  1. Have you forgotten that a large number of our elderly who while suffering from chronic diseases go out every day to earn a living for their families? These elderly people (over 50 years old in Somali context) who don't have the luxury of isolating themselves whilst getting paid by a benevolent government are also bringing up a lot of children. Even if they had the means to sit at home, who will stop the large number of dependent children or relatives from passing on the infection to them? The "head immunity" policy adopted by some countries is simply intolerable when it comes to the Somali peninsula. For this reason the best way to stop the spread of the virus is to aggressively pursue all those who have symptoms and isolate them for three weeks in government run facilities. No need for testing, isolate just about anyone who is ill or coughing.
  2. It is exactly what I am talking about. The FG has no business taxing the people of Mogadishu and interfering in their local governance. That is why I referred to Mogadishu as a City State like Singapore. One cannot be expected to consider the residents of Villa AMISOM to represent any Somali citizen in the regions when all they do is run the local affairs of their host city.
  3. If you analyse the mindsets and behaviour of successive occupants of villa AMISOM, Somalia can be thought of as a city state. Everything revolves around Mogadishu. Any charity given to those in the infamous bunker is either spent on themselves or in their immediate vicinity. Other than the usual horrible news articles in the international media related to conflict and disaster in the regions, you hardly hear anything associating those regions with the government of Somalia. We often hear Somali police, Somali army, this Somali association and that Somali association, etc and the thing connecting all of them is that they are all Mogadishu based. How many times have you guys heard the words Somalia opens its first this and its first that or done this for the first time since 1991 although we are know that the regions especially Puntland has been having or doing these things since 1997? Why aren't the regions complaining about this gross unfairness of the so called federal government? For instance, if the capital city were to move to Gaalkacayo, then which part of the city would the federal government spend donor money on? I am sure if it sent resources only on the Galmudug side Puntlanders would be up in arms, won't they? Example: Boost for Somalia’s COVID-19 fight as U.S. donates 350 hospital beds WWW.HIIRAAN.COM The U.S. has donated 350 hospital beds to Somalia to bolster the fight against COVID-19 as the number of cases in the... Lastly, we have in here a fellow called MMA who spams this forum with all things "Somalia", but guess what? Everything he posts is actually about Mogadishu!! This is the real life definition of the Stockholm syndrome
  4. Why don't you tell the Gulf Arabs that they share language, religion, culture, etc and that their borders are fake? After you are done with the Gulf, take your preaching to the Spanish speaking Catholic Latin America, then to the English speaking mostly Protestant countries or the Anglo Saxons as they are known, and don't forget Germany and Austria.
  5. They should also set up a diaspora ZAAD and e-Dahab accounts where those of us outside the country can directly transfer money.
  6. There are not even five thousand families in the whole of Badhan. This is clearly a case where the minister responsible for the distribution of this much needed aid has decided to give his entire clan a bonus!! Badhan is neither a war zone like many places in the South nor suffered any natural disaster like the flooding in Beledwayn and the locust infestation in the southern farm lands.
  7. No no!! can you hear me oday? Villa AMISOM is NOT and CANNOT give away ANYTHING. Zero. I thank the UN and the international community for helping our poor people.
  8. Waaryaa MMA, Why don't you tell us what your folks in Bay and Bakool doing to prepare for the pandemic or has Abiy Ahmed and his army generals already taken care of that? I guess I should be asking the relevant government department in Addis Ababa anything to do with your region, is that right?
  9. Abtigiis is being unfairly judged and should be given the time he needs to carry out the changes he believes are necessary. I think we Somalis have a terrible habit of forming opinions about our leaders without first giving them the opportunity to prove themselves.
  10. Indeed Iran has done very well. They put the Americans to shame.
  11. If as you say a large part of the population is infected and as we know the death rate in Mogadishu is very low, then that means by the grace of Allah we will not suffer as much as the west.
  12. I don't see the logic of banning jaad on the grounds of stopping the spread of the virus. If Somali authorities are banning it for economic and social reasons, I am all for it. But to justify the ban on the spread of the coronavirus is ludicrous. Jaad is neither the only import coming to our shores nor the only surface area the virus can stick on. We get most of our food and consumer goods Ethiopia and from other parts of the world where the pandemic is in full swing. So if the jaad import is a public health risk, what about the other food items such as tomatoes, avocados, etc which also come from Ethiopia? What about the watermelons grown in Somalia but contaminated with the virus by the Somali seller? The logical thing to do is not to ban this obviously in demand recreational drug but to educate its consumers to wash it thoroughly before eating it.
  13. Did I say anything remotely untrue? Yes the so called suldaan or any other koofiyad bacle who tries to subvert Somaliland's democratic institutions or established systems will find himself dinning with our convinced highway robbers and those who were booked in for sexual deviance in the famous Mandheera prison. This has always been the case and will not change now.
  14. If this is not a big enough scandal which should justify the chasing away of villa AMISOM's Cigaal Shiddad back to coronavirus stricken New York state, I don't know what else will justify his removal.
  15. The so called suldaan is more likely to lose his freedom along with his ceremonial cumaamad then president Muuse entertaining his nonsense. I think the political mercenaries in Xamar are putting pressure on this so called suldaan who should be solving the inter-clan problems in Somaliland instead of pretending to know anything about international politics.
  16. Don't worry about Galbeedi and Oodweyne, they will be around. They have basically barricaded themselves in their bedrooms and forbade their wives and children from invading their sanctuary. Odayaashaa wax ka naf jecel
  17. Are you saying if this plague spreads in our homeland (Allah forbid) the Somali peninsula will become a land without parents and grandparents, basically a nation of children, run by children, and for children?
  18. Typical Somalis. The money was raised for a specific reason and that is to cover the funeral costs of the deceased boy. It was not donated to help a family build for themselves a nice holiday home. The extra money raised should be used to help with the costs of the many funerals of poor Muslims taking place across the country.
  19. I was hoping Mr Muuse and Co would at least quarantine travellers in a dignified and professional way but apparently I was wrong. Now this airport should be shut down immediately. It is jeopardising our public health. No more useless politics around it.
  20. They are in the grip of shaydaanka of course.
  21. Mudane Oodweyne, is it really necessary to be vulgar in your language? I think you are taking these fadhi ku dirir threads very seriously which is a terrible thing to do. Ninyoow dhiiga ha isku kicin ee is yar deji.
  22. The mag is exclusively for the koofiyad baclayaal, I'm afraid there will be nothing for the poor girl.
  23. Eight of those giant cranes can easily strip bare a loaded container ship in hours.
  24. I don't think this has anything to do with China but has everything to do with a nation's capacity to control its airspace. If for instance Somaliland had an air force with the capability to intercept any aircraft, it could effectively close its airspace to international airlines and force ICAO to recognise it as a separate entity. If a capable air force cannot be found then at least Somaliland should develop the technical capability to jam all communications and GPS signals used by the airliners to turn its airspace into a black hole. This tactic can also force all airlines to take a long detour around Somaliland and thus have the same effect with ICAO. So until Somaliland gets such capabilities which I doubt it will ever have, Mr Muuse and Co should explore other options.
