1. And notice how Safferz immediately says she wants to disengage from this thread. I brought my facts, regardless of how distasteful and painful they are to read. But the facts are the facts. Blacks are far more likely to commit crimes when compared to other racial groups, and the vast majority of their victims are other Blacks. Yet for some reason, we have people sympathizing with them and trying their best to "explain away" their actions. So instead of sympathizing with the victims, they want to sympathize with the criminals themselves! You know Safferz, a little personal responsibility can go a very long way here.
2. @Safferz said: It should be common knowledge at this point that most black men are imprisoned for non-violent drug charges That is a blatant lie, it's not even remotely true. Where do you get your facts from Safferz, and where's your source? Between 1976 and 2005 blacks committed more than half of all murders in the United States. Even though they're only 13% of the population. Blacks committed more than 80% of all shootings in NYC in 2009. Blacks committed more than 70% of all robberies in NYC in 2009 And Safferz, you made the claim that most Black-Americans in prison are there because of drug-charges. That's NOT TRUE: These communities aren’t dangerous because of racist cops or judges or sentencing guidelines. They’re dangerous mainly due to black criminals preying on black victims. Nor is the racial disparity in prison inmates explained by the enforcement of drug laws. In 2006 blacks were 37.5 percent of the 1,274,600 people in state prisons, which house 88 percent of the nation’s prison population, explained Heather Mac Donald. “If you remove drug prisoners from that population, the percentage of black prisoners drops to 37 percent— half of a percentage point, hardly a significant difference .” It’s true that drug prosecutions have risen markedly over the past thirty years. Drug offenders were 6.4 percent of state prison inmates in 1979 but had jumped to 20 percent by 2004. “Even so,” wrote Mac Donald, “violent and property offenders continue to dominate the ranks: in 2004, 52 percent of state prisoners were serving time for violence and 21 percent for property crimes, for a combined total over three and a half times that of state drug offenders.” Drug- war critics like to focus on federal prisons, where drug offenders climbed from 25 percent of the inmate population in 1980 to 47.6 percent in 2006. “But the federal system held just 12.3 percent of the nation’s prisoners in 2006,” noted Mac Donald. “So much for the claim that blacks are disproportionately imprisoned because of the war on drugs.” Riley, Jason L. (2014-06-17). Please Stop Helping Us: How Liberals Make It Harder for Blacks to Succeed (pp. 74-75). Encounter Books. Kindle Edition. Safferz, for all your talk on "research" and "statistics", you should know that the vast majority of Blacks who are arrested and incarcerated for crimes, are serving time for VIOLENT CRIME (murder, rape, robbery) and PROPERTY CRIME (theft, vandalism, breaking and entering). Not this "non-violent drug crime" shtick which you keep repeating but is far from true. You're not doing yourself any favors when you try to defend these violent criminals who sell crack-cocaine in our communities (which has ruined countless communities). Or when you defend these Blacks who are incarcerated for robberies and other violent crimes. The first step to solving a problem, is to admit that the problem exists. All you wanna do is stick your fingers in your ears and pretend like nothing is going on. Maybe you don't see this problem for yourself, since you live in a bubble in peaceful Toronto, Canada. But anyone who lives in the United States knows I'm not lying, they know that cities like Chicago and New Orleans and Detroit and Baltimore have high crime-rates, and the murders are committed by Blacks. In fact, 99% of the crimes committed in NYC are done by Blacks and Hispanics. You can't even walk through certain neighborhoods without being robbed and possibly killed, and Safferz wants to pretend that this problem doesn't exist.
3. Safferz, what do you think would happen if this woman was walking down the streets of Taiwan? Would she get the same harassment?
4. Safferz, we can't pretend that the men in NYC aren't like the ones we've seen in this video. I've been to NYC, I'm sure you have as well...along with many of my female cousins and in-laws and they experience much of this same treatment while walking down the streets of Manhattan. This woman "Shoshana Roberts" even showcased White men giving her comments, and she explicitly said that she receives harassment by all races of men, so there doesn't appear to be any racist intentions by this video. It just appears that black&latino men are more likely to approach a woman in this manner, when compared to other races. That's all. Maybe White men prefer to approach a woman in a coffee shop or at a bus stop. That doesn't make one of them any better than the other
5. There's an even worse video online where a woman in Brussels, Belgium is videotaped walking around town while she harassed by many different men, and for some reason most of these men originated from North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, etc.) The men said far more explicit things, and were far more threatening. What this woman went through in New York is pretty soft compared to what happened in Belgium.
6. I seen this video and I just had to share. Look at how many men attempt to sweet-talk this woman as she's walking around New York.... Granted, not all of these encounters could be termed as "harassment" but this is really eye-opening nonetheless. If this is what women have to deal with on a daily basis, then I don't know what to say
7. Somalia/Somaliland are like an old married couple, and no matter how much they bicker and fight, they'll always get back together :D
8. @thefuturenow said: Dr. K may Allah (SW) bless you and continue to enhance the brilliant reasoning abilities and eloquence that you battle the misguided and disingenuous folk. AMN. Ameen! Thanks for that
9. You're right I don't think the major powers could tolerate seeing Somali politicians constantly bicker like children and never being able to reach an agreement. Federal Somalia will go through, the map has probably already been drawn, and these clan politicians can do nothing about it
10. @Safferz said: It's unexplainable and most don't even know enough about the different platforms to articulate a reason for voting for Doug Ford (and Rob Ford, as many Somalis are in Ward 1 where Rob was running for a city council seat). A friend of my dad's was at the Ward 1 polling station and saw lines of Somalis, and when he asked them to vote for Munira they said no -- we're Ford Nation. Tell me one reason why Somalis should vote for Munira over Rob Ford? What is her experience? What are her policy positions? I mean, she's only 22 years old and people are acting as if she's automatically entitled to the Somali vote by virtue of her being Somali. And then people are expecting Somalis to forsake Rob Ford--a politician they knew and loved for years--over this unproven fresh-faced college student. Most Somalis were Ford Nation long before Munira ever came along, so don't expect that to change.
11. All you keep talking about is "America America America" and how bad and evil the US Government is. Again, that has NOTHING to do with the topic! The Muslim world has 2 major problems: 1. An internal problem (our own personal flaws, lack of unity, etc.) 2. An external problem (the aggression of the US, Israel, etc.) Right now, Galbeedi is talking about Problem #1, the internal problem. Learn to stick to the topic, and stop getting out of hand here. We're not talking about the United States, we're talking about MUSLIMS and their internal issues!
12. CidanSultan, that literally has nothing to do with the topic at all.
13. CidanSultan, I don't like the term "Wahhabi" either. These extremists we see nowadays need to be labeled using a new term, and I don't think Wahhabi is the appropriate term. Don't get into semantics here, we know very well what he meant. And Shariah Law is not just a penal code. That's the mistake people make when discussing Shariah, including many Muslims themselves. Shariah is a legal system, a financial system, a labor system, a political/economic system. Shariah teaches us how to deal with the environment, how to treat animals, how to deal with your family, how to prepare contracts, the legal matters when it comes to creating corporate partnerships and conducting business, etc. It is uniquely adaptive and can be applied across all centuries. There are entire libraries full of legal books on the Shariah. It's an all-encompassing, comprehensive system which is the only way a society should ever govern itself.
14. I completely agree. Muslims in Somalia and elsewhere are being held hostage by know-nothings like Ahmed Godane and others like him. It's all-too-easy to grow a beard and wear an imamad and pretend that you're a person of knowledge. Although their actions and statements prove them to be very ignorant and with little wisdom. When it comes to contemporary issues, it's always advisable to listen to a Sheikh from your local community. A Muslim in America shouldn't have to listen to a cleric in Tunisia or Jordan, unless it's regarding theological issues. There's absolutely no reason why Somalis should be quoting Ibn Baaz when it comes to modern political issues in Somalia. He's been gone for 15 years and he had no knowledge about the political climate in Somalia. A Sheikh should be well-rounded in his knowledge. He should have a deep understanding of the modern world, and he should be well-positioned to defend Islam from the constant onslaughts of so-called "Modernists" and "Secular Reformers". Some Sheikhs involve themselves in superfluous debates which are completely inconsequential, about topics which most Muslims can't understand, let alone even care about. And we have too many emotional Muslims, those who make blatant takfir on anyone they disagree with. These are Muslims who have extremely little knowledge on their religion, yet they over-leverage this knowledge and give themselves undeserved status. I've heard stories of 19 year old Muslim teenagers, who have barely any knowledge of Islam let alone the real world, challenging learned 60 year old Sheikhs who are held in great esteem. A great example is that of the 20 year old Somali kid from Calgary who joined ISIS in Syria. I've watched his interview on VICE News and he was unbelievably arrogant and he displayed remarkably little knowledge on Islam. And the pattern keeps repeating itself
15. God bless the people of Turkey I sincerely believe that if Somalia ever reaches a point of power and prosperity, that Somalia should return this favor and uplift the impoverished nations in Southern Africa.
16. I'm against all drugs, including alcohol and khat. So what do you have to say about that?
17. People will always commit murder. Some murders are more gruesome than others. Why not just give Somalis access to automatic rifles and let the murders be quick and painless, instead of having them use axes and machetes? Don't you care about the well-being and suffering of murder victims? People will always commit theft, so why waste our time and resources by prosecuting thieves? People will always consume drugs, so why should we prosecute heroin smugglers, cocaine traffickers, and ecstasy manufacturers? It'd be a waste of time and resources! Let them sell drugs in peace! It's the same analogy. Clan wars are a major problem in Somalia, which will be solved one day by the Grace of Allah. But we must not lose sight of the bigger picture here. Somalia is an Islamic society and we must not tolerate these diseases (homosexuality, illegal drugs, pornography, etc.) in our Somali Islamic society. And since when am I against the existence of condoms and other contraceptives? You're literally making up arguments out of thin air. You want to promote all of these disgusting ideas into our country, under the pretense of, "Oh, clan wars and poverty exist in Somalia! So stop wasting your energy on fighting these vices in Somalia!" Get out of my face with that illogical argument! Neither of them are good for Somalia and Somalia shouldn't have any of these sick and deviant practices. Stop trying to mold Somalia into your idea of a secular, sexually permissive, and drug-infested society. It won't work and it'd only corrupt and further destroy our nation. I am, Doctor "Secularists are not welcome in Somalia" Kenney
18. @AbdiJohnson said: I would be fine with the alcohol ban if they were as serious in punishing murderers and rapists and tackling corruption. I made valid points but you chose to ignore them I am, Abdi "Somalia will never have hope" Johnson You do realize that banning alcohol imports is far far easier practically than tackling corruption and prosecuting rapists? I mean, it's just common sense! And if you don't think Somalia will ever have hope, then why do you associate yourself with Somalis? I am, Doctor "Self-Haters will never Prosper" Kenney
19. We all know what you're getting at here Abdi Johnson. You're against the very idea of a Somalia where alcohol is banned and sexual promiscuity is frowned upon. I completely support this alcohol ban and I think it's a great start. Sure the Federal Government is terrible at it's job of securing the country, but how can you even be against the banning of alcohol, a poisonous and harmful substance which Somalia doesn't need? I am, Doctor "Alcoholics are not welcomed" Kenney
20. @AbdiJohnson said: Beer is banned but guns are not banned? I am, Abdi "Misplaced priorities" Johnson Why can't both be banned? And didn't the Federal Government recently start raiding homes and start confiscating weapons? Have you been paying attention to the news!? I am, Doctor "No beer in Somalia" Kenney
21. @Tallaabo said: You are right Dr Ken, they are my sisters too and I never dissociate myself from the suffering of the people of the South, but responsible is divided and it is men like Dalmar and his fellow mooryaans who are responsible for the security and welbeing of our sisters and mothers in Mogadishu and elsewhere in the South. But sadly, by the looks of it they can't even look after themselves and need Ugandan and ebola infected West Africans to protect them from Alshabaab. Well then it's responsibility of Djiboutians, Somalilanders, Khatuumites, and Puntlanders to pool their resources together to stabilize South Somalia. Diaspora Somalis can assist with funding and finances. There are millions of Somalis in the diaspora, and all we need is a small contribution from each Somali family to help fund this Stabilization Project. We can easily work with elements in the South who agree with us. The majority of H-Block Somalis would get on board with this project. They genuinely want to see a peaceful and stable Somalia. Instead of relying on selfish foreigners to solve our own problems maybe the solution to Somalia's problems should come from Somalis themselves? If Hargeisa and Berbera were in chaos I would advocate the very same thing, and I would never ever try to disassociate myself from the events in Hargeisa.
22. Tallaabo, Don't try to disconnect yourself from the people of South Somalia. Don't try to disassociate yourself from the events in South Somalia. They're your people too. You need to change your mentality.
23. If a Canadian Somali was already imprisoned for a mere 10 years for attempting to join Al Shabab, then the RCMP must explain why this French Quebecois Man was permitted to roam free in Canada, after he already made an attempt to join ISIS. I really suspect that Prime Minister Harper will start firing Department Chiefs and certain people within the government. That's what happened in the USA after some deranged knife-wielding man attacked the White House last month, and actually was only a few steps away from the President's office. The Head of the Secret Service was forced to resign after that embarrassing incident.
