  1. ^ lmao! It seems sensible. The comments on that article are absolutely horrifying.

  3. Darn it! We have way too many criminals as is. The last line is a kicker, "It's not hard to come back — I'm talking about illegally," he said, adding where else would he go?" Really? This LCD needs to be put to good work in Somalia. Put his behind in a labor camp by day, and school by night. Ideally, that's what I would've done.

Do you also remember the Muslim ummah condemning those attacks and people in Iran (aka "Axis of Evil") holding a 3,000 strong candle light vigil for the victims? Just because it wasn't on the news or gets distorted doesn't mean it didn't happen. Here is Hanan Ashrawi - a Palestinian Christian - condemning those attacks on . Conversely, here is Netanyahu's response: the attacks "have been good for Israel" (Source: ) Alpha Blondy wrote: we're expected as a member of the ummah to show sympathy for the self-induced internal issues of the Palestinian. as members of the ummah we should abstain in such collective displays of purported unity. 5. Wadani;891345 wrote: No, it's not that Apo. It was the manner in which she conveyed her horror that I had issue with. Only a totally ignorant and clueless person, completely disembedded from Somali culture could react the way she did. But this couldn't be possible given the fact that she herself is a Somali, and knows that this is a deeply ingrained practise that spans millennia, and cannot be eradicated through condescending and self-rightious behaviour. Yet thats wat we unfortunately saw in this video. That's y it's nuthing but a propaganda doc intended to validate the superiority of the west at the expense of poor Somalis. These type of one-sided docs, purposely devoid of context as they are, do nothing else than to propogate benevolent racism among the bleeding heart liberals, and the continued dehumanization of 'savage' populations among right wing neocons, leading to wars and destruction. Precisely! "Native informers" serve their purpose. There have been campaigns against FGM for a while, the official one was documented in this . The actual advocates on the ground doing the trench work's efforts are belittled by this "Samira" or "Safy-Hallan Farah" and there are plenty others, I don't want the blame to be squarely theirs (those shrills in the NGO-industrial complex are also to blame). Bottom line: 1) Give credit where credit is due 2) stop playing into other people's narratives.
  6. Alpha, Just today I heard that Israel is using white phosphors on the civilian community again as they did in the 2009 attack. It's a deadly chemical weapon that indiscriminately kills people and has devastating lasting effects on the environment (it's cancerous and many innocent people will live with those "side effects" for generations). This whole "tit-for-tat" is disproportionate and I can't believe you would be on the aggressors side.

We are a divided community and our youth will learn and become experts in Somali clans and develop very tribal tendencies like our old Somalis should they get themselves indulge in this issues. Sorry, I was a vague about that. I didn't mean "Somali politics -- past 21 yrs // clan politics" I'm talking about having grassroot participation in Somali issues sans tribalism. That past decade has shown us what that route gets us (death, destruction, disease, and poverty) we got that. Our "diaspora" is a direct result of that kind of involvement and I pity the fool who still holds those tendencies. However, there are many good people out there fighting the good fight and bringing about positive change. WSSP (World Wide Somali Students and Professionals), Teach Somalia, United Somali Students, Anti-Tribalism Movement, Poet Nation and so on are doing good in promoting Somalinimo and is a step in the right direction. We need to support their causes, and amplify their message because it's a call for greater activism and Somali involvement. Free Palestine yes, but let's free ourselves from the ignorance and destruction of petty issues (compared to that of Palestinians who I said don't even have a state to begin with).
  8. I'm really tired of why certain "outrages" are only Western specific. Why can't native Somalis that are "outraged" as well be mentioned or interviewed? Or is that a privileged only reserved for certain people? I can't even continue watching this. Maybe some other time but not tonight.

  11. Waranle_Warrior;891136 wrote: Its not only their god given right to talk about the issue of Palestine but its their duty to do so... I welcome their activism. Xaqa ayay kutaaganyihiin. Yes, but they shouldn't forget their own native cause as well. We don't have as much external issues as Palestine does, for one we actually have a state. Let's put that activism to good use and revive the Somali State  The gist of this thread is to become an activist for your homeland while also advocating for the homeland of the Palestinians. Right Oba?
  12. Showing solidarity for the Palestinian cause and keeping abreast about Somalia are not mutually exclusive guys. After reading all of your responses you guys seem to be missing the point where you can be supportive of both entities. No need to group yourselves in the extreme (Pro-Palestine/Anti-Palestine). It also saddens be that some Somali people on here are victim to the propaganda spewed by the Zionists. C'mon guys, you all are Somali! I thought you would know better (hint hint Oba). Seriously though if you guys need to educate yourselves on the situation I can point you to many reliable sources that do a great job covering the issue. Mondoweiss.net is one source that's invaluable (even though they call for a one state -- not unreasonable btw). Also for people asking about the Kurds, Syrians, Iraqis, Afghanis, Rohingas [insert victimized Muslim group here] sympathies have to realize that all of their deaths are unjust and we are equally appalled by their situation. Their conflicts are just as much about politics/geopolitics and and ethic conflicts. Some (most) are even Muslim on Muslim violence (case in Somalia) so put away your blame card and see the reality for what it is and not make it religion specific. With that said, I would also love for young Somalis active about Somalia and it's situation. We can only become a stronger ally of the Palestinians once we get our affairs in order.
  13. Apophis;890733 wrote: Lets remember people, for Israel, that land is holy and god given just like Saudi Arabia is for Muslims. Plus, they're a one small nation compared to dozen or so Arab countries. Lets keep this in mind alright. No, not according to these certain Orthodox Jews. They are supposed to be a "state-less People" until the return of the Messiah. They're wholly opposed to Zionism, and are sometimes seen protesting against them. The most vocal of the Rabbis is Rabbi Dovid Weiss as seen in this Al Jazeera . What the Zionist regime does is capitalize on Christian mostly Evangelical's belief that the Messiah will come only when all the Jews are in Palestine and supporting their efforts to establish a "Jewish state" will quicken the Second Coming. That's why so many right-wingers support the Likud and Zionism overall with bias towards native Muslims as well as Palestinian Christians.
  14. What's going on in the Rift Valley? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to African Politics (unfortunately).
  15. It’s a known fact that Eastleigh is a conduit for small arms. Police have on many occasions recovered explosive materials, grenades and guns in the homes or shops of some. (Source) Is there any truth to Somalis having any of those weapons? By the way, is it really Al Kebab who did this or local folks trying to start stuff?
  16. Check these gruesome photos out http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/11/19/nairobis-streets-run-red-with-blood-as-kenyan-and-somali-mobs-clash-after-deadly-bus-attack/ Also the comments (I always try NOT to read them, but somehow, like a moth to a flame ...) are quite disturbing.
