  1. I told you guys days ago that ten and 12 years old children had voting cards.

The so so called bio metric system suppose to catch this but did not.

In gabiley. The waddani reps were arrested in kalabaydh and in gabiley town there were no reps for six hours during the counting.

One more thing  waddani escorts were denied to ride with boxes. Folks "waa lagu shubtay gabiley"

  2. There are clear indications that this election could be rigged through different means. Here are the main reasons that this election could compromised in a way that hasn't been done before.

1- Law voter turn out of the actual registered voters.

This could mean many things. In many regions the difference between those who registered and those who collected their cards are huge.  Almost 30% of those registered did not collect their cards.

Then, among those who collected their cards few months ago, another 15 % did note show up to vote. In fact in Awdal 20% of those who had cards did not vote. In some regions  40% of those registered few months ago did not show up.

    2- Where are these cards?

Did Somaliland election commission locate these cards of the absentee registered voters?

Why these voter cards are showing up every where?. Even Puntland had  some sequestered voter ID cards.  Puntland authority could intercept ballot boxes intended for the polling stations or those filled with ballots, yet they got actual voter ID cards.

Isn't the voter ID cards belong to the individual , and unless you take away from the person who owns, how could they got?. Puntlnd alone had almost up to 60 cards.

Are these cards traveling by themselves? These questions must be answered by the commission.

3- Why buy voting cards from the poor people and for what purpose.?

The Somaliland police had intercepted hundred of cards bought from the streets for as law as $10 dollars and as high as $100. All indications are that the ruling Kulmiye is behind these schemes. What is the use of these cards?. did they discard them or use them for nefarious reasons?

4-- The so called bio-metric system might be beaten by insiders.

After people marked their ballots and put inside the box, there should never be disputed. Actual recounts could easily indicate who voted and for whom, yet there are reasons for people to be suspicious.

In many places the biggest threat is parallel ballot boxes that could replace the actual boxes. In Gabiley, Hargeisa and western Sanaag where Waddani party representatives were missing , Kulmiye paid escorts were the only ones who were left alone to transport. As Maakhiri ,here in SOL indicated ,these systems might not be as good as advertised.

5-Waddani rallies were bigger than Kulmiye in many places.

If you look the party rallies , especially in the east , the Waddani rallies were bigger and stronger. It seemed the whole country was Waddani, yet we see close calls in Togdheer and many other places.

    6- Mohamed Aw Said factor.

This businessmen has monopoly in Somaliland fiber-optic internet access in Somaliland and he want to remain the sole provider of LTE network with modern features. Many other companies tried to inter the market by trying to pull fiber-optic  cables through Oman but was rejected. In fact the minister who signed that deal was fired immediately. Through another telecom company he is making a killing. He is charging hundreds of dollars for internet access.

Folks, this man could buy anyone for the right price. He was In Awdal with big cash and he did distribute to elders and others. If I were the opposition, I would check the movements of huge money being transferred from Djibouti to Hargeisa or individual accounts in Dahabshiil and Dubai.  I will watch closely the commission and it's chairman. One thing this election thoufght is that everyone could be bought for the right price.

    7- Gabiley must be disqualified.

I am not making this up, but in Gabiley there are no more functioning government their. In the Last municipal election they literally brought the ballot boxes and divided among the clans in secluded building .

It had four mayors for the last seven years. Even one of them made " Tahriib" or could not be found.  Every box and ballot from that region must be investigated. Make sure ballot boxes are not replaced with Kulmiye boxes. This people are really crooks.

Finally, the tradition of Kulmiye will not disappear. This people got rich of the public purse and will not satisfy unless they got the whole " Xeedho". If there was " Booli-Qaran" houses in Mogadishu in the late eighties , the Hargeisa one is much bigger and daring. Unlike those in Mogadishu, they are not even hiding.  They have sold every public house, school yard, park, and even the national theater built by the Chinese. Folks, they will not let go these honey combs.

If they lose power all that ill gotten gains might be scrutinized. for these people , it is do or die. They will do anything to hold to power., besides, throughout their tenure they had never done a fair election.

If a  change does not come to Somaliland, expect bad things from these bad actors.

  4. Also, you can not talk to specific media people who could be biased. Your only communication with public is official public address where everyone in the media is present. We know Hargeisa was counted already. What you doing is verifying the polling station results at the district or Hargeisa level.

We know how many each party got through the party representative. Changes from the early results should be small.

  5. Somaliland election  commission should announce and  tell people the preliminary results.

They have done a great job, but this chairman and his side kicks must know that it is about time people see the early results from polling stations. This is not 2010 or even 2013, the Iris bio-metric system is efficient  and it would be unusual for the early results to change. IN most elections, were vote counting takes place in the actual poling station, the results are already known. Their main task is official recount at the district level and resolutions of the disputed boxes.

Because of the bio-metric nature of the system it will difficult to falsify votes or staffing of boxes. THe biggest incidents so far are people of Authority or in this case the Kulmiye government sequestering and stealing opposition boxes. In Hargeisa, the mayor, by the strange name of Solteco, with his uniformed body guards had taken some boxes claiming to be disputed boxes  and transferring to the commission. In Gabiley the city rule and governing had collapsed long ago, most of the residents had moved to Borama, Hargeisa and Wajaale. Waddani "Muraaqibiin" are denied to escort the boxes to the district, if this is true this boxes must be either disqualified or investigated. During the last municipal election, Gabiley politicians and  criminals took all the ballot boxes to unknown place and divided the city counsel cities among themselves. What they do not tell you is there are large Awdalites in north Gbiley, Ceel Bardaale , Bus, Kalabaydh and Wajaale, yet their votes were looted.

The commission guy keeps repeating that the official counts at polling station level  could change. This fool must know that unless disputed by anyone, the polling station counts given to the party representatives should not change that much. If a party gets 2300 votes in certain station that result may reverse few votes if those who were counting made mistakes.

The commission chairman must not prolong the official announcement to another four days. He must release the early preliminary vote counts done by district level, unless he is cooking something.

    We need the early results.

Waxbaa dhacayo iyo masiibadan aad ku celeclinayso looma baahnee, shaqadaada qabso oo halka ay wax marayaan noo sheeg. Mise wax aad karinaysaa oo jawaan lacag ah ayaa ina Aw saciid kuu balan qaaday?

Some gabiley district  boxes brought back without the presences of waddani  muraaqib must be disqualified

  7. latest news from Wadadani operatives in western Canada.

He told me that the counting of the votes had already taken place at 9pm local time. Almost all ballots in those polling stations were counted at the local place, and the total number of votes had been given to the party observers who were present. After the initial count the total number was communicated to the district, regional and national headquarters in Hargeisa. He said that those sealed boxes with the actual numbers will be brought to the district and a second vote counting will take place there.

If there is any disputes, a third vote counting will take place at NEC offices in Hargeisa. The final announcement will take place Friday, November 17.

The party observers already know how many votes they got from every polling station. According to Waddani people in Awdal headquarters they are leading in AWdal, Hargeisa city (not the region), Ceerigaabo and Berbera.

In Awdal the early numbers show 71%

In Berbera they lead  60 to 40%

In Gabiley they are losing 23 to 75%

Hargeisa City they lead 68%, 30, and 2% for Ucid.

The Waddani guys are already celebrating and according to vice presidential candidate Mohamed Cali, he said, " We are winning with large margins".

Let us wait until 10pm mountain time which is early morning in Borama.

  8. MMA,

I did mention in one of the earlier threads that when  I traveled between Daafeed and Baidoa in the middle of eighties that the camel boys were tall with big afro hair like this guy.

It fits well of A typical Somali nomad

  9. Dahir,

I am not in actual construction business, but I am a contractor that supplies construction sites and i do visit these sites daily.

In this country of Canada the construction industry is 70 billion dollars business  a year. It employs more than a million people. In fact the strength of the economy and the healthy economic activities depend the housing construction both on residential and commercial.

In order  for the construction business to take hold in a meaningful  way and to be successful back home, this industry must be regulated and standardized by the local government and the business community. if there is any industry that distributes wealth and jobs to hundreds of different profession, it is the construction industry.

First , the cities and regions must regulate the land in their jurisdiction and start with urban planning. They must divide their land in to residential, retail, commercial and industrial lands.

Second, after people purchase a land for their house or for commercial reasons they must get a permit to build . They can only build on specific area and the city decides what type of building and shape takes place in that part of the town. You can not have a shanty house, bungalow and sky scraper in the same neighborhood.

third, those who are involved in the building and the construction business must be licensed and regulated. Only Engineers, certified electricians and plumbers could only work in these places. Of course you may have unskilled laborers, but The more skilled people involve in the construction, they wage of the workers will increase.

Beside all these regulations, the most important thing is city codes and regulations that generates most of the jobs and the skills to preform them. Unless there is codes and rules that needs enforcement , everyone will build his own shanty house and building as he wishes which in turn depresses the wages and eliminates the skills needed to do the job. Regulation means what kind of material should be used  for the house and so on.

Finally, in order for the regular people to afford and buy well built homes, a financing mechanism must be established. Citizens would put 25% or more down payment  of the house and builders will collect the rest of the money on monthly payments with no occurring intrastate payments. If you combine the city and urban planning with the business community and the skilled construction association you could have a well regulated healthy industry .

If most of these and other regulations and business models are implemented, the housing construction industry could create thousands of jobs throughout Somaliland and other places.

  10. Doing justice for The Gabooye Community alone should give Waddani a big honor. They are the most hard working and as Proff. Samatar said few years ago that they are the original Somalis both in technical know how and their talented creating of original Somali play right.

If you are a young bachelor Somali , please find one of those community and tie not. When I was young and 25 years old in Europe,  wanted to court and eventually marry a girl from that community, but she was the one who got a cold feet and suddenly they immigrated before we could build any thing.

Walaahi waan guursan lahaa haddii aanu heshiin lahayn. Qabiil iyo reer qurbaha ima keeni anigaa iskeenay, I would have given a hoot if they objected r not.

For the sake of this community people should vote Waddani.

  11. I hope it all goes peacefully. I am hearing that a large number of the youth did not register fr this election. Because of the bio metric nature of the registration Somaliland youth between and 18 years old and 28, did not register for fear of their actual identity could be accessed by European and other Western nations.

Wiil kasta oo dhoof rajo ka qaba isma diwaan gelin.

A friend told me that in Borama,  in his own house hold about 9 youth from high school to university did not register. For them  the opportunity of migration is more important for any elections. Also , in Awdal ,among the 145,000 registered in the spring 35% did not collect their registration cards. Thousands of citizens who reside Djibouti and has family on both sides of the border could not cross because of the $32 dollar border taxes. A family of could not afford to pay it's meager resources for the card. Among the 26,000 registered in Zayac district only 17,000 collected their card.

If I were the election commission, I would watch Gabiley and Burco were most of the large frauds in Somaliland usually take place. In 2010, 360,000 registered in Togdheer, yet few months later only 120,000 voted.

My instincts tell me that overall the number of voters might not even reach 600,000 if the system detects people who have double cards or the children who get registered despite their age being 10 or 12 years old.

Any way let the party begin.

  12. Holac,

Awdalites have tremendous opportunity  to challenge the system and gain more in Somaliland than the Sool people who were under intense pressure from many sides fr the last ten years.

Despite the dominant position of the SNM habro, I do believe that Awdalites could do more politically and economically. The people seem to be passive . When every CAli And Cumar in Somaliland was forming their own party , up to ten parties or more, non of the Awdal politicians formed one.

We are probably less affluent than those in Hargeisa who looted the public purse, and that might hinder our political organizations, yet when opportunity is given, they do not take advantage. I saw a guy who was raising funds for vice presidential candidate for Waddani Mr. Mohamed Cali in the diaspora and he told me that  he could not get any money even from those who hailed from the same town as the candidate.  Waa gacantood go'day .

Marka la yidhaahdo lacag ha lagu deeqo, gaar ahaan xaga siyaasada, Duriyadu waa deeqsiyiin. A politician will show up from Hargeisa and they could raise thousands quickly here in Diaspora although we might be weather than them.

Siyaasadu waa waxii aad gashato, reer Awdalna ma rabaan in ay wax gashadaan, hadhowns way calaacalayaan.

Also, when  they are in power they do not exercise power or  build  capacity and alliances for future political challenges. Look at Hirsi Gaab, he was chief of staff of Siilaanyo for five years and now, he is the one who is bankrolling Waddani.
