka aad deris noqotaan ee aad xaafada soo degto, dhagax iyo shiid ayey kugu bilaabaan. Markaad tidhaahdo siday wax u dhaceena waxay ku odhanayaan waa isbarashada hore. Ninkan saaxiibkeen aha ee qaylinayaa ma ahan reer Burco ee waa reer Gabiley oo deris ayaanu nahay.

Haddii Siilaanyo ceel qodiwaayo, gabana baas oo Morgan la yidhaahdana isku wareejiyo, waa in meel kale loo baxaa.

On serious note , we the diaspora are probably out of touch of the situations back home or the attitude of the people in general. Last summer, a friend of mine from Awdal went to Borama and spent couple of months. His brother was running for top jobs in one of the parties in Somaliland. After he came back I asked about the people in Somaliland and their attitude about session and Somalia in general, and particularly the Awdal region at this moment?.

He said people intermingle for trade , education and many others reasons all over the place from Mogadish, to Hargeisa and Borama. He said , " Wax isweydiinaya oo kala go' iyo waxaas ka hadlayaba ma arag, qof kasta noloshiisu eryanayaa, oo qaar waa kuwa nidaamka ku jira oo barqaaqaystay, qaarna kuwaas ayey ku xidhan yihiin, kuwana way dhiban yihiin'.

He said , I never seen any hostility from the SNM public toward the AWdal people. There is competition among the elite , among the Hapro and everyone is trying to survive and gain some think from the corrupt system. In other words, the people are smarter than me , Oodweyne or most people who measure things in regional lenses.

By the way, I like the people of Berbera. I see their soccer teams going to Camuud or Borama almost every year. They are the only group among the cities who are connecting themselves with other communities. Also, unlike Burco or Oodweyne, they always produce decent politicians and leaders, From Jaamac Cabilaahi Qalib, the first Somali speaker in 1960, to Cigaal, Ahmed Yasin, and finally Jamal Cali Huseen, an educated young politician destroyed by Siilaanyo and Faysal.

Let us all help and cheer for the Somali people to rise from the hell hole and do not worry about what comes next.

  12. Che,

I saw this tread about business, but the political treads consumed concentration and I forgot about the topic. Let me add my few senses.

The engine of the North American economy is free enterprise and ingenuity of the business people. More than 80% of businesses are small and medium side businesses run by dedicated people. I am not an expert of the economy in the larger sense, but I would like to give you some tips if you are interested in owning and running your own business.

The longer you operate a business the more successful you became. Doors will open , you learn more secrets and finally , the loans from banks will be easy to access.

    1-Food and restaurant business.

It s the worst job if you are selling to your Somali community. Most of the food is cooked or precooked before service, and you will experience a lot of waste. usually , there are not enough space in the kitchen or lack of modern equipment makes your job labor intensive. A huge plate of rice, goat meat, mango juice, a bowl of soup, and banana would only sell $10. That same plate with less rice or meat , coupled with style and services , sells $25 dollars at the Boston Pizza.

Yet, if you are in to food service and eager to enter, I would suggest a donair shop. A Khums bread loaded with few slices of chicken or beef with tomato, and little sous and fries would sell $10 dollars. They could choose and add their a pope or juice. No dishes to wash and no major other labor is involved. Two or maximum or three employees could run smoothly. Hire a middle eastern chief and you could be successful.

    2-Insurance broker.

Big cities with large Somali populations need insurance services. All you need is nicely decorated, and professionally looking office. You and someone who will be acting both as a broker and Secretary to help you manage the customers. While insurance rates are almost similar in price, most people, especially Somalis would like to talk to someone and give a comparative prices. After you register the clients, most of other inquiries like accidents will be dealt by other agents from the head office.

If you advertise well and show competence and professionalism, you could get large number of Somalis and others. These days, Most Somali families have two or three cars to insure.

In the meantime, while you growing your clients, you could operate a travel and ticket agent on the side. It does not cost much to add to the existing business. Do not cell cheap or stand by airline tickets, especially international flights which may cause hardship to the clients and eventually could ruin your reputation.

    3-Transportation broker.

The oil prices are coming down and the trucking business is getting bigger. China as the second biggest economy of the world is the manufacturing hub of the world. Trump keep musing about China, but an operation manager in my company told me that if ships leaving Chinese ports are delayed 60 days, most malls in north America will be closed. Any way those huge products are moved either by train or trucks. Service industry is always growing in North America.

If you are business oriented and fluent in the English language , you could set up small office in the run down area of the city and set up your office to dispatch freights. You do not need to own tractors or even five ton trucks. You could hire an agent to get freights from companies, but also like the stock market, freight forwarding, cargo's and loads are accessed by members through your computer. You could bid and get the load. There are significant number of Somalis who own both short and long haul trucks, but, lack of education and market access, they do not own freight forwarding companies or freight dispatching companies. . Somalis are independent and would not mind the freedom of the highways.

I had one here, but I did close after the financial collapse in 2009, also high oil prices of $100 dollars made less profitable for the owner operators. In America, long haul freights from the California carrying fruits could be as high as $6000 one way. As broker, you would take between 15 to 18% of the rate. In these business managers and owners are mostly white people just learned the trick, while most of the owner operators are either immigrates or whites.

    4-Cleaning and maintenance.

This job is one of the most profitable businesses if the labor market is flexible. You can operate from your house and keep most of the equipment in your garage. Most contacts are owned by other people and if you became the third person, you margin of profit will be small. You can combine by buying some contacts directly , while searching the rest by your efforts. You could hire a local people mostly white girls and guys as agents and find contracts. You will pay them small basic salary and good commissions. They will look new buildings and other offices and get the contact directly. If you could get directly, the profit margins are huge.

You could send two people twice a week and they will clean the office. If you get 20 offices, that will be a success. You hire supervisors to run things for you. I use to clean and maintain the largest mall in the city and even hockey arenas in the city. It was difficult to hire people in Alberta. Almost everyone quits and goes to the oil sand and makes three times what I was paying. The minimum wage was 11/hour, yet it was difficult to find people. Finally I sold it to an Indian. By the way, business does have any colors other than green.

    4- Distribution

This is one of the most successful businesses if you do the necessary research and get some starting capital.

will finish tomorrow, i get to go ... My son needs help in his home work......

  13. Ooweyne,

Awdal does not need rescue. some of them are somehow content to live with hapless "Hapro" in these difficult and dangerous times. Yet as we speak those who are not satisfied with the status quo will grow one day. Everyone has high hopes for Farmaajo to improve the situation in Somalia, but it seems a prosperous and peaceful Somalia is a threat to many.

When I visited Somaliland in 2011, an aging wise man told me , " Adder 1990, Soomaalidu way wada waalatay meel kasta oo ay joogto oo is gawracday, Anagu hadaanu nahay reer Awdal kuwii noogu xigay oo dadka waashay ugu horeeyey ayaanu soo qabanay oo marada ku xidhnay anagoo is leh , hadhow kuwii kale oo miyir qaba ayaad mar kale isu imaanaysaan, weli waan sugaynaa".

He thought after the pacification of Somaliland the other Somalis would come and we would all leave in peace together as brothers and sisters.

You keep mentioning Wabar, and I can assure you that was just an experiment. A dry run if you will. He was just A suldaan who was not up to the job, like most Suldaans in Somaliland, but never the less, it was an experiment that sent some shock waves to Hapro. It was a message that the people will not sit by and watch when your uncle Siilaanyo keep looting the public purse. Now everyone knows , if the next one is organized better, it could do a big damage. If that is your wish, who knows you might get it.

I do not think that you have to wait that long, because in this part of the world , the next leader is always worse than the one who proceeded him. God forbid if you crown another unrepentant warlord like Muuse Biixi, after 25 as a leader , another more dangerous Wabar will rise.

Let me go little bit further. Farmaajo is expected to push a national agenda that is unifying Somalia. It is probably the last hope for many Somalis including many unionists like me. If he does not deliver , a lot could change. Unlike you, we the unionists believe that we can not abandon the blue flag and the union, but if these southern leaders keep messing things and play games with the future of the people, a lot will change. We will not be like CaliK khaliif or Ahmed Samatar.

Last December, I was trying to travel to Jigjiga and sit down with Cabdi Illey. I do not like the way he does business , but, if Ethiopia disintegrates we the Awdalites could join the Zone 5, and form a new Super Somali sate which could easily be the largest state in the region. Our combined population would prosper . If we can not get the big nation that we are aspiring to, then we have to form another bigger state and forget about Mogadishu and Hargeisa, since they both failed us. A new Western Somalia with livestock, oil, and huge coastal land could emerge and substitute the southern led Somalia. that would leave the "Hapro triangle " to fight each other until the cows come home. Then the might come to their senses and join our Western Somali state with the failed Hapro and Southern Somalia, and finally achieve the dream of our fathers.

that might be just an idea of a disgruntled Awdalite fuming, but it is a thought . We will not be watching the southern gamesmanship and the lunatic SNM who sequestered themselves in 1987, some thirty years ago, waste the future of our young with endless shenanigans.

  14. The attorney general of the United States , former Senator Jeff -I will make America hate again--sessions, had lied under oath. Just like his crazy friend Mike Flynn, he had met the Russians twice before the election.

He probably did on the orders of Trump. The biggest fear of the Trump camp is if an independent persecutor is chosen to lead the investigation.

If he resigns within the month, Trump impeachment is getting closer than we think.

  15. It is the same overdrive we have seen lately from our friends here. Farmaajo did not utter one single word , yet, this lunatic says " Haddii aad aflegaada iyo dhacdhaca naga deyn weydo" . There is a huge hysteria taking place in the middle of the " Habro". "

If we challenge them and play little pit of hard ball they claim, Galbeedi Somaliland ayuu cadow ku yahay.

The Cheese-man is not different than Hassan Sheikh. It was Cuusow who refused to sign the Berbera corridor accord, if you remember, even Samatar mentioned.

  16. Mitid, I am not adviser to Farmaajo or the government yet, but we do believe the success of the Somali government is the success of the whole Somali people. Also, I hope you realize the hardship and the suffering the Somali people facing around the world. Regardless of the success or failrure of this government, it is really a weakness to hope it's failure. Further more, you do not base your future and destiny about what others do.

    Che said,

"By your admission, Somalia poses no threat to Somaliland’s quest for international recognition. Somalia does not have the resource or political influence to thwart Somaliland’s ambition?

Che , you are wrong to say a Somali president would not speak out or prevent recognition or the dismembering of the Somali nation. Regardless of who is the leader , whether that is Farmaajo or Hassan Sheikh , it is their duty to prevent that before the final negotiations.

Guys, we are in the 21st century. The idea of Somali army or tanks invading another Somali town like Hargeisa is remote., but that does not mean Somaliald can not be confronted peacefully and politically. . Somaliland is very venerable in so many ways and personally, in this treads i do sense that people are using the victim card and other tactics to put pressure on Farmaajo. I hope the president will have a backbone and will not be swayed by pressure.

If Somaliland loudly says , it want to separate what prevents the Somali leader from using that same zeal to stop them.

If Somalilnd openly seeks recognition, it is the duty of the president to use peaceful , diplomatic, economic and other pressures to prevent that action. The biggest issue here is the Somali leadership does not want to hurt economically or otherwise on the innocent ordinary people.

These guys in SOL, do not understand that Somaliland is not only protected but also tolerated by the Mogadishu leadership for the last 20 years, either by their weakness or collusion.

I said in these pages last year that if capable men with a backbone took charge in the Somali leadership , Somaliland could be brought to the union without firing one single bullet. In the meantime, If they misbehave , I would shut down Berbera and Hargeisa airports for two weeks. No international airline would land without our permission, and will keep closed until they play ball. Walaahi, it so easy .

Well, as I said , now is not the time . We have more fish to fry and clean up the south. So, boys , if I ware you I would not rush for confrontation.

Oodweyne, there will not be any " Afweyne iyo SNM" or any other saber rattling. The days of open war is over. We will have more legal and legitimate ways to bring the brothers without firing and bullet.

  17. Last night I did talk to a local Professor who visited Mogadishu last summer. I asked him if he met or knew the Mr. Khayre the prime minister.

He told me that he was staying the same hotel where Som Oil company offices were located. He said the man is resourceful , hardworking and energetic. He is a man with a lot of connections and when I inquired about resolving some issues, he immediately was on top the matter and resolved quickly.

Waxa uu yidhi waa nin shaqa badan oo aad wax iskugu xidh xidhay mudadii uu wadanka Joogay.

He confirmed my earlier statement that the man is more qualified than most of the previous prime ministers. He said, " he is the only prime minister who have done some work inside Somalia before he was nominated. He also said that he may do some political missteps, but he will not be accused of nor working hard unlike the outgoing prime minister.

All indications are this prime minister is ready and well prepared. Will see

  18. This whole sale of national assets must stop immediately. As we speak Somali regional states are becoming bankrupt. They are unable to pay the salaries of their soldiers, police officers and civil servants. For the last four years none of them built any financial management institutions to save guard public purse or create a lasting mechanism to increase taxation and internal revenue.

Some like Puntland were waging war against Al-shabaab which is the duty of the national government, that in return forced them to recruit and retain large number of police and military personnel .

Both C/weli of Puntland and C/kariim Guuleed of Galmudug ,put their hopes on Damujadiid and Hassan Sheikh. His defeat and the manner they attached their fate to the former president is catching up to them. Mr.Guuleed of Galmudug has resigned and left. C/weli is facing impeachment within the Puntland parliament. The last few days, a convoy of well armed soldiers from his home town of Gaalkacayo, briefly occupied the parliament to halt the proceedings. while they claimed to be missing their salaries for months, the real issue was to save Mr. Gaas.

The knifes are out and now he is forced to shuffle the cabinet on behalf of the insurgents. He will be lucky if he finishes his term.

The only way C/weli Gaas can keep his seat and plan any future political aspiration in Puntland is to sell Boosaaso port to gulf and gain some cash. His neighbors in the North west has just cashed few millions and divided among the out going Siilaanyo government.

The Somali president must stop this flee market type selling of national assets. He must stop any sell or base in the country unless the conditions of the country improves. He should remember that neither him nor the previous governments have mandate to enter premature deals while Somalia is weak.

This will be the first test to Farmaajo.

    B

  19. Dhagax-Tuur, before we judge , we must allow the caravan to travel. The 2015, report of the monitoring group was all targeted one single man: Hassan Khayre. They did not write any thing about cargo of weapons captured in Mogadishu port, the laptop laden with bombs trying to take down Turkish airlines or how Al-shabaab is funded or armed.

There are some young men and women of Somalis in the diaspora who are tough, eloquent and educated and can do more. We already have seen their traces i major centers in north America and when they blossom, everyone must panic, because they will sue Ethiopian Generals, Somali leaders who stashed money in foreign places and fighting Somali causes in the diaspora. Believe me it will be sooner than we think.

Miyir, , By now every Somali is aware that this election involved millions of dollars, and certainly no one is a saint here. IN order to arm wrestle with big boys especially those who are using the public purse , you need some kind of financial help.

I would say that we all hate the game and the way it is played, but we should have some consideration for the players. I heard from some scholars and other commentators talking about the money in the system, yet in retrospective , what we should emphasis is the goal behind the individual who have spent the money.

If you spend money and campaign to do good at the end, it could be the great equalizer. No one inquired or even interested when people heard about the money Hassan Sheikh spent in the 2012 election, in the early stages of his rule , but one he decided to serve foreign interests and the enrichment of his own family , people started to highlight his misdeeds. If he spent the money to do good no one would have talked about it.

If Farmaajo through his business friends or others spent some money to win the election and in return help his country, all those things will be overlooked. Sometimes , you need to enter the sewer to rescue your people.

Further more, political aside , sometimes, we Somalis must choose our own personal interests. We must be selfish for the good of yourself, families and country. We always vote or go against our own interest. Folks, we Somalis must be selfish ones in our life time. We must be selfish and support the safety of ours and fellow Somalis, we must be selfish and help support the government so we can have our own place in the world, we must be selfish and help ourselves.

In this pages we supported Hassan sheikh for almost two and half years. When the bombing quadrupled, parliament was attacked, hotels were bombed weekly, and people were silenced for fear of being killed , we said enough in enough.

So I would wait and see if he serves the people or the special interest.

  20. It is the worst place to start. The famine needs emergency help, but I wish he had settled down, prepared his government program and face the Saudis with concrete plans. Sometimes, The Saudis will just give you a bag containing 10 million or less , and will tell you, " this is for you". If you are a greedy Somali politician, you would think the money is yours, and forget all the important issues facing your country or what you came for in the first place. . in 2001, they just gave C/qasim $ 17 million and he took the money and put in his villa using as his own bank.

This Saudis are probably talking about the Berbera base, the Yemen war and how Somalis could take part in the mess. If I ware Farmaajo, I would tell the King that the Somali nation is rising from the ashes of anarchy, tribalism and famine., sooner rather later we will stand on our feet, so those who help us today. will be our friend in the future. We need real help. We do not need chum change or few millions, we need a marshal plan. We need Six billion dollars from the gulf countries for the next four years, and a billion right now.

I will remind the fat boys from the gulf that how they bailed out and provided $16 billion grant to Egypt in order to prop up SISI, including 75,000 barrel of free oil per month. Well, we may not be powerful as Egypt, but we are a full member of this so called Arab league. I will give them ultimatum , give us the money soon or we will kiss good by the Arab league.

And one more think Mr. King Salman, tell the Wahabi Ulema in Meca and Jeddah to openly condemn Al-shabaab and their Wahabi affiliates in Somalia. Tell him to announce a new Farwa from his Sheikhs specifically targeted to Somalia, because , we know all the Wahabi Sheiks read the same sermon, whether they in HArgeisa, Kismaayo or Mogadishu.

If someone invites you as the leader, accept the invitation and prepare your self for your agenda when you meet them. You can not just fly because someone invited you. It was Shariif Ahmed who in 2010, spend eight nights in Kampala as some kind of homeless president enjoying the hotels.

Traditionally, the Saud family never helps anybody unless it's their interest. Just like week, they provided Yemen $3 billion dollars to keep the Yemen currency from falling. I will invite the Iranian foreign minister and then tell the Saudis, if you don't help us we got someone else who is willing to help. The just canceled the Somali livestock import to use as a leverage for the new government. Every four years or so they would ban the import and then open when the new president visits.

  21. No one is perfect, but it is our obligation to give the new prime minister the opportunity to help his people in these difficult times. In any appointments, there are negatives and positive attributes of the individual. At the end we expect his good qualities to shine compared to his short comings.

He seems to be among the new generation of Somalis who left the country as a young man and settled in the diaspora. He got some education and came back to home to help his people. He led one of the largest aid agencies from Norway, and through that experience had probably witnessed the suffering and the conditions of the country. Latter he became the chief executive officer of Som Oil company. Leading small but multinational company is a great achievement by Somali stranded.

Mr. Farmaajo, refused to follow the old style Somali politics of naming certain groups who think they are somehow entitled to be appointed as prime ministers. It is a good Sunnah that must be copied in the near future. The Puntlanders and Galmudug guys are out of the picture this time around, and if it was up to me , iI would say to them next time you must come back as a united front (haddaad Xukunka ku soo laabanaysaan idinku wada socda oo isku xisbiya yimaada, ama Idinkoon soo heshiin ha noo imaanina). The only negative on the appointment is we do feel some kind of family (nepotism) or alliance . Somalis consider the family of your wife as your allies and kinship, so they probably think that the president was enough for both Gedo And Dayniile communities, yet we hope that he was chosen by his merit and competence.

Since the constant quarrel of the president and the prime minister is always an issue, I hope this team will stick together for many reasons. If you Compare to past prime ministers before him, I do believe Mr. Khayre is more qualified than most of them in terms of experience, management, inter-people skills and finally , his service inside the country. Farmaajo was away from the country for twenty years before he named prime minister, while both Saacid, Sharmaarke and others went to Somalia as prime minsters and started from the top.

Hence, I do believe he is more qualified in terms of his exposure to difficult times. He will have upper leg in terms of dealing with the international community and other agencies in these tough times. Personally, I am not satisfied with work of aid agencies and NGO's in general, and I do believe that empowering entrepreneurship and contracting out development issue to able Somali businessmen would produce huge results in very short time. Since Mr. Khayre worked with these groups, I hope he will maximize and use these dollars in the right place.

Finally, let me address the issue of the monitoring group. There UN groups do some good things in tough times, especially famine prone Somalia, but the Somalia monitoring group were some of the laziest groups that I have seen operating from their cushy hotels in Nairobi. For example in 2013, a week before they filed their yearly report, they just visited a Mogadishu arms depot and wrote a premature report about missing weapons and other issues. At the time I did ask myself, " how can a world body mandated by the security counsel , do nothing a whole year, then visit Mogadishu two weeks before the due date and use that report as their yearly work".

For that and many other reasons, I believe these UN bodies based in Nairobi as incompetent group justifying their salary and in return keep Somalia under constant arms embargo that denies the nation for self defense. After all some of these people were mere accountants who never had any investigative experience or other security affairs qualifications. Mr, Chopra was small time accountant from the Midwest.

If this prime minister has any major corruption issues, it will surface sooner or latter. I do not want to debate here with Mr. Oodweyne who had made his mind regardless of the facts, but I must say few things about the Som Oil company. I do not have the full detail of that company but, the crest of the matter was, the monitoring group was targeting Mr. Hassan Khayre. Mr. Khayre was proposed by the Somali government to the take the chairmanship of the IGAD group in late 2012. Ethiopia has refused to relinquish the chairmanship since 2008. The principle of rotation and equitable representation is common in all regional organization, regardless of size and wealth. As soon as Mr Khayre tried to gain that powerful title, both the monitoring group and their friends in Ethiopia accused Mr. Khayre of having connections with Al-shabaab.

It was absurd charge. Since the aid agencies he operated worked all over the country, he had contacts with local organizations hired to disburse the aid. After careful investigation that UN mongering report group was thrown out as unfounded. While people or intelligence agencies, probably from Ethiopia murdered people who have spoken against Hassan Sheikh, I never accused the former president to be Al-shabaab. That is incredulous. In order to complicate things, as soon as Mr. Khayre was made the CEO of Som Oil, they made their accusations public and connected the Al-shabaab issue with Som oil matter.

Oodweyne said, " through his stint of being in-charge of the Soma Gas and Oil, and he will be expected to be suitably inclined to advance the kind of a deal the UK’s major oil companies will come to Mogadishu, within the next few years.

he went on , "any deal that may be involve with British’s major Gas and Oil outfit, who will soon descent on Somalia, looking for a piece of action".

I did work for big oil companies years ago, and they usually do not just come in and throw billions without assessing the profitability , stability and future growth. These huge multinational are owned by shareholders, and they demand sound accountability . BP (British Petroleum) is the sixth largest oil company in the world. In 2016, their revenue was $18 billion dollars, with an asset of over $260 billion dollars. Today in this province, the largest oil company in the world, Exxon-Mobil walked away $3.5 billion worth of project in Alberta for lack of future profits and higher expenses.

if we Somalis are lucky enough to attract a world renown companies like BP, thousands of jobs will be created. We have been talking about this oil thing for 50 years, and so far nothing is in the pipeline. Every nation is trying to attract investment and money. In Somalia, it will be very difficult to attract companies and drill oil at this stage or next four years. If this prime minister have the capacity to land BP and others to drill off shore oil in Somalia, that would be a victory.

On the issue of the new prime minister having shares in the company or shares offered to lead the company, I would say it is normal. Executives who are recruited to lead venture companies or established companies are offered shares in the company. He owns 1.9 % of Som Oil, and as we speak he sold his share as soon as he was nominated.

This prime minister seem to be competent and ready. Tough job is ahead of him. He must assemble a very strong and capable ministers with energy and commitment in the coming weeks. I also hope his nomination will reduce the Shabaab element in the Dayniile community. I have met many people from the Ceel Buur and Dayniile community and they are some of the finest Somalis.

Let us judge him by his actions. Let us not put the cart before the horse. We wish Mr. Hassan Khayre the best.

Allah Ha u Fududeeyo hawsha adag.
